    • Nolan Jones collects two hits in Rockies’ win
Nolan Jones went 2-for-4 with an RBI double and a walk versus the Brewers on Monday.

Advice: The second hit also would have been at least a double, but it hit first base umpire Brian O’Nora on its way down the first base line, resulting in a single. Jones has had issues with strikeouts since coming off the IL last month, but he’s hitting the ball harder than he did in April and drawing a bunch of walks (12 in 15 games). He should prove pretty useful in mixed leagues the rest of the way. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:19 pm

    • Cracks 17th homer in win
Alvarez went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer and a walk in Monday's 3-1 victory over the Blue Jays.

Advice: The Houston designated hitter provided two insurance runs by launching a 397-foot homer off Zach Pop in the ninth inning to extend the Astros' lead to 3-0. Alvarez has opened July nicely on the tails of a scorching June in which he hit .349 (30-for-86) with seven homers, 19 RBI and 20 runs scored. The 27-year-old's been the heart and soul of the Houston lineup this season, as expected, slashing .294/.372/.528 in 352 total plate appearances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:33 pm

    • Resumes rehab assignment
Votto (ankle/back) resumed his rehab assignment in the rookie-level Florida Complex League on Tuesday before shifting his assignment to Single-A Dunedin later in the week and going 0-for-6 with a strikeout in his first two games in the Florida State League.

Advice: After experiencing lower-back tightness coming out of his third rehab game in the FCL on June 19, Votto was held out of action for a little less than a week before returning to the lineup. Votto will continue to stockpile at-bats in the lower levels of the minors before eventually making his way to Triple-A Buffalo and getting activated from the affiliate's 7-day injured list. If Votto performs well at Buffalo, he could be in the mix for a promotion to Toronto's big-league roster at some point in the second half of the season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:03 am

    • Cruises to victory
Lynn (4-3) allowed two hits and a walk over six shutout frames Sunday, striking out six and earning a win over the Reds.

Advice: Lynn faced little pushback as he sliced through the Reds' lineup. He generated a season-high 17 whiffs, including 14 with his four-seam fastball. It was his second straight win after going 0-1 in his previous five starts. Lynn dropped his season ERA to 3.59 alongside an 84:31 K:BB through 17 starts this season. His next outing is projected to be in Washington. Rotowire.com Sunday, 8:18 pm

    • Lynn tosses six scoreless, gets win against Reds
Lance Lynn threw six shutout innings and got the win in the Cardinals’ 2-0 victory over the Reds on Sunday.

Advice: Lynn gave up two hits, walked one and struck out six. He’s won consecutive starts for the first time this year. Lynn was excellent in shutting down the Reds and now has a 3.59 ERA on the season. The 37-year-old right-hander is set to face the Nationals on the road next weekend.

    • Falls apart in fifth
Schwellenbach (1-4) took the loss Sunday against the Pirates, giving up four runs on five hits over five innings. He struck out seven and walked two.

Advice: He cruised through four innings before running into a buzzsaw in the fifth, courtesy of two-run homers by Oneil Cruz and Rowdy Tellez. Schwellenbach had a similar issue in his last start against the Cardinals, giving up all four of his runs in the third inning. The rookie right-hander has now given up at least four runs in half of his six career starts and has seen his ERA jump to 5.68. He's scheduled for a tough test against the Phillies next weekend. • Spencer Schwellenbach falters late vs. Pirates
Spencer Schwellenbach allowed four runs in five innings in a loss to the Pirates on Sunday.

Advice: Schwellenbach didn’t have many issues in the first four innings of work while holding Pittsburgh scoreless, but that changed in the fifth. He allowed a pair of two-run homers to Oneil Cruz and Rowdy Tellez to turn a strong outing into a mediocre one for the 24-year-old. He was able to strike out seven against two walks in an outing that looked better than the box score suggests. Schwellenbach is back on the bump Saturday against the Phillies. • Surprise addition to lineup
Soto (hand) will start in right field and bat second Sunday against the Blue Jays.

Advice: The 25-year-old was originally slated to sit Sunday and said he may undergo an MRI or CT scan Monday when the Yankees are back in New York, so his late addition to the lineup is a major surprise. It's unclear if Soto will still require any of the medical imaging, but he's apparently feeling well enough to play despite experiencing some pain and weakness in his bruised right hand Saturday. • Juan Soto (hand) back in starting lineup vs. Jays
Juan Soto (hand) is back in the starting lineup and hitting second while playing right field against the Blue Jays on Sunday.

Advice: Soto was originally not in the lineup, but the 25-year-old is feeling well enough to get back out there after missing Saturday’s contest with a contusion in his hand. It’s most welcome news for fantasy managers who have their superstar back in the lineup. J.D. Davis is back to the bench with Soto returning. Rotoworld Sunday, 10:36 am
