      Francis (3-2) picked up the win Saturday, allowing four hits over four scoreless relief innings in a 5-0 victory over the Guardians. He struck out two without walking a batter.

      Advice: The right-hander was the fourth Toronto pitcher into the game but he handled the bulk relief role with aplomb, firing 44 of 68 pitches for strikes. Francis has tossed eight scoreless innings over his last two appearances, but with Yariel Rodriguez (back) close to coming off the IL, Francis is unlikely to join the rotation any time soon. Since a tough beginning to the season as a starter, Francis has posted a 3.06 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 12:4 K:BB through 17.2 innings over his last six outings sandwiched around an IL stint of his own due to forearm tendinitis.     • Mazur can’t escape 4th in loss to Mets
      Adam Mazur allowed two runs on three hits in 3 2/3 innings in a loss to the Mets on Saturday.

      Advice: Mazur struck out four but walked six on the day. The 23-year-old had just a 43 percent zone rate overall while posting a 23 percent CSW. He’s now walked 13 batters in 12 2/3 innings to start his MLB career which is not exactly ideal.     • Stuck with loss Saturday
      Carrasco (2-6) took the loss Saturday as the Guardians fell 5-0 to the Blue Jays, coughing up five runs on six hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out two.

      Advice: The veteran righty didn't give up a lot of hard contact, as the only extra-base hit off him was a second-inning double by Daulton Varsho, but Carrasco still got tagged for at least five runs for the fourth time in his last eight starts. With Gavin Williams (elbow) likely to be back before the end of the month, Carrasco's time in the rotation could be growing short, but he'll get at least one more turn. He'll take a 5.80 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 44:21 K:BB through 59 innings into his next outing, which lines up for a rematch with the Jays next weekend back in Cleveland.     • Early exit in Saturday's loss
      Pallante (2-3) took the loss Saturday, giving up two runs (one earned) on five hits over 3.1 innings as the Cardinals were downed 5-1 by the Cubs. He struck out four without walking a batter.

      Advice: The right-hander didn't pitch badly, blanking Chicago through three innings, but Pallante got lifted after 59 pitches (40 strikes) with two runners on base in the fourth and had to watch Chris Roycroft let them both come around to score. Pallante has been effective in three of four outings since moving into the rotation, posting a 3.64 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 15:7 K:BB through 17.1 innings over that stretch.     • Two rehab starts required
      Clevinger (elbow) is expected to make two starts at Triple-A Charlotte before returning to the White Sox during a seven-game homestand that begins June 24, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.

      Advice: Clevinger is lined up for starts with Charlotte on Tuesday and June 23 and is expected to join the White Sox in the days after his June 23 outing. The 33-year-old was placed on the IL with right elbow inflammation May 28 but has been facing batters since June 7.     • Approaching rehab assignment
      Yankees manager Aaron Boone stated early this week that Brubaker (elbow) is "getting ready to go out on an assignment," per MLB.com.

      Advice: Brubaker is over 14 months removed from Tommy John surgery and has been throwing to live hitters for about five weeks. The 30-year-old hasn't pitched in a game since the 2022 season, so he'll presumably need a rehab assignment consisting of several starts. Brubaker could be ready to join the big-league club around the All-Star break, but given the success of the team's starting staff thus far and the impending return of Gerrit Cole (elbow), there doesn't appear to be room in the rotation for Brubaker at the moment.       Effross (back) has been throwing to live hitters for several weeks and is getting close to kicking off a minor-league rehab assignment, per MLB.com.

      Advice: Effross underwent Tommy John surgery in October of 2022 and then had back surgery last December. Yankees manager Aaron Boone recently stated that the righty reliever is responding well to his throwing sessions, and it appears that he could begin a rehab stint soon, though Boone didn't indicate an exact date.       Cisnero (shoulder) restarted a throwing program June 10, per MLB.com.

      Advice: Cisnero has been out of action since April 27, and he landed on the 10-day injured list due to shoulder discomfort the following day. The right-handed reliever began a throwing program May 17 but was subsequently shut down after experiencing lower-back tightness. Cisnero was eventually transferred to the 60-day IL, so he's not eligible to return until late June, though there's a good chance he'll remain out longer than that.       Keaton Winn allowed three runs with six strikeouts over six innings in a no-decision against the Angels on Saturday.

      Advice: Winn worked around a double in the first inning, then gave up a solo homer to Mickey Moniak in the second. Winn was hurt by the long ball again in the sixth, serving up a two-run homer to Logan O’Hoppe that tied the game. He’d be done after six with six strikeouts.
