    • Rehab moving to Triple-A
Mata (shoulder) will have his rehab assignment transferred to Triple-A Worcester this week, Peter Abraham and Alex Speier of The Boston Globe report.

Advice: Mata made two appearances (both starts) for Double-A Portland last week, throwing five shutout innings for the Sea Dogs. The right-hander was initially sidelined in February by a hamstring injury, which has since healed, but shoulder soreness ensued. Mata, who is out of minor-league options, can remain on his latest rehab assignment until July 15, at which point the Red Sox will have to decide how to proceed. The club was focused on making him a reliever prior to hamstring injury, and it's unlikely Mata would be part of the parent club's rotation. Rotowire.com 40 minutes ago

    • Can't convert save chance
Beeks (4-4) blew the save and took the loss Sunday against the Nationals, allowing two runs on three hits with a strikeout across one inning.

Advice: Beeks was given his first save opportunity since June 5 but couldn't come through for his seventh save of the campaign. Colorado led 1-0 heading into the ninth inning, but Beeks yielded an RBI double to Lane Thomas that plated CJ Abrams -- who advanced to second on a wild pitch -- before allowing Thomas to steal third and score on a two-out single by Joey Meneses. Although Beeks is 6-for-11 on save chances, he owns a 3.76 ERA and should still be in the mix with Tyler Kinley for saves as part of a shaky Rockies bullpen. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:43 pm

    • Twirls six scoreless in return
Freeland didn't factor into the decision Sunday against Washington, allowing one hit and one walk with four strikeouts across six scoreless innings.

Advice: Though Freeland was pulled after 69 pitches, he still managed to collect his first quality start of the season and showed no rust after a two-month stint on the injured list. While the Rockies led 1-0 when Freeland exited, the southpaw didn't wind up with the win after the Nationals scored two runs in the top of the ninth and took the victory. Freeland's excellence Sunday was a breath of fresh air for the 31-year-old, who allowed 23 runs in four starts before hitting the IL with an elbow strain. He's on track to start during a three-game road series against the White Sox next weekend. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:43 pm
    • Earns unconventional save
Urena picked up the save Sunday against Kansas City, allowing one hit and one walk with one strikeout across four scoreless innings.

Advice: The Rangers needed only two pitchers Sunday, with Max Scherzer handling the first five frames before giving way to Urena for the final 12 outs. The save was Urena's first since 2019 and just the fifth of his nine-year MLB career. While the 32-year-old allowed two baserunners, he faced only 12 batters as Maikel Garcia got caught stealing in the sixth and Nelson Velazquez grounded into a double play in the eighth. In 19 appearances (six starts), Urena owns a 2.92 ERA and a 1.12 WHIP but has a 16.8 percent strikeout rate. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:38 pm

    • Limited to three innings versus TOR
McKenzie tossed three innings, allowing three runs on three hits and four walks while striking out six batters in Sunday's 6-5 win over the Blue Jays. He did not factor into the decision.

Advice: McKenzie was challenged early versus Toronto, giving up a two-run home run to Vladimir Guerrero in the top of the first inning. He later gave up a leadoff homer to Spencer Horwitz in the third, which was ultimately his final inning on the mound. McKenzie failed to pitch past the third inning for the second consecutive start Sunday, throwing just 41 of his 74 total pitches for strikes, while the four walks matched his total from his loss Tuesday versus Seattle. The 26-year-old will look to get back on track in his next start, which is tentatively set to come Friday on the road against the Royals. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:47 pm
    • Shelled by Tigers
Cannon (1-2) was tagged with the loss after he pitched one inning, giving up eight runs (five earned) on seven hits while striking out one batter in Sunday's 11-2 defeat to the Tigers.

Advice: Cannon ran into trouble early Sunday, surrendering five runs in the first inning while serving up two home runs. He returned to the mound for the second frame, allowing three straight singles before being pulled from the contest. Cannon's performance against Detroit was quite the 180 degree shift from his last outing Tuesday versus the Astros, when he pitched 8.2 scoreless innings. On the season, Cannon now owns a 4.59 ERA and 1.41 WHIP with 29 strikeouts over 33.1 innings in seven appearances, including six starts, with the White Sox. With Mike Clevinger (elbow) nearing a return from the 15-day injured list, it's unclear if Cannon will get another turn in the rotation. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:07 pm
    • Drawing another start
Chirinos is slated to start Tuesday's game against the Royals in Kansas City.

Advice: He'll make another turn through the Miami rotation after he acquitted himself well in his Marlins debut this past Wednesday against the Cardinals, striking out six while allowing two runs on eight hits and no walks over five innings in a no-decision. With the Miami pitching staff having been decimated by injuries of late, Chirinos should have the opportunity to stick in the rotation beyond Tuesday if he continues to perform reasonably well. • Kyle Freeland pitches well in no decision
Kyle Freeland threw six shutout innings, allowing just one hit while striking out four and walking one in a no-decision against the Nationals on Sunday.

Advice: Freeland allowed one single on the day and the Nationals had an average exit velocity of just 85 mph off of him. It was certainly a great way for Freeland to come off the IL after not having pitched since mid-April. He induced nine whiffs on 34 swings for a 24 percent whiff rate and 29 percent CSW. He makes for a solid streamer next week on the road against the White Sox. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:44 pm
    • Shut down at Triple-A
Triple-A Salt Lake placed Rosenberg on its 7-day injured list June 12 with an unspecified injury.

Advice: Salt Lake moved Rosenberg to the IL the same day it brought back another member of its rotation (Andrew Wantz) from the IL. Rosenberg made 10 appearances (four starts) with the Angels over the past two seasons and remains on the 40-man roster, but he had been pitching exclusively for Salt Lake in 2024 before landing on the shelf. Though 12 starts in the Pacific Coast League covering 68 innings, Rosenberg owns a 3.84 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 56:24 K:BB. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:54 pm
