    • Rangers recall Cole Winn, place him on IL
Rangers placed RHP Cole Winn on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to June 18, with right shoulder sprain, voiding his option to Triple-A Round Rock.

Advice: Winn was sent down after pitching on back-to-back days June 16-17 and giving up four runs in three innings of work. He complained of the shoulder issue after reporting to Triple-A, and now he’ll collect major league service time while working his way back. Rotoworld Today, 6:11 pm

    • Yency Almonte to seek second opinion on shoulder
Yency Almonte is struggling to progress in his recovery from a shoulder strain and is going for another opinion on the injury.

Advice: Almonte started throwing bullpens a couple of weeks ago, but his arm wasn’t responding as hoped and he’s been shut down again now. The right-hander has been sidelined since May 8 because of the injury. Rotoworld Today, 5:57 pm

    • Suffers setback
Almonte (shoulder) suffered a setback in his ramp-up from a strained right shoulder, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Almonte and the Cubs have been forced to "press pause" on his recovery according to manager Craig Counsell. The team is expected to seek another opinion on the right-hander's shoulder and his status moving forward appears to be up in the air for the time being. Rotowire.com Today, 5:48 pm

    • Clearing for throwing program
Cimber (shoulder) threw Monday for the first time since being placed on the 15-day injured list, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Advice: Fletcher didn't provide any additional details on Cimber's throwing session, but he's likely beginning his program by playing catch on flat ground. If all goes well, he could be cleared for mound work soon. Rotowire.com Today, 5:40 pm

    • Placed on major-league 15-day IL
Winn was placed on the 15-day injured list Monday with right shoulder discomfort, retroactive to June 18, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Winn appears to have suffered the shoulder injury in his most recent appearance with the Rangers on June 17 against the Mets. He was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock on Tuesday, but that move is now void after his placement on the IL. Rotowire.com Today, 5:22 pm

    • Rehab transferred to Triple-A
Minter (hip) had his rehab assignment transferred to Triple-A Gwinnett on Monday, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Minter made an appearance with High-A Rome on Saturday, allowing an unearned run and a hit while striking out three batters over an inning on the mound. The left-hander will now take the last step in his recovery from the left hip inflammation that has kept him out since May 30, joining the Triple-A roster. Minter will likely make multiple appearances with Gwinnett before being activated from the 15-day injured list in the near future. Rotowire.com Today, 4:53 pm

    • Looks sharp in live BP
Ferrer struck out all four of the batters he faced during a live throwing session Monday, Bobby Blanco of MASNSports.com reports.

Advice: Ferrer was cleared to face live hitters June 14 and is presumably close to a minor-league rehab assignment following an impressive showing Monday. However, the club has yet to reveal an exact timetable for the southpaw's return from the 60-day injured list. Rotowire.com Today, 4:39 pm

    • Optioned to Triple-A
The Padres optioned Brito to Triple-A El Paso on Monday.

Advice: Brito's exit from the 26-man roster Monday was to make room for right-hander Adam Mazur, with the latter set to start Tuesday against the Nationals. Brito had served in long relief for the Padres out of the bullpen this season. Across 25 major-league outings, he's posted a 4.35 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 26:9 K:BB over 41.1 frames. • Headed for Tommy John surgery
Manager Brian Snitker announced Monday that Kerr will require Tommy John surgery, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Advice: Kerr was moved to the 15-day injured list earlier in the day due to UCL damage, and it was confirmed shortly after that he'll undergo surgery to repair the ligament. With this news, Kerr's 2024 campaign will officially come to an end after posting a 5.64 ERA and 1.61 WHIP with a 27:7 K:BB across 22.1 innings. He'll likely also miss a good chunk of the 2025 season depending on how he fares during his rehab. "I just feel bad because he was getting a good opportunity here and impressed a lot of people," said Snitker. "He'll be back stronger than ever." Rotowire.com Today, 4:21 pm
