    • Goes back to Omaha
Veneziano was optioned to Triple-A Omaha on Saturday.

Advice: Veneziano was called up Thursday but will exit the Royals' active roster without appearing in a game. The left-hander's roster spot will be handed to Austin Nola, who'll provide catching depth for Kansas City in the wake of Salvador Perez's (knee) injury. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:36 pm
    • Royals option Anthony Veneziano back to Triple-A
Royals optioned LHP Anthony Veneziano to Triple-A Omaha.

Advice: The 26-year-old southpaw was just brought up on Thursday, but he’ll head back to Triple-A on Saturday to make room on the active roster for Austin Nola. Veneziano has posted a 4.50 ERA, 2.50 WHIP and a 2/1 K/BB ratio over two innings in his time with the Royals this season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:16 pm
    • Trevor Richards goes two scoreless as opener
Trevor Richards tossed 2 1/3 scoreless innings with one strikeout in a no-decision against the Guardians on Saturday.

Advice: Richards took the mound as the opener in Saturday’s contest against the Guardians. He tossed a scoreless first inning, working around a leadoff single in the second, and recorded the first out in the third before he was replaced at 31 pitches. The 31-year-old right-hander has been excellent out of the bullpen for Toronto, posting a 3.09 ERA, 0.89 WHIP, and a 34/15 K/BB ratio across 35 innings. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:37 pm
    • Rehab assignment starting Sunday
Martin (personal) will begin his rehab assignment with Triple-A Worcester on Sunday, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.

Advice: After initially being expected to start his rehab assignment Saturday, Martin will actually get going with Worcester on Sunday. The right-hander has been working his way back from a stretch of heightened anxiety, missing the last month of action. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:58 pm

    • Andre Pallante gives up two runs in brief outing
Andre Pallante was charged with two runs (one earned) over 3 1/3 innings on Saturday in a loss to the Cubs.

Advice: Pallante turned in a perfect opening frame before engineering a masterful escape after giving up back-to-back hits to open the second inning. He got into trouble in the fourth inning after giving up consecutive hits to open the frame and was lifted for reliever Chris Roycroft after striking out Ian Happ and wound up being charged with a pair of runs following his departure. He struck out four and didn’t hand out a free pass. The 25-year-old righty figures to continue operating in a swingman-type role for the Cardinals moving forward. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:50 pm
    • Brewers outright James Meeker to Triple-A
Brewers sent RHP James Meeker outright to Triple-A Nashville.

Advice: The 29-year-old hurler was jettisoned off of the Brewers’ 40-man roster earlier in the week, but he passed through waivers unclaimed and will continue to function as extra bullpen depth for the team at the Triple-A level. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:35 pm

Martin cleared waivers and was assigned outright to Triple-A Norfolk on Saturday, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Martin was designated for assignment by Baltimore, and after going unclaimed on waivers, he'll remain at Triple-A. The right-hander has struggled to a 7.45 ERA and 2.61 WHIP over 9.2 innings in eight appearances with Norfolk this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:45 pm

    • Contract selected Saturday
Marte had his contract selected from Triple-A Salt Lake by the Angels on Saturday.

Advice: Marte will join the major-league roster for the first time this season, replacing Adam Cimber (shoulder) in the bullpen after Cimber was placed on the 15-day injured list Saturday. Marte has appeared in 19 games with Salt Lake this year, compiling a 2.89 ERA and 1.10 WHIP with 19 strikeouts over 18.2 innings. Ehire Adrianza was released in a corresponding move to open a spot for Marte on the 40-man roster. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:20 pm
