    • Slams door for save
Helsley struck out two batters in a perfect inning and earned a save over Milwaukee on Sunday.

Advice: Helsley needed only 12 pitches (10 strikes) to quickly close out the 4-3 victory. Since blowing a save in his season debut, he's converted 12 consecutive chances. During that stretch, Helsley has given up just one earned run over 18 frames, lowering his season ERA to 1.42 alongside a 21:2 K:BB. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:51 pm
    • Ryan Helsley perfect in earning 12th save
Ryan Helsley notched his 12th save with a perfect ninth against the Brewers on Sunday.

Advice: Helsey struck out two. He’s been credited with a win or a save in 87.5% of the Cardinals’ 16 victories this season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:46 pm
    • Scoreless frame in return from IL
Fairbanks (arm) struck out one in a perfect inning in Saturday's 7-2 win over the Yankees.

Advice: Fairbanks was activated from the IL earlier in the day following a nearly three-week absence with a nerve issue. Rays manager Kevin Cash put him right to work, asking him to preserve a five-run lead in the ninth. Fairbanks did so without a sweat, needing just 11 pitches to complete the 1-2-3 frame. The 30-year-old now sits on a 7.88 ERA and 11:8 K:BB over eight innings this season. Despite the ugly numbers, Fairbanks should still be the clear favorite for saves in Tampa Bay's bullpen, as long as he's healthy. Rotowire.com Saturday, 5:56 pm
    • Pete Fairbanks works scoreless frame in return
Pete Fairbanks looked sharp in his return from the injured list on Saturday, retiring all three hitters that he faced against the Yankees.

Advice: It wasn’t a save situation, but Fairbanks was given the ball with the Rays leading 7-2 heading into the ninth inning. He came on and got Anthony Rizzo to line out to first base, Gleyber Torres on a called third strike and Jose Trevino on a ground ball to short to end it — needing just 11 pitches (seven strikes) to get the job done. It looks like he’ll jump right back into the closer’s role for the Rays. Rotoworld Saturday, 4:27 pm
    • Garrett Whitlock to make rehab start Wednesday
Garrett Whitlock (oblique) will make a minor league rehab start on Wednesday for Triple-A Worcester.

Advice: Whitlock landed on the injured list back in mid-April with a left oblique issue and should be ready to return to Boston’s starting rotation mix prior to the end of May. Rotoworld Saturday, 10:25 am

    • Starting rehab assignment Wednesday
Whitlock (oblique) will make a rehab start with Triple-A Worcester on Wednesday, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.

Advice: Whitlock was placed on the 15-day injured list April 17 after sustaining a left oblique strain the day before against the Guardians. Before landing on the IL, Whitlock was 1-0 over four starts with a 1.96 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 17:7 K:BB over 18.1 innings. How he fares during and after his rehab start Wednesday will determine whether the 27-year-old right-hander will require more than one outing in the minors to prepare for his return. • Rays activate closer Pete Fairbanks on Saturday
Rays activated RHP Pete Fairbanks from the 15-day injured list.

Advice: Fairbanks makes his return to Tampa Bay’s closer role following a three-week absence due to a nerve-related condition in his right hand. The 30-year-old stopper struggled in eight appearances to open the year, but looked sharp earlier this week in a pair of minor league rehab appearances for Triple-A Durham. He should take over the closing duties for the Rays with relief ace Jason Adam continuing to vulture the occasional save chance. Rotoworld Saturday, 8:56 am
    • Reinstated from IL
The Rays reinstated Fairbanks (arm) from the 15-day injured list Saturday, Tricia Whitaker of Bally Sports Sun reports.

Advice: Fairbanks played in two games with Triple-A Durham on his rehab assignment, and he threw one scoreless inning with a strikeout in his last outing Thursday. The right-hander joined the Rays on Friday, and he will be available for the weekend series against the Yankees. Before landing on the IL on April 22 with a nerve issue in his throwing arm, Fairbanks logged three saves in eight outings with a 9.00 ERA, 2.29 WHIP and 10:8 K:BB over seven frames. • Punches out 11
Crochet (3-4) yielded five hits over six shutout frames Friday while striking out 11 as he earned a win over the Guardians.

Advice: Crochet carved up Cleveland's lineup with ease, setting new career bests with 11 strikeouts and 21 whiffs. He seems to be fully back on track after struggling during the middle of April. He gave up 17 runs over an ugly three-start stretch but has allowed just three runs while registering a 24:1 K:BB over his last three outings. Crochet lowered his season ERA to 4.63 with an outstanding 64:9 K:BB through 46.2 frames. He's currently in line for a home matchup with the Nationals next week. Rotowire.com Friday, 8:39 pm
