      Jalen Beeks was charged with five runs in the ninth inning on Wednesday in a blown save against the Reds.

      Advice: Beeks was called upon to protect a narrow one-run lead on Wednesday afternoon at Coors Field and wound up recording a pair of outs before serving up a go-ahead two-run homer to Spencer Steer. He was lifted from the contest after loading the bases and was charged with all three additional runs when rookie Angel Chivilli coughed up a grand slam to Jonathan India. Not great.       Helsley earned the save in Wednesday's 4-2 win over the Astros, recording a pair of strikeouts in a perfect ninth inning.

      Advice: Helsley's now delivered back-to-back scoreless innings, striking out four in that span, after allowing four runs in his previous three appearances. The 29-year-old Helsley is now the first in the majors to reach to 20-save mark. His ERA is down to 2.33 with a 1.07 WHIP and 29:6 K:BB across 27 innings this season.       Singer and the Royals won't play the Guardians on Wednesday after the game was postponed due to inclement weather in Cleveland.

      Advice: The Royals and Guardians will make up the postponed game as part of a split doubleheader Aug. 26 After missing his previous turn through the rotation last Thursday due to an illness, Singer was cleared to start Wednesday, but he looks like he'll have to wait until Thursday's series finale with the Guardians to make his return to the rotation.       Advice: There haven’t been a ton of save opportunities recently for Helsley in recent weeks, with just five chances over the last two weeks. However, he’s converted 20 of his 21 save opportunities this season to accompany a sparkling 2.33 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 29/6 K/BB ratio across 27 innings (27 appearances).       Josh Lowe, who didn’t start Tuesday in his return from the injured list, is in the lineup for Wednesday’s game against the Marlins.

      Advice: Josh Lowe, Brandon Lowe and Ben Rortvedt are all starting for the Rays today, even though the Marlins are throwing a left-hander in Braxton Garrett. Factoring in big time there is that the Rays also faced left-handers on Sunday and Tuesday, had Monday off and have another day off tomorrow; they can’t have all of their lefties sitting around that long without playing. Josh Lowe is less likely to be treated as a true platoon guy than the Rays’ other left-handed hitters, assuming that he can stay healthy from here and resume producing like he did last season.       Advice: Suarez had been slated to throw a bullpen session Wednesday, but he instead played catch for the second straight day. The change of plans doesn't appear to have resulted in him being pushed back in the Phillies' pitching schedule, as the southpaw remains on track to make his next start this weekend.       Bohm went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 2-1 win over the Brewers in 10 innings.

      Advice: Bohm got the Phillies on the board in the eighth inning, leading off the frame with a 420-foot blast off Elvis Peguero to tie the game, 1-1. It's the first homer since May 19 for Bohm -- he's gone just 11-for-57 (.193) since then following a red-hot start to the season.
