• Tarik Skubal shuts down Phillies for seven frames
Tarik Skubal recorded seven strikeouts over seven scoreless innings on Tuesday in a win over the Phillies.

Advice: Skubal retired 13 of the final 14 batters he faced in a dominant performance at Comerica Park against a red-hot Phillies lineup. He generated an absurd 19 swinging strikes, including 11 on his changeup alone, and needed just 91 pitches (64 strikes) to navigate seven shutout frames. It was a much-needed rebound for the 27-year-old southpaw after allowing nine runs (eight earned) over his previous two starts against the Braves and Astros, respectively. He’ll carry a stellar 2.32 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 112/19 K/BB ratio across 97 innings (16 starts) into a road matchup on Tuesday against the Twins. Rotoworld Today, 5:50 pm

  • Fernando Tatis Jr. (femur) out until second half
Fernando Tatis Jr. expects to be sidelined until after the All-Star break because of his right femoral stress reaction.

Advice: And not just until immediately after the All-Star break, either; this will likely be at least a six-week injury for Tatis. Bryce Johnson will fill in for now, but the Padres need to go get themselves an extra outfielder as soon as possible. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:27 pm

  • Jo Adell goes 0-for-4, hitting .111 in June
Jo Adell finished 0-for-4 against the A’s on Monday, leaving him 7-for-63 with one homer in June.

Advice: Adell looked like maybe the AL’s most improved player over the first quarter of the season, but he’s all of the way down to .181/.242/.386 now. At least his defensive gains have remained intact. The Angels ought to keep playing him regularly, probably for the rest of the season, but it’s certainly still up for debate whether he belongs in their plans for 2025 and beyond. • Nathaniel Lowe goes 0-for-4, fans three times
Nathaniel Lowe went 0-for-4 and struck out three times against the Brewers in Monday’s loss.

Advice: Lowe looked like a long-term answer at first base for the Rangers in 2022, but his power production fell off last year and has continued to decline this season, as he’s managed just two homers and three barrels through 228 plate appearances. His .351 OBP is nice, so it seems unlikely that the Rangers will try to upgrade this summer. However, if he fails to step it up, he’s going to be a non-tender candidate this winter. • Launches 13th homer
Raleigh went 1-for-2 with a solo home run, a stolen base and two walks in Monday's 4-3 loss to Tampa Bay.

Advice: Raleigh slugged his 13th home run of the season, his first since June 10. The 27-year-old has batted just .178 over the past two weeks, but he has added two home runs, three doubles, two stolen bases and 11 RBI during that span. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:01 pm

  • Cal Raleigh homers, steals base in loss to Rays
Cal Raleigh belted a solo homer and also stole a base on Monday in the Mariners’ loss to the Rays.

Advice: The aptly named “Big Dumper” isn’t exactly known for his stolen base prowess, but he’s flashes strong instincts on the bases throughout his career, and is now up to three thefts on the year. He connected for a fourth-inning solo shot off Rays starter Taj Bradley for his 13th long ball of the year. It was the first time he’s left the yard since June 10, snapping a 12-game homerless drought in the process. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:42 pm

  • Stress reaction sends Fernando Tatis Jr. to IL
Padres placed OF Fernando Tatis Jr. on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to June 22, with a right femoral stress reaction.

Advice: That’s better than a stress fracture, but it’s not great. The Padres will likely go to Bryce Johnson in right field most days, but he’s not going to replace Tatis’s production. Tatis was hitting .279/.354/.468 with 14 homers in 345 plate appearances. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:54 pm

  • Lands on IL with quad injury
The Padres placed Tatis on the 10-day injured list Monday, retroactive to June 22, due to a right femoral stress reaction in his quadriceps.

Advice: Tatis missed the last two games with a triceps injury after being hit in the left arm by a pitch Friday, and he will now be sidelined with a separate quadriceps injury. His stint on the IL would line up with a return in early July, but it's possible the 25-year-old will be held out longer than that until perhaps after the All-Star break, per Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune. Tatis is slashing .279/.354/.468 with 14 home runs and 36 RBI over 345 plate appearances and an .822 OPS. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:44 pm

  • Fernando Tatis Jr. to land on IL with quad injury
Fernando Tatis Jr. is going on the IL with a slight stress reaction in his quad, according to manager Mike Shildt.

Advice: That’s another big loss for the Padres offense, especially given the alternatives in right field. The Padres are bringing up Bryce Johnson and likely will give him a lot of playing time for at least the next couple of weeks. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:32 pm
