    • Yu Darvish leaves start with hamstring tightness
Yu Darvish was pulled from Wednesday’s start against the Marlins after just three innings due to tightness in his left hamstring.

Advice: Before exiting, the 37-year-old hurler had given up three runs (two earned) on six hits and a walk. He’ll head for further evaluation to determine the severity of the injury, but you’d have to think that his next start — at a minimum — are in jeopardy at this point. Rotoworld Wednesday, 4:25 pm
    • Dealing with hamstring tightness
Darvish was removed from his start Wednesday against the Marlins due to left hamstring tightness, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Advice: Darvish was pulled after three innings Wednesday, during which he allowed three runs (two earned) on six hits and a walk while striking out two batters. Manager Mike Shildt said the right-hander is undergoing imaging, and the Padres should offer an update on his status once the results come back. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 4:21 pm
    • Kyle Schwarber orders combo meal in Phillies’ win
Kyle Schwarber walloped a leadoff homer and also stole a base on Wednesday, propelling the Phillies to a 6-1 victory over the Giants.

Advice: Schwarber delivered a tone-setting blast to left-center field right out of the gate against Giants starter Kyle Harrison before reaching on a fielder’s choice and stealing second base a couple frames later. The 31-year-old slugger also added an RBI single in the eighth inning as well to put the cherry on top of a multi-hit performance at Oracle Park, which is one of the toughest ballparks in the league for left-handed batters. • Kyle Harrison allows two homers in loss to Phillies
Kyle Harrison surrendered four runs over five innings on Wednesday in a loss to the Phillies.

Advice: Harrison was knocked around for a staggering 12 hits, including homers by Kyle Schwarber and Nick Castellanos, so it’s pretty remarkable that he managed to limit the damage to just four runs over five frames of work. He racked up five strikeouts and only handed out one free pass. The 22-year-old southpaw will bring a respectable 4.15 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 60/22 K/BB ratio across 65 innings (12 starts) into a road tilt on Tuesday against the division-rival Diamondbacks. • Hangs on for 18th save
Helsley earned the save in Wednesday's 5-3 win over the Reds, allowing a run on a hit and two walks in the ninth inning.

Advice: Protecting a three-run lead in the ninth, Helsley allowed the first two batters to reach. He'd allow a run on a Tyler Stephenson sacrifice fly before ultimately getting Elly De La Cruz to ground out with the tying runs on base. Helsley has now converted 18 straight save chances despite allowing at least one run in his last three appearances. Overall, the 29-year-old right-hander sports a 2.52 ERA with a 1.16 WHIP and 25:6 K:BB over 25 innings this season. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 2:28 pm

    • Ryan Helsley again gives up run, earns save
Ryan Helsley notched his 18th save after giving up a run in the ninth Wednesday against the Reds.

Advice: Helsley has bent but not broke these last three appearances, giving up a total of four ninth-inning runs while still converting the save opportunity each time. His ERA has doubled from 1.23 to 2.52, but he’s 18-for-19 on the year. Rotoworld Wednesday, 1:40 pm

    • Jackson Merrill returns to lineup after day off
Jackson Merrill is back in center field Wednesday after getting the day off against a lefty on Tuesday.

Advice: The Padres are again facing a lefty, but Merrill has been starting against most of them, even though he’s hitting just .233/.261/.233 in 46 plate appearances against them. He’s also 7-for-35 with no extra-base hits or walks in his last eight games overall. Rotoworld Wednesday, 10:25 am

    • Sitting versus lefty
Cruz is absent from the lineup for the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader versus the Tigers.

Advice: Detroit is sending lefty ace Tarik Skubal to the hill in the first game of the doubleheader, so the left-handed-hitting Cruz will begin the contest on the bench. Cruz should be back in the lineup for second game, when the Tigers will start righty Keider Montero. Alika Williams is garnering the start at shortstop in the first tilt. • Stuck with loss in quality start
Quintana (1-5) took the loss in the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Dodgers, giving up three runs on eight hits over six innings. He struck out three without walking a batter.

Advice: The veteran lefty didn't pitch badly, but a lack of run support and homers by Will Smith and Miguel Vargas doomed him to defeat as the Mets fell, 3-0. The quality start was Quintana's third of the season, and he'll carry a 5.06 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 39:18 K:BB through 58.2 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come on the road early next week against the Nationals.
