    • Seiya Suzuki slugs solo homer in loss to Giants
Seiya Suzuki went 1-for-4 with a solo homer against the Giants on Wednesday.

Advice: Suzuki’s only hit of the day left the yard, a game-tying homer in the fifth inning off of Hayden Birdsong. The 29-year-old outfielder is up to nine homers while slashing .263/.336/.446 with 29 runs scored, 29 RBI, and seven steals across 241 plate appearances. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:15 pm
    • Grabs 28th save
Helsley allowed a hit and a walk while striking out one in a scoreless inning to earn the save in a 4-1 win over Atlanta in Game 2 of Wednesday's doubleheader.

Advice: Helsley allowed two runs in Monday's game versus Atlanta, but he was able to keep his save streak going. The right-hander has converted his last 28 save attempts after blowing his first chance of the year. He's now at a 2.75 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 43:16 K:BB through 36 innings. Helsley has allowed six hits and issued 10 walks over 11 innings in June, but he's been scored on in just two of his 11 appearances this month, so his place as the Cardinals' closer is not in doubt. • Ryan Helsley locks down 28th save Wednesday
Ryan Helsley tossed a scoreless ninth inning with one strikeout to earn the save in the second game of a doubleheader against the Braves on Wednesday.

Advice: Helsley was summoned to close it out in the ninth with a three-run lead against the Braves. He recorded the first out, then allowed two runners on with a single and a walk. A groundout put both runners in scoring position and brought the tying run to the plate with two outs. He Helsley struck out the final batter to end the game with his MLB-leading 28th save. • Lane Thomas plates two runs in loss to Padres
Lane Thomas smacked a two-run double, drew a pair of walks and scored a run on Wednesday as the Nationals fell to the Padres in San Diego.

Advice: Thomas finally broke through and got the Nationals on the board with a two-run double off of Tom Cosgrove in the ninth inning. He scored later in the frame on a two-run double by Luis Garcia, but the five-run rally in the ninth still fell short. The 28-year-old outfielder was also cut down attempting to steal second base in the ballgame. He finished the afternoon 1-for-2 and is now hitting .243/.302/.431 to go with eight homers, 34 RBI and 17 stolen bases (in 23 attempts) on the season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:46 pm

    • Getting afternoon off
Arraez is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Nationals.

Advice: Arraez will get a breather for the day game after a night game, hitting the bench for the first time since June 3. Jurickson Profar will move into Arraez's usual spot atop the lineup for the series finale with Washington. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:21 pm

    • Takes batting practice Wednesday
Bogaerts (shoulder) took batting practice on the field Wednesday, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The Padres haven't divulged a potential timeline for Bogaerts' return from the 10-day injured list, but his ability to take on-field BP for the first time since suffering a fracture in his left shoulder in late May represents a major milestone in the recovery process. A clearer target date for Bogaerts' return could come into focus in the next few weeks once he resumes running and taking reps in the infield. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:22 am

    • Back on bench after three starts
Perkins is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rangers.

Advice: Perkins had started in center field in each of the last three games, but he'll retreat to the bench Wednesday and still looks to be viewed as the team's fourth outfielder. Christian Yelich, Sal Frelick and Jackson Chourio will form the Milwaukee outfield from left to right Wednesday and look to be manager Pat Murphy's preferred trio against right-handed pitching. • Brewers lose Gary Sánchez to IL with calf strain
Brewers replaced C Gary Sánchez on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to June 24, with a strained left calf.

Advice: The Brewers don’t think Sánchez’s injury is serious, but they weren’t going to continue to play without a backup catcher. Eric Haase will take his spot at least until he’s eligible to return July 4. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:10 am

    • Placed on IL with calf strain
The Brewers placed Sanchez on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a left calf strain, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Though the Brewers are labeling Sanchez's injury as a low-grade strain, he wasn't going to be available to play for several days, so Milwaukee opted to deactivate him. Sanchez will be eligible to return July 4, but it's not clear yet whether he'll be ready on that date. Eric Haase was called up from Triple-A Nashville and will step in as the No. 2 option at catcher behind William Contreras. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:03 am
