      Santiago Espinal went 0-for-4 as the Reds’ DH in the shutout loss to the Cardinals on Friday.

      Advice: We’re not saying it tops “for sale: baby shoes, never worn,” but “Santiago Espinal, designated hitter” is also an awfully sad story and is two entire words shorter. The Cincinnati lineup tonight was a product of the Reds keeping Jeimer Candelario and Jake Fraley in injury limbo for the third straight game; neither could even DH tonight, but the Reds still didn’t want to commit to IL stints.       The Giants placed Flores on the 10-day injured list Friday with right knee tendinitis, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

      Advice: Flores has been slumping at the plate lately, going just 2-for-19 with three RBI in his last six games. He'll be sidelined for at least 10 days due to his knee, and starting first base duties will be given back to LaMonte Wade (hamstring), who was activated off the injured list in a corresponding move.       Giants placed INF Wilmer Flores on the 10-day injured list with left knee tendinitis.

      Advice: Flores has been battling the knee issue for a couple of weeks now so the Giants finally decided to sit him down and get him right.     • Giants activate LaMonte Wade Jr. from 10-day IL
      Giants activated 1B/OF LaMonte Wade Jr. from the 10-day injured list.

      Advice: As expected, the 30-year-old slugger will return to start at first base and bat second on Friday night against Landon Knack and the Dodgers. Prior to landing on the injured list in late May with a Grade 2 left hamstring strain, Wade had been hitting .333/.470/.426 with a pair of homers, 17 RBI and one stolen base through his first 166 plate appearances.       Reds’ manager David Bell told reporters on Friday that Jeimer Candelario (knee) is expected to return to the starting lineup on Sunday.

      Advice: Candelario has missed each of the team’s last three games due to a knee issue and he’ll sit on Saturday as well. The team doesn’t want him to miss a full 10 days though and they’re very hopeful that he’ll be able to return to action on Sunday.       Candelario (hamstring) is on track to play Sunday against the Cardinals, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

      Advice: Candelario hasn't played since Tuesday as he tends to hamstring tendinitis. However, he's set to make his return for the series finale Sunday and will avoid a stint on the IL. In his stead, Noelvi Marte should continue to start at third base while Spencer Steer handles first base work, but it's not yet clear how the workload at the infield corners will be divided between the trio once Candelario is healthy.
