• Grounds Cardinals in quality start
Manaea (2-1) earned the win over St. Louis on Monday, allowing three runs on six hits and one walk while striking out one batter over six innings.

Advice: Manaea didn't have his swing-and-miss stuff Monday -- he induced just four whiffs and recorded only one strikeout -- but that didn't stop him from keeping the Cardinals' bats mostly under control. The southpaw cruised through five scoreless frames before running out of gas in a three-run St. Louis sixth, but he was able to finish the inning to notch his first quality start since his first appearance of the campaign. Control issues have kept Manaea from going deep into contests this season, so it was promising to see him issue just one free pass -- his fewest of the campaign -- against the Cardinals. • Sean Manaea gives up three runs in no-decision
Sean Manaea yielded three runs over six innings on Monday in a no-decision against the Cardinals.

Advice: Manaea was cruising along in this one until his final frame when the Cardinals struck for three runs on a trio of hits and a walk. It was backstops Willson Contreras and Iván Herrera that delivered run-scoring hits in the frame and wound up forcing the veteran lefty to settle for a no-decision. He finished with just one strikeout and only handed out one free pass. He’ll bring a respectable 3.31 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 31/19 K/BB ratio across 36 1/3 innings (seven starts) into a tough matchup on Sunday against the division-rival Braves. Rotoworld 30 minutes ago

  • Picks up save Monday
Thielbar struck out two batters in a scoreless inning and earned a save over the Mariners on Monday.

Advice: Thielbar faced the heart of Seattle's lineup after Jhoan Duran pitched a perfect eighth inning. It was Thielbar's third save of the year and first since April 29. He lowered his ERA to 6.14 with a 9:3 K:BB through 7.1 innings. Duran should still see most of the save chances in Minnesota but the team may elect for more of a committee approach for now. • Works eighth inning
Duran struck out two batters in a scoreless eighth inning and earned a hold during Monday's win over Seattle.

Advice: Duran was called upon to face the Mariners' 9-1-2 hitters in a 3-1 contest. After earning a save in each of his first two appearances of 2024, he's picked up a hold in his last two games. Duran is the primary closing option in Minnesota but it appears there may be more of a committee than expected. Last season, he converted 27 of 32 saves and picked up only one hold. • Dominates against Mariners
Woods Richardson allowed a hit and a walk over six shutout frames in a no-decision Monday. He struck out eight during the win over Seattle.

Advice: Woods Richardson struck out the first four batters he faced and five of the first six through two perfect frames. Only one Mariner reached scoring position against him as he turned in the best outing of his MLB career. The 23-year-old righty generated 10 whiffs, matching his season high. Wood Richardson dropped his ERA to 1.74 with a 21:5 K:BB through 20.2 frames. His next start is projected to be this weekend in Toronto. Rotowire.com Today, 7:48 pm
  • Strikes out seven in no-decision
Alexander did not factor into the decision Friday against the White Sox, allowing two runs on four hits and one walk over four innings. He struck out seven.

Advice: Alexander looked especially sharp Monday night against a weak White Sox team, striking out a season-high seven batters while generating 13 whiffs. The Rays left-hander has pitched to the tune of a 4.96 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 30:10 K:BB over 32.2 innings this season. However, his time in the starting rotation is likely over as Taj Bradley (pectoral) appears on track to return from the injured list this week. Rotowire.com Today, 7:40 pm

  • Tyler Alexander punches out seven in win vs. CWS
Tyler Alexander allowed two earned runs and struck out seven batters in four innings of work against the White Sox on Monday.

Advice: Alexander set a season-high in strikeouts on Monday and has looked good over his past five starts following a rough start to the season. The only runs off Alexander came from a two-run home run from Tommy Pham. Other than that, the 29-year-old was in control and now holds a 4.96 ERA, 1.38 WHIP with a 30/10 K/BB ratio across 32 2/3 innings. Fantasy managers that have Alexander should be satisfied with this result as he gets ready to take on the Yankees this weekend. Rotoworld Today, 7:22 pm

  • Converts second save
Stratton allowed two walks in a scoreless inning and earned a save over the Brewers on Monday.

Advice: Stratton forced a double play after the first walk, so he didn't face a very threatening push from Milwaukee. It was his second save of the year and first since April 6. He blew his last opportunity when he was slammed for five runs against Detroit on April 27. Stratton is sporting a 5.40 ERA with a shaky 12:12 K:BB through 15 frames. Rotowire.com Today, 7:21 pm
  • Caleb Thielbar locks down save against Mariners
Caleb Thielbar picked up a save with a scoreless inning Monday against the Mariners.

Advice: The Twins used Jhoan Duran in the eighth inning — he struck out two in a scoreless inning to keep his ERA at 0.00 — and Thielbar was able to pick up a pair of punchouts himself while procuring the third save of the season. His 6.14 ERA isn’t indicative of how well he’s pitched in 2024. Rotoworld Today, 6:52 pm
