• Resumes hitting
Diaz (calf) has resumed taking batting practice but is not yet running the bases, MLB.com reports.

Advice: The veteran began a light running program in mid-April, but as this latest report indicates, he hasn't progressed to carrying it out fully just yet. The fact Diaz is back to swinging a bat is certainly a positive, however, but he appears to be at least a month away from his season debut given the expected length of the rehab assignment he'll require. • Keeps raking in Monday's loss
Toro went 3-for-4 with a double in a loss to the Rangers on Monday.

Advice: Toro authored one of two multi-hit efforts for the Athletics on the night, accomplishing the feat for the fifth time in the last six games overall. Toro has also reached safely in nine of the last 10 contests overall, a stretch during which he boasts a stellar .455 average, 1.197 OPS and impressively modest 13.9 percent strikeout rate. • Beginning rehab assignment
Peraza (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment with Single-A Tampa on Tuesday.

Advice: Peraza is finally ready to test things out in a game setting after working his way back from a right shoulder strain which he initially suffered back in late February. Given how much time he's missed, he will presumably require more than a handful of rehab games. Peraza also isn't a given to immediately be added to the big-league roster, although the status of DJ LeMahieu (foot) will be a factor. Rotowire.com Today, 9:59 am

  • Notches first steal
Cronenworth went 2-for-4 with a run and a stolen base Monday in a 6-3 victory versus the Cubs.

Advice: Cronenworth's first theft of the campaign came as part of a double-steal with Fernando Tatis in the sixth inning, and both players subsequently came home on a Jurickson Profar single. Cronenworth doesn't typically offer much in terms of speed, though he did swipe a career-high six bags last season. The first baseman is working on a 10-game hitting streak during which he has slashed .357/.378/.690 with three homers, 10 RBI and seven runs. Rotowire.com Today, 9:57 am
  • Rays send Brandon Lowe on rehab assignment
Rays sent 2B Brandon Lowe (oblique) on a rehab assignment to Triple-A Durham.

Advice: Lowe was placed on the 10-day injured list in mid-April and the team has been careful with him before getting him to a minor league assignment. He’ll likely need to get two or three games under his belt since he’s been out for almost a month, but he’ll be a much-needed addition to the Rays and fantasy managers that have him on rosters. • Dealing with sore wrist
Garcia jammed his wrist Sunday sliding into second base and was replaced by pinch-hitter Ildemaro Vargas in the eighth inning, but he's not expected to miss much time, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Advice: The Nationals had an off day Monday, so Garcia might not end up missing a start, but it wouldn't be a surprise if manager Dave Martinez gave him an extra day to recover. Garcia has had a breakout season so far, slashing .337/.381/.510 with three homers and six steals in 105 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Today, 7:17 am

  • Pops fifth homer
Gordon went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Monday's loss to the Dodgers.

Advice: The 28-year-old outfielder took Walker Buehler deep in the top of the second inning to briefly tie the game at 3-3, but Los Angeles took the lead for good in the bottom of the frame. Gordon has gone yard in back-to-back games and is up to five homers on the year in only 32 games -- a surprisingly power display for a player whose career high is nine home runs in 138 games, set in 2022. The rest of Gordon's numbers are far less impressive, and he's slashing .212/.244/.424 with nine runs, 16 RBI and only one steal in two attempts. Rotowire.com Today, 6:29 am

  • Nabs fourth steal
Freeman went 2-for-3 with a double and a stolen base in Monday's 2-1 win over the Tigers.

Advice: Freeman opened May 1-for-12 across four contests, and his last multi-hit effort before Monday was April 19. The 24-year-old is slashing just .204/.301/.347 this season while adding three home runs, four steals, 12 RBI, 17 runs scored and five doubles across 113 plate appearances. With Steven Kwan (hamstring) landing on the injured list Monday, Freeman should have more job security in center field while Estevan Florial, Ramon Laureano and Will Brennan combine to fill the corner outfield spots. • Pops homer in win
Massey went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Monday's 3-2 win over the Brewers.

Advice: Massey got the Royals on the board in the seventh inning. The second baseman continues to hit well after a brief stretch to get up to speed following his April 19 season debut. Massey has hit safely in nine straight games and has an extra-base hit in five of the last six contests. He's slashing .294/.308/.529 with three homers, 10 RBI, nine runs scored, three doubles and no stolen bases through 53 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:54 pm
