    • Fans 10 in no-decision
Miller allowed one run on two hits and one walk while striking out 10 batters over seven innings in a no-decision against Atlanta on Monday.

Advice: Miller racked up 17 whiffs en route to a season-high 10 punchouts while mostly silencing a potent Atlanta offense. However, opposing starter Max Fried was even better with six hitless frames, and Miller actually departed in line for the loss after giving up a run in the seventh. He was taken off the hook, though, when Mitch Garver belted a walk-off homer in the ninth inning. The outing was Miller's fourth quality start over his past five appearances, and he's given up just four earned runs across 30.1 frames during that span. His 2.04 overall ERA ranks 12th among qualified MLB starters. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:41 pm
    • Bryce Miller whiffs 10 over seven scoreless
Bryce Miller allowed just a run on two hits in seven innings of work with 10 strikeouts, but still took a no-decision against Atlanta on Monday.

Advice: Miller was outstanding, as he was perfect through the first five frames before issuing a walk in the sixth. His no-hitter was broken up in the seventh by Ronald Acuna Jr;, and after Acuna Jr. stole second and third base, Ozzie Albies doubled in the go-ahead — and ultimately — winning run. It’s a disappointing ending, but it showed off the swing-and-miss stuff and vastly improved command that he’s shown in 2024. The Seattle rotation is phenomenal. The offense is another thing. Miller will take a 2.04 ERA into his start Sunday against the Astros. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:15 pm
    • Could need just one rehab start
Cubs manager Craig Counsell said Monday that it's possible Steele (hamstring) rejoins the rotation after his rehab start with Triple-A Iowa on Wednesday, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Advice: The left-hander's rehab start Wednesday will be his first outing since he suffered a left hamstring strain back on Opening Day. As long as Steele gets his pitch count up to a high enough threshold and recovers well from the start, it sounds like he could be back with the Cubs early next week. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:41 pm

    • Steele (hamstring) may make only one rehab start
Cubs manager Craig Counsell told reporters Monday that Justin Steele (hamstring) may only need one rehab start.

Advice: Steele is set to make a rehab start with Triple-A Iowa on Wednesday, and Counsell wouldn’t rule out that the southpaw could make his next start with the Cubs after that outing. Even is the 28-year-old needs to make one more rehab appearance after, it shouldn’t be long before Steele is back in the rotation for the Cubs and fantasy managers. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:23 pm

    • Stumbles again Sunday
Detmers (3-2) yielded five runs on nine hits over five innings Sunday, striking out three and taking a loss against the Twins.

Advice: Detmers fired three perfect innings before the Twins broke the scoreless tie in the fourth inning. He ran into more trouble in the fifth, coughing up four runs on five hits. After an incredible start to his season in which he produced a 30:7 K:BB and 1.19 ERA through four starts, Detmers has taken two straight losses, yielding nine runs in 12 innings. His ERA climbed to 3.12, but he still owns a strong 37:10 K:BB through 34.2 frames. Detmers is projected for a road start in Cleveland next weekend. Rotowire.com Sunday, 7:00 pm

    • Reid Detmers gives up five runs in loss to Twins
Reid Detmers struggled in Sunday afternoon’s loss to the Twins, giving up five runs on nine hits over his five frames.

Advice: The 24-year-old hurler struck out three batters on the afternoon and didn’t walk a batter. He kept the Twins off the board through the first three innings, but they broke through in the fourth on an RBI single by Jose Miranda. They tacked on an additional four runs in the fifth inning — keyed by a two-run single off the bat of Austin Martin. Detmers got nine swings and misses on 87 pitches on the night, registering a CSW of 33 percent. He’ll look to bounce back as he brings a 3.12 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and a 37/10 K/BB ratio (34 2/3 innings) into Saturday’s tilt against the Guardians in Cleveland. Rotoworld Sunday, 5:02 pm

    • Another impressive start
Skubal (4-0) earned the win Sunday, allowing one run on four hits and one walk over seven innings against the Royals. He struck out six.

Advice: Skubal began the day by allowing a leadoff double to Maikel Garcia followed by an RBI single by Bobby Witt, but the Royals were able to muster only two harmless singles and a walk the rest of the way. Skubal entered the contest with an ERA of 5.09 and only one win in eight decisions over 11 career appearances against Kansas City but quickly settled in to post his fourth start out of six this season in which he's allowed one or fewer runs with no more than five baserunners against. Skubal, whose strong outing dropped his season-long ERA to 1.72 with a 0.74 WHIP, will look to continue his early-season dominance in his next start, tentatively slated to take place in New York with a weekend matchup against the Yankees. • Skubal stymies Royals on Sunday
Tarik Skubal allowed one run on four hits in seven innings in a win over the Royals.

Advice: Skubal struck out six and walked one while throwing 91 pitches in those seven innings. He allowed just one extra-base hit and posted an impressive 34 percent whiff rate and 35 percent CSW. Interestingly, Skubal threw just 13 combined sliders and curves today, opting instead to rely heavily on pounding the zone with his four-seam and sinker and getting a tremendous 55 percent whiff rate on his changeup. However, part of what has made Skubal so good is a deeper arsenal that now allows him to go away from certain pitches and still have dominant outings. He has a tougher matchup next week against the Yankees, but you start him everywhere. Rotoworld Sunday, 1:41 pm

    • Picks up third win
Blanco (3-0) earned the win Saturday over Colorado after he gave up two runs on five hits and two walks across 5.2 innings. He struck out eight.

Advice: The right-hander surrendered a two-run homer to Ryan McMahon in the opening frame but otherwise had no issues pitching at altitude in Mexico City. Blanco came up an out short of extending his streak of quality starts to five, but it was yet another strong performance. The 30-year-old has been a bright spot amid a horrible start to the season for Houston with a 1.65 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 30:14 K:BB across 32.2 innings. Rotowire.com Sunday, 6:04 am
