      Wheeler did not factor into the decision in Tuesday's loss to the Giants, throwing six scoreless innings while allowing just two hits and two walks. He struck out nine.

      Advice: Wheeler's excellent start got wasted after the Phillies were shut out in Tuesday's loss. The Giants scattered just two hits against him, and his most dominant inning came in the third when he struck out the side. Tuesday was Wheeler's third start this season tossing a shutout while allowing two or fewer hits and striking out at least eight. He now has nine quality starts in 12 tries and will carry a 2.32 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 85:23 K:BB (73.2 innings) into a projected outing against the Brewers to begin next week.       Peralta didn't factor into the decision Tuesday against the Cubs, allowing one run on three hits and two walks across 5.2 innings. He struck out 11.

      Advice: Peralta got no run support again Tuesday, with the Brewers being held scoreless until the bottom of the ninth. Still, the 28-year-old generated 23 swinging strikes in less than six innings and tied his season high in Ks. His only blemish was a solo homer by Michael Busch in the third inning. After yielding three or more runs in three straight starts to open up May, Peralta has yielded two runs -- both solo homers -- with 18 strikeouts in 12.2 innings during his last two starts.       Zack Wheeler blanked the Giants for six innings, allowing just two hits, in a no-decision Tuesday.

      Advice: Wheeler wasn’t at his most efficient tonight, but that didn’t really matter, since the Phillies went 10 innings without scoring. It’s Wheeler’s ninth quality start in 12 tries, and he lowered his ERA to 2.32. Still, the Phillies bizarrely are only 6-6 when he pitches, compared to 32-12 the rest of the time.       Pfaadt (2-4) allowed four runs on six hits and a walk while striking out five over seven innings to take the loss versus the Rangers on Tuesday.

      Advice: Pfaadt covered at least six innings for the sixth start in a row, but this was the third time this year he's allowed at least four earned runs -- Josh Smith had an RBI single in the third inning and Corey Seager continued his power surge with a three-run home run in the fifth.     • Freddy Peralta strikes out 11 in loss to Cubs
      Freddy Peralta allowed one earned run and three hits over 5 2/3 innings while striking out 11 in Tuesday’s loss to the Cubs.

      Advice: Peralta was solid in this one, striking out 11 batters while allowing just five total base runners. A solo homer by Michael Busch in the third inning was his lone blemish on the night, as Peralta largely held the Cubs in check. He was bailed out of a loss thanks to a two-out RBI single by Willy Adames in the ninth and is now sporting a 3.61 ERA and 1.06 WHIP through 11 games.     • Pfaadt allows four earned runs in loss to Rangers
      Brandon Pfaadt allowed six hits and four earned runs over seven innings in the Diamondbacks’ loss to the Rangers.

      Advice: Pfaadt got some early run support in the second inning but the Diamondbacks were unable to keep pace with the Rangers, who hung three runs on Pfaadt in the fifth inning via a Corey Seager three-run homer. Pfaadt allowed three or more earned runs in three of his five starts in May, and picked up just one win on the month.     • Tosses seven shutout in no-decision
      Steele did not factor into the decision Monday against Milwaukee, allowing three hits and one walk over seven shutout innings. He struck out eight.

      Advice: Steele posted his best start since returning from a hamstring injury May 6, generating 13 whiffs in 93 total pitches. The Cubs lefty limited a ferocious Brewers offense that entered with the fourth-best team wRC+ at 115, allowing Milwaukee to scatter only four singles.       Justin Steele threw seven shutout innings and got a no-decision against the Brewers on Monday.



      Advice: Steele allowed three hits, a walk and struck out eight. He looked like the pitcher we saw last year who had a 3.06 ERA and 176 strikeouts. Steele lowered his ERA to 4.45, but there should still be room for growth as his xFIP is 3.71. The 28-year-old left-hander is set to face the Reds on the road this weekend.

    • Roughed up by Milwaukee
      Pivetta (2-3) took a loss Saturday against the Brewers, yielding five runs on seven hits and three walks over just 3.1 innings. He notched three strikeouts.

      Advice: Pivetta struck out two in a 1-2-3 first inning, but it was a struggle after that. He managed to escape a bases-loaded situation in the second inning, but in the third the Brewers had six straight runners reach base (five via hits) with two outs and scored five runs. Pivetta has now had two great outings but also two duds since coming back from the injured list.
