      Cubs manager Craig Counsell said Wednesday that everything went well during Steele's (hamstring) rehab start with Triple-A Iowa, and the left-hander will meet with the team Friday after a Thursday workout, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.

      Advice: The 28-year-old hurt his hamstring in late March, but he's in the latter stages of his rehab program. It was only the first rehab outing for Steele, but if he checks out well Friday it's possible his next start comes with the big-league club. Rotowire.com 34 minutes ago

      Raley is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against Atlanta.

      Advice: The lefty-hitting Raley had started in left field in four of the past five games, but he'll head to the bench for the series finale with southpaw Chris Sale on the bump for Atlanta. Switch-hitter Sam Haggerty will draw the start in left field Wednesday, but Raley should occupy the strong side of a platoon at the position until Dominic Canzone (shoulder) returns from the 10-day injured list.     • Freddy Peralta suspended five games
      Freddy Peralta was suspended five games after hitting Jose Siri on Tuesday.

      Advice: Peralta was having another stellar outing for the Brewers on Tuesday and the only run he allowed was a home run from Jose Siri. Later in the game, Peralta hit Siri in the sixth inning which was deemed an intentional act by the home plate umpire and led to his ejection, as well as Milwaukee manager Pat Murphy. Peralta will appeal the five-game suspension handed to him by Major League Baseball, while Murphy was given a two-game suspension which he is serving starting on Wednesday.     • Gets five-game ban, will appeal
      Peralta was suspended five games by Major League Baseball on Wednesday for intentionally throwing at the Rays' Jose Siri in Tuesday's 8-2 win, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. He'll appeal the suspension.

      Advice: The right-handed was ejected from Tuesday's contest after the umpiring crew concluded that Peralta threw at Siri intentionally one plate appearance after Siri had hit a home run. Since Peralta is appealing the suspension, he should be able to make his next scheduled start on Sunday against the Cubs, if the appeal process isn't completed before then.     • Blanks reds over five innings
      Darvish (1-1) grabbed a win over the Reds on Tuesday, tossing five shutout innings while allowing just three hits in the outing. He struck three and did not walk a batter.

      Advice: Darvish was finally able to pick up his first win of the season and help the Padres end a five-game losing streak. Tuesday was his first shutout effort since July 29 of last year. He was efficient, needing 70 pitches to get through five while inducing a bunch of weak contact. His strikeout numbers remain low in comparison to his career numbers, as he's now struck out three or fewer batters in three of his six starts so far. Still, Tuesday's outing was exactly what the Padres needed out of him, and he'll take a 3.45 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 25:10 K:BB into his next outing, which projects to be against the Cubs at the beginning of next week.     • Jackson Holliday resumes mashing at Triple-A
      Orioles 2B/SS prospect Jackson Holliday went 3-for-6 with an RBI on Tuesday for Triple-A Norfolk.

      Advice: Holliday flopped in his first taste of the big leagues as Baltimore continued to challenge him from a development standpoint. However, that shouldn’t diminish fantasy managers’ long-term optimism. The latest multi-hit effort raises his Triple-A slash line to .321/.451/.554 with nine extra-base hits and one steal through 13 contests. He’ll get some extended time in the minors to continue ironing out contact issues and struggles against left-handed pitching, but it’s only a matter of time before he gets another shot in Baltimore.     • Strikes out seven before ejection
      Peralta (3-0) earned the win Tuesday against Tampa Bay, allowing two earned runs on one hit while striking out seven batters across 5.1 innings.

      Advice: Peralta was fantastic again Tuesday, needing just 66 pitches to get through 5.1 innings while only allowing one hit -- a Jose Siri home run. The 27-year-old pitcher wasn't showing any signs of slowing down on the mound, but his start came to an abrupt and controversial end when he hit Siri with a pitch in the sixth inning. The umpires deemed the HBP an intentional act, leading to Peralta's ejection from the game. Despite being tossed, Tuesday's outing was a strong bounce-back performance from his five-run showing Thursday against Pittsburgh. He has now struck out 45 batters in 33.2 innings this year and will carry a 3.21 ERA and 0.86 WHIP into his next start -- currently projected for Monday in Kansas City.     • Yu Darvish blanks Reds for five innings in win
      Yu Darvish shut out the Reds for five innings to win Tuesday in his return from the injured list.

      Advice: Darvish allowed three hits, walked none and struck out three in the 6-4 victory. It’s his first win in six starts this season, and it’s the first time he’s gone without allowing a run since last July 29 against the Rangers.     • Hard-luck loss Tuesday
      Berrios (4-2) took the loss Tuesday against the Royals, allowing two runs on five hits and a walk over seven innings. He struck out three.

      Advice: Berrios was solid Tuesday, holding the Royals to two runs on a Michael Massey homer in the second inning en route to a sixth quality start in seven outings this year. However, the 29-year-old Berrios was ultimately stuck with a second straight loss to Kansas City as the Blue Jays could only muster a lone run off Cole Ragans. Berrios lowered his ERA to an excellent 1.44 with a 1.01 WHIP and 31:13 K:BB through 43.2 innings this season.
