    • Nick Pivetta tagged for five runs by Padres
Nick Pivetta surrendered five runs in four-plus innings Friday in a loss to the Padres.

Advice: Pivetta pitched four scoreless innings, striking out four, before giving up four straight hits and a walk to begin the fifth. He was pulled at that point, and the Padres ended up scoring nine times in the frame. Pivetta has allowed 15 earned runs over 19 1/3 innings in his last four starts, taking his season ERA from 3.40 to 4.52. We would say he’s droppable in mixed leagues at this point, but since he faces the Marlins in Miami next time out, it’s probably worth giving him one more chance. Rotoworld 58 minutes ago

    • Yordan Alvarez doubles twice in loss
Yordan Alvarez went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a walk, and a run scored on Friday against the Mets.

Advice: Alvarez was on base four times in this one as the Mets just could not figure him out. All three of his balls in play were hit at least 108.9 MPH as his OPS has drifted all the way back up to .892, 11th highest in the league. Rotoworld 59 minutes ago

    • Luke Raley (shoulder) remains out of lineup Friday
Luke Raley (shoulder) remains out of the Mariners’ starting lineup for Friday night’s showdown against the Twins.

Advice: Raley will miss his second straight game due to soreness in his shoulder. The good news, is that an MRI revealed no structural damage and the 29-year-old outfielder is expected to be available off the Mariners’ bench on Friday. He should be considered day-to-day. • Eduardo Rodriguez heading for follow-up MRI
Eduardo Rodriguez (lat) will undergo another follow-up MRI exam on July 6.

Advice: If all goes well with that exam, it sounds like the 31-year-old southpaw will finally be cleared to resume throwing off of a mound. Once that’s done, he’ll need several sessions off the mound before facing live hitters and then several minor league rehab starts before he’s ready to join the Diamondbacks’ rotation. It seems optimistic to expect him back anytime before the beginning of August. Rotoworld Today, 4:19 pm

    • MRI set for July 6
Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said Friday that Rodriguez (shoulder) is scheduled for a follow-up MRI on July 6, Jesse Friedman of GoPHNX.com reports.

Advice: Rodriguez extended his throwing program out to 105 feet earlier in June, and Lovullo noted that the southpaw could start throwing off the mound depending on the results of the MRI. Rodriguez has been out all season after straining his left shoulder in spring training, and his initial throwing program was shut down in April due to shoulder tightness. • On bench again
Raley (shoulder) is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Twins.

Advice: Raley was scratched from Wednesday's game with shoulder soreness and, despite Thursday's team off day, he'll remain out of the starting nine for the series opener against Minnesota. Up to this point, all indications are that the injury isn't of concern. Dominic Canzone, Julio Rodriguez and Mitch Haniger fill the outfield Friday. Rotowire.com Today, 2:31 pm

    • Gleyber Torres returns to Yankees lineup Friday
Gleyber Torres returned to the Yankees’ starting lineup on Friday night.

Advice: Torres may have been dealing with a minor injury, or his absence from the lineup the last two days could have been a punishment for failing to run out a ground ball. Either way, he’s back in there at second base and batting fifth against Yusei Kikuchi and the Blue Jays on Friday evening in Toronto. The 27-year-old is slashing a miserable .215/.294/.333 with seven homers, 29 RBI and four stolen bases on the season. Rotoworld Today, 1:27 pm

    • Returns to lineup
Torres is batting fifth and playing second base Friday at Toronto.

Advice: Torres is 2-for-29 at the plate since June 14 and was given back-to-back days off to clear his head amid the slump. The second baseman is 10-for-26 (.385) in his career against Yusei Kikuchi, who's the Blue Jays' starting pitcher Friday. Rotowire.com Today, 1:23 pm

    • Bounces back with victory
Berrios (7-6) earned the win against the Yankees on Thursday, allowing two runs on two hits and three walks while striking out eight batters over seven innings.

Advice: Berrios had been struggling coming into Thursday, allowing nine runs over 11 frames across his past two starts. He rebounded nicely against New York, giving up just two runs on a fifth-inning homer by Trent Grisham. The right-handed hurler also registered a season-high eight strikeouts en route to his 12th quality start. Berrios has posted a mediocre 6.6 K/9 on the campaign but is nonetheless in the midst of a fine season with a 3.38 ERA and 1.11 WHIP over 104 innings. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:26 pm
