Advice: Pivetta was downright dominant Thursday, racking up 15 swinging strikes en route to his second double-digit punchout performance of the campaign. He held the Marlins hitless until Jesus Sanchez tripled against him in the seventh inning, and the right-hander departed in line for a victory with a 2-0 lead. However, Boston's bullpen eliminated Pivetta's chance for the win by giving up two runs in the bottom of the eighth. Steals base, scores three runsSuzuki went 2-for-3 with two walks, three runs and a stolen base Thursday against the Phillies.
Advice: Suzuki entered the game having struck out 12 times against just one walk in 25 plate appearances over his previous six games but reached base four times on two hits and a couple of walks, leading to a season-high three runs scored. It was just the fourth time this season Suzuki drew multiple free passes in a game. He also recorded his eighth stolen base of the season in 10 tries, leaving him just one shy of a career high. Wyatt Langford puts on a show in losing effortWyatt Langford delivered an RBI single on Thursday in the Rangers’ loss to the Padres.
Advice: Langford made a pair of unbelievable highlight-reel worthy defensive plays and was responsible for plating the Rangers’ lone run of the contest with a run-scoring single off Padres starter Michael King in the sixth inning. The 22-year-old top prospect has been excellent over the last few weeks, batting .303 (33-for-109) with three homers and six steals over his last 30 games. He’s yet another textbook example of why fantasy managers should exercise patience with talented top prospects, even if they struggle initially upon reaching the majors. Advice: It’s nice seeing Suzuki with eight steals in 10 attempts this season after he was just 6-for-13 last year. He’s not excelling in any fantasy category, but neither has he been a liability in any while batting .263 with 11 homers, 35 runs scored and 34 RBI in 62 games. Pivetta takes no hitter into seventh vs. MarlinsNick Pivetta struck out 10 while allowing just one hit over seven scoreless innings, but he didn’t pick up a decision against the Marlins on Thursday.
Advice: Pivetta took a no-no into the seventh inning, but he gave up his first hit with two outs in that frame on a triple to Jesus Sanchez. It was a dominating effort for the 31-year-old, and nice to see after a run of mediocre starts for the right-hander. It certainly helped that he was facing a well-below-average lineup in Miami, but Pivetta’s stuff would’ve beaten most Thursday. Unfortunately, the bullpen didn’t get the job done. Advice: Bohm was named the National League's All-Star starter at third base earlier in the day, and his performance Wednesday was a good example of what he can do. He's up to 11 homers on the year, with five of them coming over his last 15 games. The 27-year-old has added a .299/.351/.494 slash line, 70 RBI, 40 runs scored, four stolen bases, 28 doubles and a triple over 84 contests. Rotowire.com
