    • Luke Raley hits two-run double to help M’s top Jays
Luke Raley hit a two-run double to help the Mariners to a 2-1 win over the Blue Jays on Friday.

Advice: Raley gave Seattle a 2-0 lead with a two-run double off Kevin Gausman. The first-year Mariner has nine doubles on the season while driving home 25 runs. Raley has been one of the more consistent hitters for Seattle, but that’s a bit of faint praise considering his slash of .249/.294/.430. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:13 pm

    • Blows save, earns win
Helsley (3-3) earned the win and blew a save against the Nationals on Friday, allowing one unearned run on two hits and a walk with no strikeouts over two innings.

Advice: Helsley was summoned to protect a 6-5 lead in the 10th inning but allowed the automatic runner to score. He was brought back out with another one-run lead in the eleventh and was able to secure the win in his first multi-inning effort of the season. On the year, the closer leads the league with 31 saves and owns a 2.41 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 47:17 K:BB over 41 innings. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:12 pm
    • Ryan Helsley blows save in 10th, grabs win in 11th
Ryan Helsey blew the save Friday against the Nationals despite not allowing an earned run. He also gave up two hits, an intentional walk, and didn’t strike a batter out across two innings.

Advice: A shortcoming of the Ghost Runner rule: Helsley entered a one-run game in the 10th inning, allowed the automatic runner to score from second base, and got tagged with a blown save. He did well to get out of a jam with runners on second and third with one out when Juan Yepez lined into an inning ending double play. He hung on for a 1-2-3 inning in the 11th inning and still managed to snag the win. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:26 pm
    • Managing groin tightness
Torres exited Friday's game against the Red Sox due to right groin tightness.

Advice: Torres suffered a similar injury to his right groin a few weeks ago, and he seems to have aggravated the issue while legging out an infield single during Friday's contest. The Yankees don't have any plans in place to take him in for imaging at the moment, which suggests the team doesn't believe his latest flareup is anything too severe. However, it remains possible the 27-year-old sits out Saturday's contest as a precaution. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:45 pm

    • Gleyber Torres leaves game with groin tightness
Gleyber Torres was pulled from Friday’s contest against the Red Sox in the fourth inning due to right groin tightness.

Advice: It’s the same injury that has been bothering Torres for a while now, but the Yankees announced that they don’t believe it’s severe enough to require imaging. If that’s the case, it seems unlikely that he’ll require a trip to the injured list. For now, he should be considered day-to-day, but a lot may depend on how he’s feeling when he wakes up on Saturday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:29 pm

    • Exits with apparent injury
Torres was removed from Friday's game versus Boston with an apparent leg injury, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.

Advice: Torres came up limping after beating out an infield single in the fourth inning, and he was immediately replaced on first base by Oswaldo Cabrera. Torres missed a few games in June due to a groin issue. The details of his latest injury will come once the Yankees are able to take a closer look at him. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:55 pm

    • Gleyber Torres leaves game with apparent injury
Gleyber Torres was removed from Friday night’s showdown against the Red Sox in the fourth inning due to an apparent injury.

Advice: Torres hustled out an infield single that loaded the bases in the third inning, but he came up hobbling and had to be pulled from the game. It’s unclear if it’s a recurrence of the groin issue that he has been dealing with, or if he tweaked something in his leg while busting it down the line. Expect the Yankees to provide an update on his status shortly. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:46 pm

    • Back in action Friday
Bichette (forearm) will start at shortstop and bat second Friday against the Mariners.

Advice: Bichette was hit by a pitch during Wednesday's contest and had to sit out Thursday's game as a result, but he seems to be feeling well enough to play Friday. The 26-year-old has been having a down season at the plate, posting a career-worst .613 OPS in 308 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:57 pm

    • Justin Steele throws complete game for first win
Justin Steele went the distance for his first win of 2024, pitching a two-hitting in a 5-1 game against the Angels.

Advice: The Cubs didn’t need to turn to their shaky pen this time out, as Steele finished off the Angels in just 95 pitches. He struck out seven and walked two for his first win in 13 starts this season and 18 outings dating back to last year, when he opened up 16-3 before going 0-2 in his final four turns and perhaps costing himself a Cy Young Award. Of course, it was hardly his fault that he was 0-3 this year coming into this one. His ERA stands at 2.95 after this one. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:32 pm
