    • Returns to starting lineup
Soler (shoulder) is serving as the designated hitter and batting in the leadoff spot for Friday's game against the Rockies, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Advice: The Giants reinstated Soler from the 10-day injured list Friday, per Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com. Soler made two rehab appearances with Triple-A Sacramento, and he went 2-for-3 with one RBI in his second outing Thursday. Before landing on the IL, the 32-year-old was slashing .202/.294/.361 with five home runs and eight RBI over 136 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Friday, 3:39 pm

    • Jorge Soler (shoulder) returns to Giants’ lineup
Giants activated OF Jorge Soler from the 10-day injured list.

Advice: The 32-year-old slugger will return to the Giants’ lineup on Friday night against the Rockies, serving as their leadoff man and designated hitter. Before landing on the injured list with a right shoulder strain, Soler had been hitting a disappointing .202/.294/.361 with five long balls and only eight RBI in 34 games. • Yordan Alvarez getting a night off on Friday
Yordan Alvarez is not in the Astros’ starting lineup for Friday night’s matchup against the Brewers.

Advice: It’s a rare and well-deserved night off for the 26-year-old slugger, who will still probably appear off the bench in a critical spot on Friday night. Yainer Diaz will function as the team’s designated hitter and will bat fifth against Brewers’ right-hander Freddy Peralta. Rotoworld Friday, 2:46 pm

    • Receiving rest day
Alvarez is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Brewers, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Advice: Alvarez has a .646 OPS through 15 games in May and went 1-for-11 with five strikeouts over the past three contests. He'll sit after starting the first 44 games of the campaign. Yainer Diaz will serve as the designated hitter Friday while Victor Caratini starts behind the plate. Rotowire.com Friday, 1:42 pm

    • Carroll returns to the lineup on Friday
Corbin Carroll is back in the Diamondbacks lineup, batting second against the Tigers on Friday.

Advice: Carroll came off the bench and pinch ran and scored a run on Wednesday. Fantasy managers have to be frustrated with Carroll’s production so far this season as he’s hitting just .193 with a .539 OPS. Only seven qualified hitters have a lower batting average entering play Friday. It’s not what you want from a first round pick. Rotoworld Friday, 12:25 pm
    • Grabbing seat Friday
Suzuki is not in the lineup for Friday's contest against the Pirates.

Advice: Suzuki homered Wednesday in Atlanta but is just 6-for-26 at the dish since returning from the injured list. With Paul Skenes on the hill for the Pirates on Friday, a day off for Suzuki makes sense. Cody Bellinger will shift over to right field while Pete Crow-Armstrong handles center and Mike Tauchman serves as the designated hitter. Rotowire.com Friday, 8:37 am

    • Suzuki gets day off Friday
Seiya Suzuki is not in the Cubs lineup for Friday’s game against the Pirates.

Advice: Suzuki started and batted second against the Pirates on Thursday. Pete Crow-Armstrong will get to start in center with Cody Bellinger shifting to right field. Suzuki is hitting .282 with an .826 OPS this season. Rotoworld Friday, 8:30 am

    • Jorge Soler (shoulder) continues rehab assignment
Jorge Soler (shoulder) will play another minor league rehab contest on Thursday for Triple-A Sacramento.

Advice: Soler went 0-for-4 with a strikeout on Wednesday in his rehab assignment debut. The 32-year-old slugger checked out fine after being hit in the head by a deflection during batting practice earlier this week and should be ready to return to San Francisco’s lineup at some point in the near future. He landed on the injured list earlier this month with a right shoulder strain. Rotoworld Thursday, 5:30 pm

    • Records third steal Wednesday
Raley went 2-for-4 with an RBI single and a stolen base in a win over the Royals on Wednesday.

Advice: Raley delivered a timely single in the eighth inning that plated pinch runner Leonardo Rivas, extending the Mariners' lead back to two runs after Bobby Witt had brought the Royals within one in the top half of the frame. Raley's multi-hit effort was an extension of a torrid stretch at the plate for the offseason addition, one that's seen him generate a .435 average and 1.219 OPS over the last seven games.
