    • Back from injured list
Urshela (hamstring) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list and is starting at third base Tuesday against the Marlins, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Advice: The 32-year-old landed on the shelf with a strained hamstring April 20, but he's ready to rejoin the Tigers after a three-game rehab assignment, during which he went 5-for-8 with a walk, an RBI and two runs. Prior to the injury, Urshela posted a .298 average through 18 games but didn't provide much pop with just two extra-base hits (both doubles). Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:00 pm

    • Gio Urshela gets activated, draws start for Tigers
Tigers activated 3B Gio Urshela from the 10-day injured list.

Advice: Urshela is playing third base and batting sixth tonight against Marlins lefty Ryan Weathers. He should be a lineup fixture versus southpaws and also see a fair amount of time against righties, with Matt Vierling seeing occasional outfield duty in those situations. • Goes deep again Monday
Torkelson went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Monday's 6-5 win over the Marlins.

Advice: After going the first 37 games of the season without launching any home runs, Torkelson has now blasted off in consecutive contests. Both home runs were two-run shots, and the 24-year-old could certainly keep it going, as he's shown the ability to hit long balls in bunches. Torkelson recorded a career-best 31 home runs last year, to go along with 94 RBI. Rotowire.com Monday, 7:02 pm

    • Spencer Torkelson hits go-ahead homer vs. Marlins
Spencer Torkelson slugged a go-ahead two-run homer on Monday, lifting the Tigers to a 6-5 victory over the Marlins.

Advice: It was a big-time moment for Torkelson, who desperately needed one after a rocky few weeks to start to the year. The 24-year-old former first-overall pick connected for a go-ahead blast off Marlins reliever Anthony Maldonado in the eighth inning for just his second round-tripper of the season. It’s difficult to pinpoint the root of his struggles, especially since his plate skills have remained adequate, but he’s coming off a 31-homer campaign and should start hitting for more power once the weather warms up. He’s homered in back-to-back contests and might finally be getting going at the dish. Rotoworld Monday, 6:52 pm

    • Gio Urshela (hamstring) likely to return Tuesday
Gio Urshela will likely rejoin the Tigers prior to Tuesday’s game.

Advice: Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press anticipates that Akil Baddoo will be sent down to make room. Urshela, out since April 19 with a strained hamstring, is 5-for-8 over three games on a rehab assignment. He’ll likely see quite a bit of time at third base, with Matt Vierling getting more action in the outfield. Rotoworld Monday, 1:33 pm

    • Launches first homer of 2024
Torkelson went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 9-3 loss to the Astros.

Advice: Torkelson finally broke through for his first home run of the 2024 season, launching a two-run shot off of Houston reliever Seth Martinez with two outs in the bottom of the ninth. After producing 31 home runs over 159 games in 2023, it took the first baseman 38 contests to go deep in 2024. Torkelson is now batting .224 with a home run, 14 RBI and 15 runs scored over those 38 games. Rotowire.com Sunday, 7:06 pm

    • Spencer Torkelson gets first homer of 2024
Spencer Torkelson finally hit his first homer of the season Sunday against the Astros.

Advice: It was about as meaningless as a homer can be, coming with the Tigers down 9-1 with two outs in the ninth, but let’s not worry about that. Torkelson, who hit 31 homers last season, got his first today in his 164th plate appearances and 38th game. He had four doubles in his previous six games, so it did seem like the drought was due to end. His OPS has climbed from .553 on May 4 to .627 now. Rotoworld Sunday, 3:03 pm

    • Progressing through rehab
Urshela (hamstring) took part in fielding work Saturday and could soon return from the 10-day injured list, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Urshela has played two games with Triple-A Toledo on his rehab assignment. He started at third base in his most recent appearance Friday and went 1-for-3. Urshela is scheduled to play for Toledo on Sunday as he continues to work his way back from a strained right hamstring he sustained April 19 against the Twins. Rotowire.com Saturday, 11:36 am

    • Begins rehab assignment
Urshela (hamstring) began a rehab assignment at Triple-A Toledo on Thursday.

Advice: Urshela has been on the injured list since April 20 due to a strained right hamstring, and he has now been given the go-ahead to test his hamstring in a competitive setting. It's unclear how long he will remain in the minors, but it's possible the Tigers wait to activate him until Monday ahead of their upcoming series against the Marlins. Rotowire.com Thursday, 3:53 pm
