Player Notes

  • Garners fourth straight start
Schuemann will start at second base and bat sixth in Sunday's game against the Orioles.

Advice: Schuemann has now occupied the keystone in four straight contests and could be the preferred option over Abraham Toro at the position while Zack Gelof (oblique) is on the injured list. The 26-year-old rookie has done little to build much job security to this point, however, as he enters Sunday's contest with a .118/.250/.294 slash line across 20 plate appearances on the season. • Not in Sunday's lineup
Martinez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cardinals, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Advice: Martinez went 3-for-8 with a double, an RBI and five strikeouts in his first two games with the Mets but will take a seat for Sunday's series finale versus St. Louis. DJ Stewart will step in as the designated hitter and bat cleanup. Rotowire.com Today, 7:38 am
  • Heads to injured list
The Marlins placed Garcia on the 10-day injured list Sunday with a left hamstring strain, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com reports.

Advice: The veteran outfielder presumably suffered the injury Saturday against the Nationals, as he went 1-for-2 with a strikeout before being replaced by a pinch hitter. The severity of the injury is unclear, but Garcia will be sidelined until at least May 8. Dane Myers was called up in a corresponding move. Rotowire.com Today, 7:19 am
  • Dane Myers recalled from Triple-A by Marlins
Marlins recalled OF Dane Myers from Triple-A Jacksonville.

Advice: Myers will take the roster spot of Avisail Garcia after Garcia was placed on the 10-day injured list with a hamstring strain. Myers had registered just a .659 OPS in Triple-A prior to being recalled, and isn’t a recommended fantasy addition. Rotoworld Today, 7:16 am
  • Walks, scores in return
Fraley went 1-for-3 with a walk and run scored in Saturday's 8-4 win over Texas.

Advice: Fraley, who returned from a week-long absence due to an illness, walked in his first plate appearance and came around to score. He was eventually removed late in the game as part of a defensive realignment. Rotowire.com Today, 6:47 am
  • Homers in win
Benson went 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBI in Saturday's 8-4 win over the Rangers.

Advice: Benson homered and donned the celebratory Viking helmet for the fourth time this season. He's scuffled since the middle of the month and entered Saturday's contest on a 3-for-32 (.094) stretch. Despite the struggles, Benson was recently elevated to leadoff against right-handers, but it's unclear if the experiment will continue. The lefty-hitting outfielder is 4-for-21 (.190) with a .227 on-base percentage in five games as the leadoff hitter. Rotowire.com Today, 6:40 am
  • Clubs sixth homer
Stanton went 2-for-5 with a three-run home run during Saturday's 15-3 win at Milwaukee.

Advice: The veteran slugger entered Saturday without a homer in eight straight games, but he went deep in the ninth inning against position player Owen Miller. Stanton also had an infield single in the opening frame but struck out in his other three plate appearances, which is his second game this season with three strikeouts. Even including Saturday's homer, Stanton has a .214/.290/.393 slash line over his past nine games. Rotowire.com Today, 6:34 am
  • Season-high three RBI in loss
Adell went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in Saturday's loss to the Twins.

Advice: Adell launched a two-out, two-run homer in his first trip to the plate to bring the Angels back within two runs of Minnesota before adding an RBI single in his next at-bat, giving him a season-high three RBI in the contest. It also marked the outfielder's first three-hit performance of the campaign and he's now tallied multiple hits in three of his last six games. Adell is batting .350 in April with three homers, nine RBI and eight runs scored. Rotowire.com Today, 6:26 am
  • Back in lineup
McCarthy started in right field, batted leadoff and went 1-for-3 with a walk, triple and an RBI in Saturday's 3-1 loss to the Mariners.

Advice: McCarthy was back in the starting lineup after sitting out the previous two games and tripled home the Diamondbacks' lone run in the eighth inning. This was his first time batting atop the order, as primary leadoff hitter Ketel Marte was moved to third. With the triple, McCarthy extended a hit streak to six games, going 8-for-18 with three walks, two RBI and four runs. Rotowire.com Today, 6:24 am
