    • Set to return from IL this week
Rodriguez (back) rejoined the Blue Jays following his rehab start with Triple-A Buffalo on Sunday and is expected to be reinstated from the 15-day injured list later this week, Francys Romero of BeisbolFR.com reports.

Advice: In his sixth and final rehab outing with Buffalo, Rodriguez tossed 79 pitches over three innings, striking out seven while giving up two earned runs on three hits and three walks. Per Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca, Rodriguez's fastball averaged 93 miles per hour -- just one tick behind his season-long average over four starts with Toronto -- and topped out at 96. He'll likely step in as the Blue Jays' new No. 5 starter during this weekend's series in Cleveland, though manager John Schneider could choose to deploy Rodriguez as part of a tandem with Bowden Francis. In three of his previous four starts prior to landing on the IL on April 30 with thoracic spine inflammation, Rodriguez had been followed by Francis out of the bullpen and covered between three and four innings on each occasion. • Shut down with injury at Triple-A
Triple-A Buffalo placed Danner on its 7-day injured list Tuesday with an unspecified injury.

Advice: Danner is a member of the Blue Jays' 40-man roster, but he's pitched exclusively with Buffalo this season. Over 22.2 innings out of the Triple-A bullpen, Danner has turned in a 3.18 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 24:9 K:BB. Rotowire.com 15 minutes ago

    • Shut down at Triple-A
Triple-A Buffalo placed Espino on its 7-day injured list Wednesday with an unspecified injury.

Advice: Espino hadn't pitched for Buffalo since May 30 before he was deactivated. The 37-year-old right-hander made two appearances for the Blue Jays earlier in the season and still possesses a spot on Toronto's 40-man roster, but he's pitched exclusively at the Triple-A level since mid-April. He owns a 4.57 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 29:15 K:BB in 43.1 innings over his nine starts with Buffalo. Rotowire.com 17 minutes ago

    • Knocked around by Mets on Sunday
Estrada retired only one batter (via strikeout) while giving up four runs on five hits and one walk against the Mets on Sunday.

Advice: When Estrada entered in the bottom of the eighth inning, the Padres were only one run down after posting a four-run top of the frame. However, the reliever negated the comeback bid by allowing four runs of his own as New York racked up five hits -- including a homer and a double -- against him. Estrada began his tenure with San Diego in eye-opening fashion, allowing just two earned runs over his first 21 innings while recording a 35:7 K:BB. However, he's come back to earth in his past two outings, giving up five runs over 1.1 frames. Rotowire.com 33 minutes ago
    • Handling Triple-A
Meadows is slashing .276/.377/.520 with seven home runs, 13 steals and a 20.5 percent strikeout rate in 151 plate appearances for Triple-A Toledo.

Advice: Meadows flopped after making the team as the everyday center fielder to start the season, slashing .096/.224/.219 with a 37.6 percent strikeout rate in 32 games before being optioned to Triple-A on May 6. He doesn't turn 25 until November and is hitting the ball pretty hard (33.0 Hard%) while making contact at an acceptable 75.6 percent clip since being sent to Triple-A for a reset. Wenceel Perez has a .512 OPS over his last 20 games with the big club, and Meadows is a superior defender to Perez, so perhaps Detroit could look to make a roster move in the coming days/weeks. • On base four times Sunday
Martinez went 2-for-3 with two walks, a double, a run scored and an RBI in Sunday's win over the Padres.

Advice: The veteran DH was a key part of the Mets' 11-run eruption Sunday, and Martinez enjoyed a huge weekend overall against San Diego -- he went 6-for-9 at the plate with two doubles, two homers, six RBI and nine runs, and he reached base in 10 straight plate appearances during the three-game set. The 36-year-old is slashing .293/.363/.518 on the season with eight home runs and 27 RBI in 44 contests. Rotowire.com Today, 9:59 am
    • Pops third homer
Torrens went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a second run scored in Sunday's win over the Padres.

Advice: Facing the team he made his big-league debut with back in 2017, Torrens took Jeremiah Estrada deep in the eighth inning. The 28-year-old catcher has started his Mets tenure off with a bang, batting .318 (7-for-22) in his first eight games for the club with three homers, but he remains firmly in the backup role behind Francisco Alvarez. • Three hits against Padres
Nimmo went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI in Sunday's win over San Diego.

Advice: Batting second once again, Nimmo reeled off his third straight multi-hit performance. The 31-year-old has heated up in June, slashing .300/.352/.400 through 54 plate appearances, but his homer drought sits at 23 games. Nimmo's gone yard just seven times so far in 2024, a disappointing showing after he slugged a career-high 24 homers last season. Rotowire.com Today, 9:53 am
    • Ready for rehab assignment
Massey (back) will begin a rehab assignment Tuesday at Triple-A Omaha.

Advice: On the shelf with a low back ligament sprain, Massey received an injection May 31 and appears to have responded favorably. He was cleared to resume baseball activities early last week and has checked out fine after steadily increasing the intensity of his hitting and running over the last several days. The Royals haven't determined how long Massey's rehab assignment will last, but he may only need two or three games with Omaha to get his timing back at the plate before potentially making his return from the 10-day injured list as soon as this weekend.
