• Nabs first win
Lee (1-1) picked up the win Thursday over the Cubs, striking out one in a scoreless inning of relief.

Advice: AJ Smith-Shawver got the start but lasted only 4.1 innings, handing the ball off to Lee in the fifth inning to continue what proved to be a combined shutout for Atlanta. Lee has been impressive in a low-leverage role this season, posting a 1.21 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 20:7 K:BB through 22.1 innings, but he has just one win and two holds in 14 appearances. • Gets rare start Thursday
Williams got the start at third base Thursday and went 0-for-2 in a win over the Cubs.

Advice: Zack Short has seen the bulk of the playing time at the hot corner while Austin Riley (side) has been on the shelf, but Williams got his first start of the season at any position Thursday, although he didn't do much with the opportunity. The 27-year-old utility player has only two other plate appearances on the season, and he's still looking for his first hit of 2024. Rotowire.com Today, 7:23 am
  • Two hits in Thursday's win
Tromp went 2-for-4 with a run scored in Thursday's win over the Cubs.

Advice: The 29-year-old backstop has seen his playing time pick up lately due in part to a concussion scare for Travis d'Arnaud, and Tromp has responded by going 6-for-13 with three doubles and two runs scored while appearing in four of the last seven games. His time in the majors figures to be coming to a close, however -- Sean Murphy (oblique) has homered in back-to-back games to begin his rehab assignment with Triple-A Gwinnett and could come off the IL as soon as this weekend. • Sent to Triple-A
The Twins optioned Boushley to Triple-A St. Paul on Thursday.

Advice: The club will announce a corresponding move prior to Friday's game against the Rangers. Boushley has yielded two runs over two relief innings during his brief time in the majors this season. Rotowire.com Today, 7:19 am

  • Swipes two bags in win
Mullins went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases and two runs scored in Thursday's win over the White Sox.

Advice: Mullins grounded into a fielder's choice in his first at-bat before going on to steal second and third and coming home for Baltimore's first run of the contest. He would add a single and come around to score during a four-run fourth inning for the Orioles, giving him only his second multi-hit performance this month. Mullins is batting just .160 (8-for-50) in May, though he's swiped four bags over his last five games. Rotowire.com Today, 7:19 am
  • Begins rehab assignment
Martinez (hand) went 0-for-3 with a strikeout Thursday in his first rehab game with the Arizona Complex League Guardians.

Advice: Martinez began the season on the injured list with a right foot contusion but then suffered a fractured hamate bone six weeks ago while on a rehab assignment for the foot injury. The 22-year-old will eventually move up to a higher affiliate and is likely to be optioned to Triple-A Columbus once he's deemed ready rather than be added to the Guardians' roster. • Guardians send Angel Martinez on rehab assignment
Guardians sent SS Angel Martinez (hand) on a rehab assignment to the Arizona Complex League.

  • Mountcastle has four-hit game Thursday
Ryan Mountcastle went 4-for-5 with a double and two runs scored against the White Sox on Thursday.

Advice: Mountcastle scored on Jorge Mateo’s three-run home run in the fourth inning and on an Adley Rutschman home run in the sixth inning. The four hits marked a nice bounce back game for Mountcastle, who had been slumping. The Orioles have a deep group of hitters to choose from, but he should stay in the lineup as long as he continues to hit.

  • Varsho blasts ninth home run Thursday
Daulton Varsho went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run against the Tigers on Thursday.

Advice: Varsho came to the plate in a tie game in the seventh inning and hit a two-run home run off Tigers starter Jack Flaherty that put the Blue Jays ahead for good. Varsho is hitting just .213 this year, but he has five stolen bases to go with nine home runs and 27 RBI. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:30 pm
