• Mariners activate Ty France (heel) off injured list
Mariners activated INF Ty France off the 10-day injured list.

Advice: France missed just the minimum time on the injured list despite suffering a fractured heel. Interestingly, the Mariners aren’t sending Tyler Locklear — France’s replacement — to Tacoma as the corresponding transaction, but instead designated catcher Seby Zavala for assignment. The question now is what kind of role Locklear will have, as France is expected to resume the regular role as starting first baseman. Rotoworld Today, 9:33 am

  • Back from injured list
The Mariners activated France (heel) from the 10-day injured list Tuesday.

Advice: France missed the minimum 10 days with a right heel fracture and will skip a rehab assignment, going right back onto the Mariners' 26-man active roster. Tyler Locklear has been filling in at first base for France and remains on the roster, but France should go back to seeing the bulk of the starts at first base for Seattle. • Three hits in big win
Vientos went 3-for-5 with a double and two runs scored in Monday's win over the Rangers.

Advice: The 24-year-old snapped out of an offensive swoon that had seen him bat .188 (6-for-32) over the prior 10 games. Vientos has a hammerlock on the starting job at third base for the Mets -- since returning to the majors in mid-May, he's slashing .292/.360/.494 with four homers and 14 RBI in 26 contests. His defense has even gotten more reliable, as he's committed only one error during that stretch and has a minus-2.9 UZR/150 through 206.1 innings at the hot corner, a huge improvement on the minus-13.4 UZR/150 he managed in 153 innings last year. • On base four times in rout
Alonso went 3-for-5 with a walk, a run scored and two RBI in Monday's win over the Rangers.

Advice: The first baseman kept the line moving for the Mets in a 14-2 rout. Alonso still isn't supplying his usual power, but he's picked up the pace a bit in June, slashing .259/.348/.483 through 14 games with four doubles, three homers, nine runs and 12 RBI. Rotowire.com Today, 8:13 am

  • Report: A’s designating J.D. Davis for assignment
The A’s have decided to cut J.D. Davis, according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan.

Advice: This is the move to make room for Lawrence Butler. We’re hard-pressed to see how Davis is worse than Seth Brown or even Abraham Toro, who has been pretty terrible since the A’s decided to make him their leadoff man. Still, none of this really matters — none of these guys are going to be part of the next competitive A’s team — but Davis might help someone else down the stretch. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:31 pm

  • Designated for assignment
Davis was designated for assignment by the Athletics on Monday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Advice: Davis will now be available to be claimed off waivers and if he has no takers, Oakland is expected to release the 31-year-old. After being released by the Giants in March, Davis compiled a .236 average with four home runs, five RBI and 12 runs scored over 123 at-bats in 39 games with the Athletics this season. • Report: Anthony Rizzo out 4-6 weeks with fracture
Anthony Rizzo was diagnosed with a fractured right arm following Sunday’s collision at first base and is likely to miss 4-6 weeks, The Athletic reports.

Advice: One wonders if Rizzo will have a job to come back to at that point. The Yankees will likely go with DJ LeMahieu at first and Oswaldo Cabrera at third for now. They’ll be on the lookout for an upgrade at first prior to the trade deadline; fortunately, it shouldn’t be hard to find better options. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:25 pm
  • Dealing with arm fracture
Rizzo (arm) suffered a fracture to the radial neck of his right arm in Sunday's 9-3 loss to the Red Sox and could miss 4-to-6 weeks, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Rizzo suffered the injury in the seventh inning, when he collided with Red Sox pitcher Brennan Bernardino while running to first base. With the Yankees off Monday, Rizzo appears likely to be placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday. In Rizzo's absence -- which could extend until after the All-Star break -- DJ LeMahieu could serve as the primary replacement at first base, while Oswaldo Cabrera picks up some extra starts at the hot corner. • On base three times in loss
Davis went 2-for-3 with a walk and a run during a loss to the Twins in the first game of a doubleheader Sunday.

Advice: Davis drew an increasingly rare start at third base and delivered his first multi-hit effort since May 24. The veteran has been displaced from the starting nine more often than not since late May, logging a total of just 17 plate appearances across six games since the calendar flipped to June. Davis is capable of playing both corner infield spots in addition to serving as the designated hitter, but younger options Tyler Soderstrom, Abraham Toro and Brent Rooker are currently the preferred options at those respective positions.
