  • Todd Frazier (hand) starting against Mariners
Todd Frazier (hand) is in the Yankees' lineup Thursday against the Mariners.

Advice: Frazier took a pitch off his right hand Wednesday in his Yankees debut but is good to go for Thursday night's series opener. He's starting at third base and batting seventh against Seattle right-hander Felix Hernandez. Chase Headley is handling first base. Today, 4:35 pm

  • Logan Forsythe absent from Dodgers lineup
Logan Forsythe is not in the Dodgers' lineup Thursday against the Braves.

Advice: He's getting a maintenance day. Forsythe has struggled since the All-Star break, batting just .188 over 16 at-bats. Chase Utley will fill in at second and bat leadoff against Braves right-hander Mike Foltynewicz. Today, 3:35 pm

  • Nunez (hamstring) back in Giants' lineup
Eduardo Nunez (hamstring) is back in the Giants' lineup Thursday against the Padres.

Advice: Nunez wasn't in the lineup Wednesday but singled as a pinch-hitter later in the game. He's been dealing with hamstring issues for about a month and the Giants are obviously going to err on the side of caution with the trade deadline coming up. Nunez will start at third base and bat second Thursday against right-hander Jhoulys Chacin. Today, 3:20 pm

  • Flaherty (shoulder) a week away from rehab
Ryan Flaherty (shoulder) will begin a minor league rehab assignment on July 27.

Advice: Flaherty's recovery from shoulder tendinitis has had plenty of stops and starts but it looks like he'll be game-ready in about a week. The veteran utility man has hit just .233 with no homers over 30 at-bats this season. Today, 1:43 pm

  • Rutledge to begin rehab assignment Thursday
Josh Rutledge (concussion) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Pawtucket on Thursday.

Advice: He's batting fifth and DHing at home against Norfolk. Rutledge has been out a month with a concussion but appears to be on the mend. When healthy, he'll occupy a third base platoon with Brock Holt. Of course, that's assuming Boston doesn't add a third baseman at the trade deadline. Today, 1:33 pm

  • Jonathan Villar goes 2-for-5
Jonathan Villar, who didn't start Tuesday or Wednesday, went 2-for-5 as the Brewers' leadoff man Thursday.

Advice: Unfortunately, he was caught stealing on his steal attempt. Villar is hitting .250 with a .286 OBP in 72 at-bats since coming off the disabled list last month. It looked like he'd reclaim that starting job at second base when he played well in his first few games back, but he's just treading water now. Today, 1:11 pm
    L, 4-2 @Pit
  • Lamb's two homers, six RBI propel D'Backs
Jake Lamb hit a pair of three-run homers in the Diamondbacks' 12-2 rout of the Reds on Thursday.

Advice: Lamb was hitting fourth behind Paul Goldschmidt prior to the J.D. Martinez acquisition. He was moved up to the third spot ahead of Goldschmidt last night and remained there today, even though an injury had Martinez out of the lineup. Fourth is probably a little better for his fantasy value, but it shouldn't matter much. He's up to 22 homers and 76 RBI. Today, 12:55 pm
  • Eugenio Suarez homers twice in loss
Eugenio Suarez was responsible for both Reds runs by hitting two solo homers Thursday against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Suarez, who also walked in the contest, had as many homers today as in the previous month combined. He was one of the NL's better regulars through two months, but he's been well below average since. The Reds would be happy to see him get hot again. Today, 12:44 pm
  • Wilmer Flores homers in Mets' comeback
Wilmer Flores delivered a pinch-hit homer in the eighth inning Thursday as part of the Mets' 3-2 win over the Cardinals.

Advice: Flores' homer tied the game off Brett Cecil. The Mets went on to win it in the ninth when Jose Reyes was credited with a game-ending infield single after Trevor Rosenthal failed to cover first base. Flores was on the bench today for the sixth time in seven games since the second half started. The Mets prefer T.J. Rivera at third base at the moment. Today, 12:39 pm

  • Rangers DFA infielder Pete Kozma
Rangers designated INF Pete Kozma for assignment.

Advice: Kozma was batting .111/.200/.194 in 41 plate appearances with the Rangers. The 29-year-old infielder has just four extra-base hits in his last 188 major league games. Today, 12:32 pm

  • Eduardo Nunez (hamstring) pinch-hit Wed.
Eduardo Nunez (hamstring) hit a pinch-hit single Wednesday in the Giants' win over the Indians.

Advice: Nunez was held out of the starting lineup due to hamstring tightness, though that was mostly a precautionary move as the 30-year-old third baseman is one of the Giants' more attractive trade chips. There's known to be serious interest from the Red Sox. If he's healthy, Nunez is almost certain to be dealt before the July 31 deadline. Today, 5:41 am

  • Enrique Hernandez homers twice in win
Enrique Hernandez delivered a pair of solo homers Wednesday in the rout of the White Sox.

Advice: Hernandez has 10 homers in 194 at-bats this year after hitting seven in 202 at-bats in 2015 and seven in 216 at-bats last season. He's still batting just .216, and he doesn't deserve any sort of expanded role against righties. He makes for a nice bench player, though. Yesterday, 9:15 pm

  • Yoan Moncada goes 0-for-2 in debut
Yoan Moncada went 0-for-2 with a walk in his White Sox debut Wednesday against the Dodgers.

Advice: Moncada hit sixth tonight. Ideally, he'll be much closer to the top of the order by season's end, but sixth seems appropriate for now. Yesterday, 9:13 pm
  • Harrison goes 3-for-5 with a run scored Wed.
Josh Harrison went 3-for-5 and scored a run in a win over the Brewers on Wednesday.

Advice: He singled and scored the game's first run in the early going. The versatile veteran provides positional flexibility in addition to a well-rounded if not spectacular stat line. He is slashing .277/.355/.434 with 11 longballs, 41 runs scored, 31 RBI and 10 stolen bases. Yesterday, 8:45 pm

  • Todd Frazier (hand) expected in lineup Thurs.
Todd Frazier (hand) is expected to be in the Yankees' lineup for Thursday's series opener against the Mariners.

Advice: Frazier was hit by a pitch on the right hand near the end of Wednesday's loss to the Twins while making his Yankees debut as a pinch-hitter. He was able to stay in the game, though, and should be ready to roll against Seattle on Thursday. Yesterday, 2:24 pm

  • Sano slugs 23rd homer in defeat of Yankees
Miguel Sano clubbed his 23rd home run of the season in the Twins' defeat of the Yankees on Wednesday.

Advice: It was a three-run shot that capped off a six-run second inning for Minnesota. Sano also homered on Tuesday night and has lifted his season OPS to .907. Yesterday, 1:46 pm

  • Ryan Flaherty (shoulder) nearing rehab games
Ryan Flaherty (shoulder) could start into a minor league rehab assignment next week.

Advice: The hope as of several days ago was that Flaherty would be able to start a rehab assignment this week, but the Orioles held off on that. He should see minor league games soon, though. Flaherty is currently on the shelf with right shoulder tendinitis. Yesterday, 1:42 pm

  • Todd Frazier to man third base for Yankees
Yankees manager Joe Girardi said that Todd Frazier would be the everyday third baseman moving forward.

Advice: Frazier -- acquired from the White Sox on Tuesday -- has experience at both third base and first base, but he will be manning the hot corner in New York. Girardi said that Chase Headley would be going through a "crash course" at first base as the team looks to integrate its newest offensive toy. Yesterday, 1:35 pm

  • Moncada batting sixth in White Sox debut
White Sox recalled 2B Yoan Moncada from Triple-A Charlotte.

Advice: Moncada is starting at second base and batting sixth Wednesday in his White Sox debut against the Dodgers and right-hander Kenta Maeda. The 22-year-old Moncada, considered by many to be the No. 1 prospect in the sport, was slashing .282/.377/.447 with 12 home runs and 17 stolen bases in 80 games this season at the Triple-A level. He's immediately playable in most standard mixed fantasy leagues. Yesterday, 12:07 pm
  • Eduardo Nunez out with hamstring tightness
Eduardo Nunez is out of the Giants' starting lineup on Wednesday due to hamstring tightness.

Advice: Nunez is an important trade chip for the Giants, so they'll play this one safe. The 30-year-old third baseman has dealt with hamstring problems throughout this season, and throughout the latter part of his eight-year MLB career. USA Today's Bob Nightengale reported Wednesday morning that Nunez is drawing serious interest from the Red Sox. Yesterday, 11:46 am

  • Red Sox 'have their eye on' Eduardo Nunez
According to USA Today's Bob Nightengale, the Red Sox "have their eye on" Giants third baseman Eduardo Nunez.

Advice: Boston was known to be in talks for Todd Frazier before the White Sox shipped him to the rival Yankees late Tuesday night as part of a seven-player swap. Nunez is a decent pivot, though he doesn't hit for as much power as Frazier and has always carried durability issues. The 30-year-old impending free agent is batting .295/.319/.407 with four home runs and 17 stolen bases in 69 games this season for San Francisco. Yesterday, 9:13 am
    7:15 pm vs SD
  • Eduardo Nunez records game-winning hit
Eduardo Nunez posted a walk-off single in the 10th inning Tuesday, propelling the Giants to a 2-1 victory over the Indians.

Advice: Nunez collected two hits over five at-bats, starting a new streak after his eight-game run was ended in Monday's interleague series opener. While he doesn't provide a lot of pop, Nunez has posted 19 doubles with 26 RBI and 17 stolen bases across 275 at-bats to make himself a useful middle infielder option in plenty of fantasy formats. Yesterday, 1:24 am

  • Josh Donaldson shakes off hand injury
Josh Donaldson was able to finish Tuesday's 15-inning game after apparently hurting his hand in the 11th.

Advice: Donaldson seemed to be in considerable pain after jamming his wrist or thumb while making a tag on Xander Bogaerts at third, but he stayed in and grounded out in his next at-bat. If he doesn't play Wednesday, it'll probably be related to what happened tonight. Tuesday, 10:21 pm
  • Harrison hits two-run homer against Brewers
Josh Harrison hit a two-run home run in Tuesday's win over the Brewers.

Advice: Harrison went deep off Brewers starter Junior Guerra in the sixth inning to tie the game. It was his only hit in four at-bats. The All-Star has had a rough go of it in the handful of games since the break, going 2-for-17, but he's still hitting .272/.352/.429 with 11 homers and 10 steals on the year. Tuesday, 9:34 pm
    W, 4-2 vs Mil
  • White Sox calling up No. 1 prospect Moncada
Dan Hayes of reports that the White Sox are calling up top prospect Yoan Moncada.

Advice: Moncada will be in a White Sox uniform for Wednesday night's game against the Dodgers and he should get the start at third base. Chicago cleared that position Tuesday in a seven-player trade with the Yankees that included Todd Frazier. Moncada, the top-ranked minor league talent in baseball, was hitting .285/.381/.452 with 12 home runs and 17 stolen bases through 79 games this season at Triple-A Charlotte. He's capable of providing immediate value in standard mixed fantasy leagues. Tuesday, 9:15 pm
  • Yankees, White Sox work seven-player trade
Yankees acquired 3B/1B Todd Frazier, RHP David Robertson, and RHP Tommy Kahnle from the White Sox for OF Blake Rutherford, LHP Ian Clarkin, OF Tito Polo, and RHP Tyler Clippard.

Advice: Word of the seven-player blockbuster was first reported by Bruce Levine of WSCR and 670 The Score. Frazier has struggled to a .207/.328/.432 batting line in 81 games this season, but he's slugged 91 homers over the last two-and-a-half years and he can play both third base and first base for New York. The 31-year-old is scheduled to become a free agent this offseason. Tuesday, 9:06 pm
    7:10 pm @Sea
  • Yankees close on Frazier, Robertson, Kahnle
According to FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal, the Yankees are "close" to acquiring Todd Frazier, David Robertson, and Tommy Kahnle from the White Sox.

Advice: Bruce Levine of WSCR and 670 The Score was first to suggest the blockbuster trade might be happening,. It would be a huge boost to parts of the Yankees' roster that need boosting, and it also keeps the rival Red Sox from landing a number of their primary trade targets. Frazier has slugged 91 home runs over the last two-and-a-half seasons, though he is due to become a free agent this winter. Robertson, who began his career with the Yankees, is having his best year since 2013. He is owed around $18 million on a deal that runs through 2018. Kahnle, a hard-throwing right-handed reliever, boasts a 2.50 ERA and 60/7 K/BB ratio in 36 innings this season and is under club control through 2020. Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports says the two sides will try to get it done by the end of the night Tuesday. Tuesday, 6:08 pm

  • Report: NYY 'closest' to Frazier, Robertson
Bruce Levine of WSCR and 670 The Score reports that the Yankees are "the team closest to getting a deal done" for Todd Frazier and David Robertson.

Advice: Levine also adds that hard-throwing White Sox setup man Tommy Kahnle could be included in the swap. There was talk on early Tuesday evening that Frazier and Robertson might be packaged in a trade with the Red Sox, but it seems the rival Yankees are offering a more appealing package of young talent. It would be a major blockbuster if all three of these players are moved in the same deal. Tuesday, 5:48 pm

  • Frazier a healthy scratch from ChiSox lineup
Todd Frazier was a healthy scratch from the White Sox lineup on Tuesday night.

Advice: The move signals that a trade might be afoot. Yolmer Sanchez is now at DH and batting seventh versus Dodgers left-hander Clayton Kershaw, with Matt Davidson playing third base and hitting fifth. Frazier is known to be drawing trade interest from the Red Sox, and Boston is also said to like White Sox closer David Robertson. There should be more on all this soon. Tuesday, 4:33 pm

  • Suarez hits solo homer in loss
Eugenio Suarez connected for a solo homer in Monday’s loss to the Nationals.

Advice: His second-inning homer against Stephen Strasburg was the only offense of the day for Cincinnati. Suarez is up to 13 homers on the year, but the great majority of his production came early on. He’s hitting .199 with four homers over his last 48 games. Monday, 12:46 pm
  • Harrison back in Monday's lineup
Josh Harrison is back in Monday's lineup against the Brewers.

Advice: Harrison got a bit of a breather on Sunday. He'll hit leadoff Monday against Brewers lefty Brent Suter.Daily Slant: Harrison sets up as one of the premier value plays for tonight's slate against Brent Suter and the Brewers. Not only will Harrison find himself in the leadoff spot, but he actually owns some solid power numbers against southpaws to date. Coming into tonight, Harrison is sitting on a healthy .217 ISO vs. LHP on top of a 135 wRC+. Neither offense in this game sets up as a top stack, but the RH bats on the Pirates side are squarely in play, as are the lefties on the Milwaukee side. Monday, 12:35 pm

  • Jonathan Villar swipes bag, fans three times
Jonathan Villar went 1-for-4 with three strikeouts and a steal in Sunday's loss to the Phillies.

Advice: Not the best of days at the office for Villar, though he did come up with his 17th steal of the season in the contest. He does not figure to approach the operatic high that were his 62 steals last season, but remains an ever-constant threat for theft when he reaches base. That does happen on occasion, but the speedy second baseman is hitting just .221/.287/.351 in 276 at-bats this season. Sunday, 2:52 pm

  • Red Sox' search for 3B still 'wide open'
ESPN's Jerry Crasnick reports that the Red Sox' search for a third baseman remains "wide open."

Advice: There's been buzz about the Red Sox acquiring Todd Frazier from the White Sox, with USA Today's Bob Nightengale going as far as saying Boston is "moving closer" to a deal. However, Crasnick says the Red Sox are still monitoring multiple options along with Frazier, including the Athletics' Jed Lowrie. Sunday, 11:13 am

  • Red Sox 'moving closer' to Todd Frazier trade
USA Today's Bob Nightengale reports that the Red Sox are "moving closer" to acquiring Todd Frazier from the White Sox.

Advice: The report comes a day after FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal said that it "feels inevitable" that the Red Sox will trade for Frazier. Nightengale also indicates that Boston might try to acquire David Robertson along with Frazier in the deal, with Robertson then sliding into a setup role ahead of Craig Kimbrel. Frazier is an impending free agent and would fill a hole at third base that Boston has had all season. Sunday, 10:41 am
    7:10 pm @Sea
  • Rosenthal calls Frazier to BoSox 'inevitable'
According to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports, it "seems almost inevitable" that the Red Sox will acquire Todd Frazier at the trade deadline.

Advice: On paper, it's a near perfect fit. The Red Sox have hit for average but not power this year and are in desperate need of a third baseman after designating free agent bust Pablo Sandoval for assignment (this problem could have easily been avoided if they had simply held on to Travis Shaw). Frazier would fit both quotas and the rebuilding White Sox are likely looking at an all-out fire sale after dealing ace Jose Quintana earlier this week. Frazier has only hit .210 for the Pale Hose this year but it's come with 16 HR and 44 RBI. Saturday, 2:41 pm

  • Yoan Moncada won't be promoted Friday
Yoan Moncada will not be promoted to the White Sox on Friday.

Advice: The White Sox made a stir Thursday when Moncada was activated on the team's transaction log, though it was simply a clerical error. Moncada was away from the team while attending the Futures Game in Miami over the weekend but has since been activated by Triple-A Charlotte. Fantasy owners will have to wait a little bit longer for Moncada to make his White Sox debut. Thursday, 2:25 pm

In a late lineup change, Eduardo Nunez (hamstring) is starting at designated hitter, rather than third base, in Wednesday's minor league rehab game with High-A San Jose.

Advice: The Giants have not yet offered a reason for the position switch in the rehab game, but the obvious concern, here, would be that Nunez is not yet ready to play the field.
