• Jorge Polanco won’t return when eligible
Jorge Polanco (hamstring) will not return from the injured list when first eligible on Thursday.

Advice: The 30-year-old second baseman has been making progress in his recovery from a mild right hamstring strain, but he’s not close to a return just yet. He has been participating in infield drills and has been taking batting practice, but it sounds like he may ultimately need a game or two on a minor league rehab assignment before he’s ready to rejoin the M’s lineup. Advice: Paredes opened the scoring in the contest with a two-run single off of Braxton Garrett in the opening inning and then scored on an RBI double off the bat of Josh Lowe. He also plated Brandon Lowe with an RBI double in the third inning that extended the Rays’ lead to 5-2. • Wilmer Flores homers, plates five in blowout win
Wilmer Flores went 2-for-5 with a grand slam and five RBI on Wednesday in the Giants’ lopsided win over the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Flores played a pivotal role in San Francisco’s unexpected six-run explosion against Arizona starter Jordan Montgomery in the third inning of this one, walloping a grand slam to left field for his second big fly of the season. It was the first time he’s gone deep since May 4. He also picked up an additional RBI in the late stages of the contest with a ninth-inning sacrifice fly. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:13 pm
  • Drives in five in win
Flores went 2-for-4 with a walk, a home run and five RBI in Wednesday's 9-3 win over the Diamondbacks.

Advice: The Giants launched three homers on the day, but Flores' grand slam off Jordan Montgomery in the third inning proved to be the biggest blow. Flores snapped a 21-game homer drought with the blast, but that May 4 shot was his only other homer on the season. The 32-year-old's five RBI on Wednesday equaled his total from his prior 26 games combined. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:45 pm

Jeimer Candelario blasted a two-run homer and also stole a pair of bases on Wednesday in the Reds’ comeback victory over the Rockies.

Advice: Candelario clobbered a two-run homer off Rockies starter Dakota Hudson in the third inning before recording his 700th career hit in the fifth inning of this one as he put together one of his strongest performances of the year on Wednesday afternoon at Coors Field. His multi-steal performance was the first of his career and he had just 15 career stolen bases across 799 contests in the majors since 2016. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:28 pm

  • Beginning rehab assignment
The Rangers assigned Foscue (oblique) to the organization's affiliate in the Arizona Complex League for a rehab assignment Wednesday.

Advice: The 25-year-old landed on the injured list with an oblique strain shortly after making his MLB debut April 6, but he's now been cleared for game action. Foscue will be eligible to be reinstated from the 60-day injured list next week, but he may require more games in the minors before being cleared to rejoin the big club. • Nolan Arenado goes deep, Cardinals edge Astros
Nolan Arenado slugged a solo homer on Wednesday, lifting the Cardinals to a 4-2 victory over the Astros.

Advice: Arenado supplied a key insurance run for the Cardinals’ bullpen with a sixth-inning solo shot off Astros starter Ronel Blanco. It was his sixth round-tripper of the season and third time he’s gone deep in his last seven contests since May 28. The 33-year-old remains stuck in one of the most challenging extended power outages of his career, but he’s shown a bit of a spark lately, and might finally be turning things around. We’ll see.
