• Ronel Blanco defeats Rockies to improve to 3-0
Ronel Blanco improved to 3-0 on the season on Saturday, limiting the Rockies to two runs on five hits over 5 2/3 innings in Mexico City.

Advice: The right-hander piled up eight strikeouts on the evening while walking a pair of opposing hitters. He served up a one-out, two-run homer to Ryan McMahon in the opening inning, then went on cruise control from that point forward. Blanco generated a whopping 21 swings and misses on 102 pitches in the ballgame — nine on his cutter and eight on his changeup — while posting a strong CSW of 28 percent. He has been a tremendous addition to the Astros’ rotation this season, compiling a 1.65 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 30/14 K/BB ratio over 32 2/3 innings through his first five starts. He’ll look to keep the good times rolling when he does battle against the Mariners at home on Friday. Rotoworld 9 minutes ago

  • Cal Quantrill gives up six runs in loss to Astros
Cal Quantrill struggled in a losing effort against the Astros in Mexico City on Saturday night, giving up six runs on six hits over his five-plus frames.

Advice: The right-hander also issued a pair of free passes while striking out two batters on the night. Half of the damage done against him came via the long ball, with Yordan Alvarez crushing a two-run homer and Kyle Tucker adding a solo shot each in the third inning. Quantrill got six swings and misses on 95 pitches on the night, registering a miserable CSW of only 14 percent. Now 0-3 on the season, he’ll carry a disappointing 5.34 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and a 17/14 K/BB ratio (32 innings) into Friday’s matchup against the Pirates in Pittsburgh. Rotoworld 15 minutes ago

  • Jordan Wicks (forearm) scratched from start Sunday
Jordan Wicks was scratched from his scheduled start against the Red Sox on Sunday due to tightness in his left forearm.

Advice: Ugh, that’s never good news. The 24-year-old southpaw is set to undergo further evaluation and is probably looking at a trip to the injured list as well. Hayden Wesneski will start in his place against the Red Sox on Sunday and could wind up with a regular spot in the rotation for a while if all goes well. Rotoworld 24 minutes ago

  • Casey Mize pitches decently in no-decision
Casey Mize pitched decently in a no-decision against the Royals on Saturday, allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits over five innings of work.

Advice: The 26-year-old right-hander struck out a pair of batters on the night and didn’t issue a base on balls. The Royals scratched out two run in the opening inning on an RBI groundout off the bat of Vinnie Pasquantino and a run-scoring single by Salvador Perez. They tacked on an unearned run in the second inning — and should have had more after some sloppy defense in the fourth inning, but Mize was able to pitch around any further damage. He generated seven whiffs on 87 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 26 percent. He’ll carry a solid 3.08 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and an 18/6 K/BB ratio (26 1/3 innings) into Friday’s matchup against the Yankees in New York. Rotoworld Today, 6:12 pm

  • Labors through 4.1 innings
Cabrera (1-1) took the loss Saturday versus the Nationals, yielding six runs (five earned) on four hits and two walks over 4.1 innings. He struck out four.

Advice: Cabrera cruised through the first two frames, striking out three while allowing just one runner to reach base. It was a struggle after that, though, with the big blow coming in the fifth inning when Jesse Winker walloped a grand slam. Cabrera twirled a gem in his first start earlier this month, but his second outing wasn't great and this one was worse. Further inconsistency should be expected. Rotowire.com Today, 6:11 pm

  • Brady Singer fans six in tough-luck no-decision
Brady Singer was terrific in a tough-luck no-decision against the Tigers on Saturday night, racking up six strikeouts over five innings of one-run baseball.

Advice: The 27-year-old hurler scattered four hits and three walks on the night. The lone tally against him came on an RBI triple off the bat of Zach McKinstry in the second inning. Singer generated eight swings and misses on 93 pitches on the night — six on his slider — while registering a CSW of 34 percent. He now boasts a 2.62 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and a 34/13 K/BB ratio over 34 1/3 innings through his first six starts. He’ll do battle against the Rangers his next time out on Friday. • Permits one run over four frames
Parker took a no-decision in Saturday's win over the Marlins, permitting one run on six hits and two walks over four innings.

Advice: The Marlins made Parker work, particularly in the first inning when he gave up two singles, walked two and allowed a run on a wild pitch. He needed 82 pitches to cover his four frames, ultimately costing him what would have been an easy win. It was easily Parker's least impressive of his three starts so far in the majors, but he did still manage to give up just the one run. The lefty's next start is tentatively slated to come on the road versus the Rangers. Rotowire.com Today, 6:04 pm
  • Drawing start Sunday
Wesneski will start Sunday in Boston in place of the injured Jordan Wicks (forearm), Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Advice: Wesneski went 2.1 innings and threw 20 pitches in a relief appearance Thursday and his last start was back on April 12 at Triple-A Iowa, so Sunday's outing will be an abbreviated one. However, Wesneski would be a candidate to fill in for additional starts should Wicks need to miss some time. Rotowire.com Today, 5:43 pm
  • Won't start due to forearm injury
Wicks will not make Sunday's scheduled start in Boston due to left forearm tightness, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Advice: Wicks is coming off his best start of the season, but it would appear he picked up an arm injury either during that outing or in a between-starts throwing session. A stint on the injured list seems likely, but the Cubs could offer more on a potential timetable Sunday. Hayden Wesneski will start Sunday in Wicks' place. Rotowire.com Today, 5:37 pm
