• Mitch Garver slugs solo homer in loss to Twins
Mitch Garver went 2-for-3 with a solo homer and a walk against the Twins on Wednesday.

Advice: After drawing a walk in the second inning, Garver put the Mariners on the board in the fourth with a solo homer off Chris Paddack, extending his hitting streak to five games. He added a base hit in the sixth for his second hit of the day. The 33-year-old slugger is slashing .181/.290/.352 with four homers and 10 RBI across 124 plate appearances. • Tyler Soderstrom slugs two-run homer vs. Rangers
Tyler Soderstrom went 2-for-5 with a two-run homer on Wednesday against the Rangers.

Advice: Soderstrom got the call to join Oakland for Wednesday’s doubleheader against Texas and made the most of his start. After knocking a base hit in the second inning, he took Jack Leiter deep for a two-run homer in the fourth. Soderstrom had an injury scare in the eighth after taking a pitch off his knee, but was able to stay in the game. He offers some power upside with catcher eligibility if he gets an extended look in the majors. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:17 pm
  • Joe Mantiply closes out Reds on Wednesday night
Joe Mantiply picked up his first save of the season on Wednesday night, bailing out Kevin Ginkel to protect a one-run lead against the Reds.

Advice: Paul Sewald had already pitched on Tuesday night, and the Diamondbacks didn’t want to go to him on back-to-back days just yet, so it was Paul Sewald that came on to protect a two-run advantage in the ninth inning. After he allowed a run on a walk and a pair of singles though, manager Torey Lovullo turned to Mantiply to put out the fire with runners at first and third and the lead whittled down to run. He understood the assignment, getting Will Benson on strikes and Jonathan India on a fly ball to right to end it. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:38 pm
  • Montgomery goes seven strong in victory over Reds
Jordan Montgomery delivered a strong performance in Wednesday night’s victory over the Reds, allowing just two runs on seven hits over his seven frames.

Advice: The 31-year-old southpaw walked two and struck out two batters on the evening. The Reds pushed a run across in the second inning on a run-scoring single by Stuart Fairchild, then added another on an RBI double by Jeimer Candelario in the fourth. That was the extent of the damage. Montgomery got 10 swings and misses on 95 pitches on the night, registering a CSW of 29 percent. Now 2-2 on the season, he’ll look to further improve upon his 4.70 ERA and 1.30 WHIP when he takes on these same Reds at home on Monday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:38 pm
  • Elly De La Cruz swipes two more bags in loss
Elly De La Cruz went 0-for-4 with a pair of strikeouts in Wednesday’s loss to the Diamondbacks — and still managed to steal a pair of bases.

Advice: The 22-year-old phenom reached base on a fielder’s choice in the fifth inning, then proceeded to steal second and third base before being stranded there. He has been an invaluable asset in fantasy leagues so far this season, slashing .254/.356/.516 with eight homers, 19 RBI and a league-leading 21 stolen bases (in 24 attempts). • Graham Ashcraft surrenders three runs in loss
Graham Ashcraft wasn’t at his best in Wednesday’s loss to the Diamondbacks, surrendering three runs on six hits over his five-plus innings of work.

Advice: The 26-year-old right-hander also issued three free passes while punching out a pair on the evening. The Diamondbacks scratched out a pair of runs against him in the third inning on an RBI double by Pavin Smith and a bases-loaded walk by Christian Walker. Ashcraft then started the sixth inning and allowed a pair of singles before exiting — and one of those runs came around to score. He got just five whiffs on 86 pitches on the night, posting a miserable CSW of only 15 percent. He’ll carry a 3.86 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and a 32/12 K/BB ratio (39 2/3 innings) into a rematch against the Diamondbacks in Arizona on Monday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:37 pm
  • Brent Rooker swats three-run homer in A’s win
Brent Rooker went 3-for-4 with a three-run homer in the first game of Wednesday’s doubleheader against the Rangers.

Advice: Rooker finished off a three-hit effort with a towering 427-foot blast -- his ninth round-tripper of the season -- to straightaway center field in the seventh inning to cap off Oakland’s nine-run offensive explosion in the front-end of Wednesday’s twin bill. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:05 pm
  • Athletics recall Tyler Soderstrom
Athletics recalled C Tyler Soderstrom from Triple-A Las Vegas.

Advice: Soderstrom has a .882 OPS in his 119 plate appearance at the Triple-A level this season. The 22-year-old backstop spent time with the A’s last season where he slashed .160/.232/.240 with three home runs and seven RBI in his 45 games played. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:04 am
  • Joins major-league roster
The Athletics recalled Soderstrom from Triple-A Las Vegas on Wednesday.

Advice: Soderstrom has slashed .245/.353/.529 with seven home runs over 27 games at Las Vegas this season. The 22-year-old managed just a .472 OPS and 31.2 percent strikeout rate with the Athletics in 2023. Soderstrom will give Oakland a third catcher, and he could also see some action at first base and/or designated hitter. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:37 am
