• Kevin Newman has three-hit day vs. Angels
Kevin Newman picked up three hits and two RBI in a blowout win Thursday over the Angels.

Advice: This makes two-of-three appearances for Newman where he’s picked up three hits, and it’s helped his average bump up to .272 from the .253 mark he carried prior. The infielder is capable of slashing the baseball around, but he just doesn’t do enough in other categories — and it’s not like he’s close the league-leaders in average — to justify a fantasy spot. • Christian Walker homers twice in blowout victory
Christian Walker plated four runs while homering twice in a blowout victory over the Angels on Thursday.

Advice: Walker made it 3-0 Diamondbacks in the first inning with his roundtripper off Griffin Canning with a pair of runners on. His second homer of the game came in the third inning, and it traveled an estimated 464 feet. That’s fair. Walker remains one of the more underappreciated sluggers in baseball with 15 homers and a .480 slugging mark over the first 69 games of the campaign. Rotoworld 27 minutes ago
  • Joc Pederson hits grand slam in rout of Angels
Joc Pederson hit a grand slam and drove in five runs in an 11-1 blowout win over the Angels on Thursday.

Advice: Pederson turned a not-so-close game into a really not-so-close game with a grand slam to give the Diamondbacks a 10-1 lead. The 32-year-old has been a relative spot in the disappointing season for Arizona with an OPS of .887, eight homers and 28 RBI in his platoon role. Rotoworld 29 minutes ago

  • Andy Pages swats seventh homer in loss to Rangers
Andy Pages connected on a solo homer in a loss to the Rangers for the Dodgers on Thursday.

Advice: Pages took Michael Lorenzen deep for the Dodgers only run of the game. That gives Pages seven homers and 20 RBI, and the roundtripper along with a single sees the slash go up to .270/.320/.427. Rotoworld 32 minutes ago

  • Wyatt Langford drives in pair in win over Dodgers
Wyatt Langford drove in a pair of runs to help the Rangers to a 3-1 win over the Dodgers on Thursday.

Advice: Langford singled in a run in the first to give Texas a 2-0 lead, and he extended that lead to 3-0 with another run-scoring knock in the third. The rookie outfielder’s pair of hits and RBI improve his slash to .283/.300/.317 with 19 runs driven in. There have been just enough moments like this to suggest Langford isn’t just a long-term option. Rotoworld 32 minutes ago

  • Michael Lorenzen limits Dodgers to one over seven
Michael Lorenzen held the Dodgers to just a run while firing seven innings to get a win Thursday.

Advice: Lorenzen allowed just a solo homer to Andy Pages. The right-handed hurler wasn’t dominant with just two strikeouts, but he wasn’t challenged often while allowing four hits with one walk. Lorenzen has mostly been solid when available for the Rangers, and this outing lowers his ERA to 2.86. He gets the Mets on Tuesday, if Texas doesn’t make adjustments to the rotation. • Andrew Vaughn homers, plates game-winner in 10th
Andrew Vaughn homered and drove in the game-winning run Thursday against the Mariners.

Advice: Vaughn and Luis Robert Jr. went back-to-back in the third inning to give the White Sox a 2-0 lead. He also hit into a fielder’s choice in the 10th that score what ended up being the game-winning run. The first baseman has now homered eight times in 2024, and he’s started to swing the bat at a much better level in June with a slash of .361/.395/.667 over the month. Rotoworld Today, 9:23 pm

  • J-Rod hits game-tying homer in ninth vs. White Sox
Julio Rodríguez hit a game-tying homer in the ninth inning against the White Sox, but the Mariners fell to Chicago in extra-innings.

Advice: With the Mariners trailing 2-1, J-Rod obliterated a Michael Kopech fastball to right-center field that tied the game at 2-2. The outfielder now has six homers on the season; a disappointing total for a player who many (justifiably) thought would be among the league leaders in 2024. Anyone who saw his swing tonight knows that he’s capable of — and likely going to — doing much more going forward. Rotoworld Today, 9:23 pm

  • Hitting streak reaches 11
Reynolds went 1-for-5 with an RBI on Thursday against the Cardinals.

Advice: Reynolds hit a comebacker that glanced off Lance Lynn in the fifth inning to extend his hitting streak to 11 games. He's gone 15-for-46 in that span, while also tallying six RBI and five runs scored. Even with the strong stretch, Reynolds is hitting a mediocre .262 and also has an ISO of only .160 across 306 plate appearances this season -- the lowest mark of his career.
