    • X-rays negative
Initial X-rays on Murphy's right elbow came back negative after he was hit by a pitch during Tuesday's win over the Red Sox, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Advice: Murphy's elbow swelled up significantly immediately following the HBP, though he appears to have escaped the incident without suffering any structural damage. The catcher also said after Tuesday's game that he is confident he'll be able to avoid the injured list and get back to playing within a few days. Travis d'Arnaud would start behind the plate for any games that Murphy may have to miss. Rotowire.com Today, 7:18 pm

    • Josh Bell has two hits in loss to Rays
Josh Bell went 2-for-5 with a double, a triple, two runs scored, and an RBI in a loss to the Rays on Tuesday.

Advice: Bell is coming off a solid month of May, where he slashed .311//365/.466 with three home runs and 18 RBI in 27 games. He’s carried that over into June, going 4-for-12 in his first three games of the month. The 31-year-old is a likely trade candidate this summer and could benefit from a change of scenery, especially if he’s going to keep hitting as well as he has been. He could be a well-timed stash in fantasy leagues. Rotoworld Today, 7:07 pm

    • X-rays come back negative on Sean Murphy’s elbow
Sean Murphy is day-to-day with a right elbow contusion.

Advice: The positive news here is that X-rays came back negative after Murphy was hit by a pitch on the right elbow during the ninth inning of Tuesday’s game against the Red Sox, which led to his removal from the contest. It doesn’t sound like he’s going to wind up missing too much time, if any. Rotoworld Today, 6:58 pm

    • Keibert Ruiz goes 0-for-4 against Mets
Keibert Ruiz went 0-for-4 in the loss to the Mets on Tuesday.

Advice: We wonder how Riley Adams feels about being back in Triple-A while performing better than Ruiz both offensively and defensively these last two seasons. The 0-for tonight leaves Ruiz at .199/.239/.288 for 2024. He has to be better than this offensively, but the Nationals seem to be at a complete loss for ideas to improve his defense. • Exits after HBP
Murphy was removed from Tuesday's game against the Red Sox after getting hit in the elbow by a pitch, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Murphy took a 92-mph fastball off the inner part of his right elbow, which had already exhibited significant swelling by the time he reached first base. Atlanta will take him into the clubhouse for a closer look and should have more information on his status in the near future, but it's possible the 29-year-old backstop sits out until the swelling goes down. • Sean Murphy leaves game following hit by pitch
Sean Murphy left Tuesday’s game against the Red Sox after being hit by a pitch.

Advice: Murphy appeared to get hit in the elbow area by a ninth-inning offering from Red Sox reliever Chase Anderson and was immediately lifted for a pinch runner. There should be an update on his status shortly after this one goes final at Fenway Park. Rotoworld Today, 6:29 pm

    • McKenzie hit hard in no-decision against Royals
Triston McKenzie allowed five runs on nine hits in 5 1/3 innings in a no-decision against the Royals on Tuesday.

Advice: McKenzie allowed four extra-base hits on the day but three of them were home runs, including two by Bobby Witt Jr. The lanky right-hander was able to pitch well after word came out that he was pitching through a tear in his throwing elbow; however, he’s now allowed 12 earned runs over 15 1/3 innings in his last three starts. McKenzie’s off-speed pitches posted 10 whiffs on 19 swings, but his four-seam fastball didn’t miss bats and got hit hard. Given his injury and lack of velocity, McKenzie is walking a tightrope and doesn’t need to be held in all fantasy leagues. He now has a 4.16 ERA on the season heading into a tasty matchup against the Marlins on Sunday. Rotoworld Today, 6:13 pm
    • Gerrit Cole strikes out five on Tuesday at AA
Gerrit Cole (elbow) struck out five over 3 1/3 scoreless innings on Tuesday in a minor league rehab start for Double-A Somerset.

Advice: Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Tuesday that Cole will require “at least a few” rehab outings before making his season debut, but he looked extremely sharp in this one. The 33-year-old reigning AL Cy Young Award winner was reportedly sitting in the mid-to-upper 90’s with his fastball and threw 45 pitches (34 strikes). He’ll presumably make another rehab start this weekend and could return to New York’s starting rotation at some point in late June or early July. Rotoworld Today, 4:29 pm

    • Returning to action Tuesday
Estrada (thumb) is starting at second base and batting second Tuesday against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Estrada sat out the previous three games with a jammed thumb but is ready to take the field Tuesday in Arizona. The 28-year-old finished May on a modest four-game hit streak and went 7-for-17 with a double, an RBI and a run during that span. Rotowire.com Today, 3:42 pm
