      Advice: Miller's lack of effectiveness prevented him from building up much from the 51-pitch simulated game he logged Tuesday, as he threw only 55 pitches (38 strikes) in his first rehab start. It's unclear how many more rehab outings he will need, but Miller will certainly make at least one more start in the minors before rejoining the big-league rotation.       Advice: The right-hander was called upon with one out in the eighth inning and two runners on base. He allowed a single and a walk before Daulton Varsho took him deep to give the Blue Jays a two run lead. Despite the rocky appearance, Foley should remain the Tigers' closer for the time being. The 31-year-old's ERA is now up to 6.39, although he is 7-for-8 in save chances through 15.1 innings this season, and he's allowed at least one run in six of 14 outings this season.       Bobby Miller (shoulder) threw 55 pitches over three innings in his first minor league rehab start at Single-A Rancho Cucamonga on Sunday.

      Advice: All that really matters is that the right-hander made it through the start healthy and feeling good. The 25-year-old hurler did allow three runs on four hits and a pair of walks in the ballgame while punching out four. He generated 12 swings and misses on the afternoon.       Jason Foley took a blown save after giving up three runs in the eighth Sunday against the Blue Jays.

      Advice: Foley was called into a 9-6 game with two on and one out in the eighth. He quickly retired Vladimir Guerrero Jr., who had four hits on the day, but he went on to five up a two-run single to Bo Bichette, and after it looked like he might escape from there, he surrendered a three-run homer on an 0-2 pitch to Daulton Varsho. Foley’s stuff has declined since the beginning of the year, though this is just the second time it’s cost him. If he’s still the favorite for saves in Detroit for now, he’s definitely encouraged A.J.       Advice: Romano came into a tie game in the bottom of the ninth, so one run would have ended this. Romano, though, wanted to make it special. The Jays busted out offensively for one of the few times this year, only to lose 14-11. Romano is still 7-for-8 saving games and isn’t in any danger of losing his job, even if Yimi García has looked far better this season.
