    • Luis Arraez (shoulder) doesn’t play against Angels
Luis Arraez, day-to-day with a shoulder injury, was quite obviously not available as a pinch-hitter Monday in a 2-1 loss to the Angels.

Advice: Padres manager Mike Shildt indicated before the game that Arraez might be available off the bench tonight but then held him out while using David Peralta and Tyler Wade as pinch-hitters in the seventh and ninth innings, respectively. It could be a sign that the Padres are downplaying their concern with Arraez’s shoulder after he was injured Sunday. We’ll check back in on Tuesday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:19 pm

    • Could hit off bench
Arraez (shoulder) might be available to pinch hit Monday against the Angels, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Arraez departed Sunday's game against the Royals after a slide into second base, and his name wasn't listed in the starting lineup for Monday's matchup. "Luis came in today, feels better," said manager Mike Shildt. "We don't feel like it's anything structural, which is another thing that's encouraging. It's just a matter of he's sore. Got some stiffness, some soreness." The Padres appear to be exercising caution with Arraez and could use him in a pinch-hit scenario Monday evening if the situation arises. • Luis Arraez out of lineup with shoulder injury
Luis Arraez is absent from Monday’s lineup after leaving Sunday’s game with a shoulder injury.

Advice: Arraez said Sunday that he’d be ready for this one, but either that wasn’t the case or the Padres aren’t letting him try. Consider him day-to-day for now. The Padres have Donovan Solano at first base in his place. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:10 pm

    • Not starting Monday
Arraez is not in the starting lineup for Monday's series opener against the Angels after exiting Sunday's game in the fifth inning due to an apparent neck/shoulder injury.

Advice: The lefty-hitting Arraez wasn't able to finish out Sunday's series finale following an awkward slide into second base, and the injury appears to be bothering him enough to keep him out of Monday's matchup. The Padres have yet to provide an update on Arraez's status, so he'll be considered day-to-day until more information comes to light. Donovan Solano will start at first base Monday, while Jurickson Profar will serve as the designated hitter. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:53 pm

    • Throws bullpen session
Kremer (triceps) threw a light bullpen session Monday, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Advice: It's the first time Kremer has thrown a bullpen since being placed on the injured list May 21 due to a right triceps strain. The 28-year-old right-hander is eligible to return from the IL on June 5, though general manager Mike Elias noted Monday that Kremer will need a rehab assignment before returning to the majors. Before his injury, Kremer posted a 3-4 record over nine starts with a 4.32 ERA and 1.12 WHIP across 50 innings. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:38 pm

    • Dean Kremer (triceps) throws side session
Dean Kremer, who is on the IL with a right triceps strain, threw a light side session before Monday’s game.

Advice: Kremer has yet to resume facing hitters since going on the injured list last month, so he’s going to be a little while. He was 3-4 with a 4.32 ERA in nine starts before getting hurt. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:29 pm

    • Sitting against righty again
Mullins is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Blue Jays.

Advice: Mullins' grasp on a regular role in the Baltimore outfield could be loosening; he'll find himself on the bench against a right-handed starting pitcher (Kevin Gausman) for the second time in three games. Dating back to May 24, Mullins has produced just one hit in 20 at-bats, bringing his season-long slash line down to an abysmal .181/.225/.319 over 178 plate appearances. With Mullins taking a seat, Colton Cowser will cover center field while Austin Hays cracks the lineup in left field. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:38 am
    • Could get looks in outfield
Phillies manager Rob Thomson said Saturday that Sosa could be an option to see reps in the outfield once shortstop Trea Turner (hamstring) returns from the 10-day injured list, Alex Coffey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Advice: Sosa has logged a total of just 5.1 innings of outfield in the majors and has never started a game in the outfield in the professional ranks. He's been outstanding at shortstop since Turner got hurt, slashing .310/.380/.606 with three home runs in 22 games, which has the Phillies contemplating other ways of keeping him in the lineup long term. The Phillies could have an opening in left field if Brandon Marsh (hamstring) needs to miss time, but Sosa will still be needed at shortstop until Turner is back. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:58 am

    • Recovering from minor setback
Turner (hamstring) had a minor setback when he felt some leg soreness following a high-intensity workout May 25, MLB.com reports.

Advice: Turner resumed workouts this past weekend, doing some light jogging and change-of-direction running in addition to fielding grounders and hitting in the cage. The Phillies haven't offered a timetable for when he will run the bases, and Turner will need to start up a running program in addition to taking part in sliding drills before he's cleared for a rehab assignment. Turner will travel with the Phillies for their series in London against the Mets later this week to continue workouts, but he won't be activated from the 10-day injured list. After he had seemingly been trending toward an earlier-than-expected return, Turner now looks to be at least a couple weeks away from rejoining the Phillies lineup. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:45 am
