• Unlikely to return this week
Giants manager Bob Melvin said Sunday that it's likely a "stretch" for Wade (hamstring) to return from the 10-day injured list before Thursday's matchup with the Cardinals at Rickwood Field in Birmingham, Ala., MLB.com reports.

Advice: Wade was diagnosed with a Grade 2 left hamstring strain after suffering the injury while sliding into second base in a May 27 win over the Phillies. Though a Grade 2 strain often entails a recovery timeline of more than a month, Wade said last week that his goal was to make it back for MLB's June 20 Negro Leagues tribute game as the Giants' designated hitter. Wade took steps forward this past week by taking batting practice on the field and increasing the intensity of his running progression, but the 30-year-old looks like he'll still at least one week away from being a realistic option to return from the IL. Wilmer Flores should continue to serve as the Giants' primary first baseman while Wade remains out. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:18 am

  • On base three times in loss
Davis went 2-for-3 with a walk and a run during a loss to the Twins in the first game of a doubleheader Sunday.

Advice: Davis drew an increasingly rare start at third base and delivered his first multi-hit effort since May 24. The veteran has been displaced from the starting nine more often than not since late May, logging a total of just 17 plate appearances across six games since the calendar flipped to June. Davis is capable of playing both corner infield spots in addition to serving as the designated hitter, but younger options Tyler Soderstrom, Abraham Toro and Brent Rooker are currently the preferred options at those respective positions. • Cleared to play in games
Votto (ankle) was transferred to the Blue Jays' rookie-level Florida Complex League affiliate Monday to begin a rehab assignment, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Votto is finally ready to play in games following a long recovery from a severe right ankle sprain which he suffered back in mid-March. He remains on Triple-A Buffalo's 7-day injured list and will rejoin the Blue Jays' top affiliate once Toronto determines he's ready to do so. The 40-year-old could eventually become an option for the big club at first base and/or designated hitter, but he's on a minor-league contract and isn't guaranteed anything. • Joey Votto (ankle) starting rehab assignment
Joey Votto (ankle) will begin a minor league rehab assignment on Tuesday in the Rookie-level Florida Complex League.

Advice: Votto is back in minor league game action for the first time since suffering a right ankle injury back in spring training. The 40-year-old first baseman is hoping to make his Toronto debut at some point this year, but is a non-factor for fantasy purposes at this advanced stage of his career. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:54 am

  • Productive in Sunday's win
Triolo went 2-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored Sunday against the Rockies.

Advice: Triolo drew his fourth straight start, though two of those came with Oneil Cruz briefly sidelined. He went only 3-for-14 with seven strikeouts in that span, and he's likely to return to a reserve role so long as Cruz, Nick Gonzales and Ke'Bryan Hayes remain healthy. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:43 am

  • Nabs first steal
Smith went 1-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored in Sunday's 9-3 win over the Yankees.

Advice: The Red Sox stole a franchise-best nine bases in this contest, and even the not-so-speedy Smith got in on the fun. The first baseman hasn't done much in June, going 9-for-34 (.265) with two extra-base hits and seven walks over 12 contests. It's still an improvement on his .217/.323/.313 slash line through 133 plate appearances this season, and he's added just two home runs, 19 RBI, 12 runs scored and five doubles. Smith remains in a strong-side platoon role at first base, and that'll likely continue until Triston Casas (ribs) returns in July. Rotowire.com Sunday, 9:54 pm
  • Goes deep, walks twice
Schanuel went 1-for-2 with a solo homer, two walks and two runs scored in Sunday's loss to the Giants.

Advice: Schanuel belted a solo shot in the second inning for his seventh home run of the year and third in his last 10 games. However, he's gone just 8-for-34 (.235) during that span. Sunday was Schanuel's third straight game with multiple walks. He's now slashing .219/.301/.348 with 13 extra-base hits and 23 RBI through 63 games. Rotowire.com Sunday, 6:36 pm

  • Nolan Schanuel hits eighth homer versus Giants
Nolan Schanuel hit his eighth homer and walked twice against the Giants on Sunday.

Advice: The homer was projected at 410 feet, which was pretty stunning. As Baseball America’s JJ Cooper pointed out, this appears to be Schanuel’s first 400-foot flyball as a pro. Among major leaguers this year, Schanuel is in the first percentile in bat speed, the third percentile in hard-hit rate and the fifth percentile in average exit velocity. His previous long fly this year was 387 feet. It’s notable, though, that all four of his longest flies have come in June. It’s also notable that, in spite of that extreme lack of bat speed, he has more homers than Julio Rodríguez, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Manny Machado, Austin Riley, Nolan Arenado and many others. • Heading to bench Sunday
Sheets is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: With southpaw Jordan Montgomery on the hill for the Diamondbacks, the lefty-hitting Sheets will retreat to the bench. Korey Lee will get a day off of catching duties and will serve as Chicago's designated hitter in Sheets' stead. Though he remains the White Sox's preferred DH against right-handed pitching for now, Sheets could lose out on regular playing time during the upcoming week, when Eloy Jimenez (hamstring) will likely come off the injured list.
