• Marcus Semien powers Rangers to 15-8 rout of A’s
Marcus Semien went 4-for-5 with a leadoff homer and five RBI on Tuesday, powering the Rangers to a 15-8 blowout victory over the Athletics.

Advice: Semien set the tone with a leadoff blast -- his sixth round-tripper of the season -- off Athletics starter Ross Stripling before adding a pair of run-scoring hits as part of Texas’ 10-run explosion in the ensuing frame. The 33-year-old ironman has shown zero signs of slowing down as he approaches his mid-30’s, batting .266 (42-for-158) with 27 runs scored, six homers, 27 RBI and one stolen base through 37 contests. • Jonah Heim tallies four hits in blowout victory
Jonah Heim went 4-for-4 with a pair of RBI on Tuesday in the Rangers’ lopsided win over the Athletics.

Advice: Heim tallied four hits, including - before getting a reprieve from catching the remainder of a one-sided blowout against his former organization at Oakland Coliseum. The four-hit performance raises his batting average to a robust .301 mark in the early stages of the season. Rotoworld 5 minutes ago

  • José Ureña goes five innings for win against A’s
José Ureña was charged with two runs (one earned) over five innings on Tuesday in a win over the Athletics.

Advice: Ureña drew the spot starting assignment for Tuesday afternoon’s matinee out in Oakland and wound up getting 15 runs of support from the Rangers’ offense by the time he left the contest after five frames. He struck out two and also issued a pair of walks. He’ll presumably continue to operate in a swingman-type role for Texas until further notice. Rotoworld 6 minutes ago

  • Ross Stripling shelled for 11 runs in A’s loss
Ross Stripling was obliterated for 11 runs (five earned) over 1 2/3 innings on Tuesday in a loss to the Rangers.

Advice: Stripling was ostensibly forced to wear it for the Athletics on Tuesday afternoon as the Rangers torched him for 10 hits before he was mercifully lifted from the contest without escaping the second inning. The calamitous blow-up outing balloons his full-season ERA from 4.24 to a ghastly 5.14 in the process. The 34-year-old veteran righty will aim to turn things around on Sunday when he faces the Mariners up in Seattle. Rotoworld 6 minutes ago

  • Nearly perfect in second rehab start
Peterson (hip) struck out four and allowed one hit and no walks Friday for Single-A St. Lucie in the second start of his rehab assignment.

Advice: Peterson has now permitted just one baserunner while striking out nine over his first two rehab starts with St. Lucie and could be ready for a stiffer test with a higher-level affiliate. He built up to 41 pitches (23 strikes) on Friday and will likely need to bring his count up to around 75 before the Mets feel comfortable bringing him back from the 60-day injured list. After opening the season on the shelf while he continued his recovery from left hip surgery, Peterson won't be eligible for activation until late May. Rotowire.com 26 minutes ago

  • Guardians outright Tyler Beede to Triple-A
Guardians sent RHP Tyler Beede outright to Triple-A Columbus.

Advice: Beede went unclaimed on waivers after being designated for assignment last week by the Guardians after struggling to an inflated 8.36 ERA over 14 innings (13 appearances) in his first stint back in the majors since 2022. The 30-year-old righty will most likely wind up electing free agency. Rotoworld 28 minutes ago

  • Battling illness
Moreno isn't in the Diamondbacks' lineup Tuesday against the Reds due to an illness, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.

Advice: Manager Torey Lovullo said Moreno will be available off the bench Tuesday, but the D-backs will likely do everything they can to give him the day off to rest. Tucker Barnhart is starting behind the plate and batting eighth in Moreno's place. Rotowire.com 31 minutes ago
  • Nearing rehab assignment
Manager Aaron Boone said Tuesday that Dominguez (elbow) is "inside two weeks" to begin a rehab assignment, Chris Kirschner of The Athleticreports.

Advice: The 21-year-old's rehab from Tommy John surgery has apparently been progressing nicely, and he's close to being cleared for game action. Dominguez will require a lengthy rehab assignment before being reinstated, but he appears on track to return before the All-Star break. Rotowire.com 32 minutes ago

  • Resumes swinging
Manager Scott Servais said Tuesday that he has seen video of Canzone (shoulder) swinging at the Mariners' complex in Arizona, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

Advice: Servais seemed pleased with the progress Canzone has made since landing on the injured list April 15. However, he noted that Canzone will require an extended rehab assignment, so the 26-year-old outfielder is likely still a few weeks away from returning to the Mariners' lineup.
