• Dominant again in seventh save
Miller earned the save in Friday's 3-2 win over the Orioles, striking out two in a perfect inning.

Advice: Miller delivered another lights-out performance Friday, striking out a pair while stranding the free runner at second in the 10th inning to seal a one-run Oakland victory, earning a second save in as many days. After allowing a pair of runs in his first outing this year, Miller's now held opponents scoreless in his subsequent 11.1 innings while allowing just one hit and one walk in his last seven appearances. The 25-year-old right-hander is up to seven saves on the year as he lowered his ERA to 1.46 with a 0.89 WHIP and an outstanding 18.24 K/9. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:39 pm

  • Mason Miller perfect in 10th for save
Mason Miller pitched a perfect 10th with a one-run lead for a save Friday against the Orioles.

Advice: The automatic runner should score most of the time in these situations, resulting in an undeserved blown save, but not when it’s Miller on the mound. He got two strikeouts and a weak groundout in racking up his seventh save tonight. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:33 pm

  • Craig Kimbrel walks three in blowing save
Craig Kimbrel took his second blown save after walking three and giving up two hits in one-third of an inning versus the A’s on Friday.

Advice: Incredibly, he allowed just one run during all this. His lone out came on a play at home plate, and after he exited, Keegan Akin was able to strand the bases loaded and send the game to extras. Kimbrel somehow went his first nine outings without walking a batter, but he’s issued five free passes and hit a batter in his last three appearances. This is just his second blown save and his first to cost the Orioles a game, so he’ll surely keep closing for now. However, if the wildness continues. the Orioles could give him a break and turn to Yennier Cano in the ninth. Cano got four outs for his fifth hold tonight. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:33 pm
  • Charged with second blown save
Kimbrel blew the save in Friday's loss to the A's, allowing a run on two hits and three walks in one-third of an inning.

Advice: Kimbrel allowed all five batters he faced to reach base safely, with the lone out coming when JJ Bleday was thrown out at home trying to score on a wild pitch. While Kimbrel was lucky to escape with just one allowed, he was still charged with his second blown save of the year, the first since his first appearance of the season on April 1. Kimbrel hadn't allowed an earned run in 10 innings coming into Friday, striking out 15 in that span. Overall, the 35-year-old Kimbrel's 7-for-9 in save chances with a 1.59 ERA and 1.06 WHIP through 11.1 innings this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:13 pm
  • Ryan Helsley needs nine pitches for eighth save
Ryan Helsley struck out two in a perfect ninth for his eighth save Friday against the Mets.

Advice: Helsley threw just nine pitches tonight. His velocity was down some this spring and during the first week of the regular season, but he’s been right around 100 mph with his fastball these last couple of weeks. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:45 pm
  • Chris Flexen fires five scoreless in win over Rays
Chris Flexen was terrific in Friday night’s victory over the Rays, allowing just two hits over five innings of shutout baseball.

Advice: Flexen also issued three walks on the night while striking out a pair. Flexen got eight swings and misses on just 72 pitches in the contest, registering a CSW of 28 percent. The only real threat against him came as Yandy Diaz led off the game with a double, but he would wind up stranded right there. Now 1-3 on the season, Flexen will look to further improve upon his 5.11 ERA and 1.34 WHIP when he toes the slab against the Twins on Wednesday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:28 pm

  • Kutter Crawford sees ERA double in loss
Kutter Crawford yielded four runs — three earned — and 10 hits in six innings Friday in a loss to the Cubs.

Advice: Crawford might not have made it out of the second tonight if Bobby Dalbec hadn’t made a great play on a liner for two outs. Apart from that, Crawford was quite unlucky tonight, giving up 10 hits despite allowing only four hard-hit balls. His ERA doubled, going from 0.66 to 1.35. Next on the schedule for him is a home start versus the Giants. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:25 pm

  • Kyle Finnegan slams door on Marlins in ninth
Kyle Finnegan secured his eighth save of the season on Friday night, working a scoreless ninth inning to preserve a two-run lead against the Marlins.

Advice: The 32-year-old right-hander made things look awfully easy in this one, getting Josh Bell on a swinging third strike, Jesus Sanchez on a line out to shortstop and Tim Anderson on a ground ball to second — needing only six pitches (all strikes) to get the job done. The underlying metrics aren’t great, but it’s hard to argue with the results that Finnegan has put up so far. He now boasts a 2.38 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and a 10/5 K/BB ratio over 11 1/3 innings while converting eight of his first nine save chances. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:50 pm
  • Anthony Maldonado fires three scoreless as opener
Anthony Maldonado was terrific in his big league debut against the Nationals on Friday, allowing just three hits over three scoreless innings in a no-decision.

Advice: The 26-year-old right-hander struck out two batters on the night and didn’t issue a base on balls. Filling in for the injured Jesús Luzardo, Maldonado got seven swings and misses on just 36 pitches in the game — six of those on his slider — while posting a strong CSW of 33 percent. It’s likely that he’ll head back to Triple-A Jacksonville after this start, as the Marlins will want to add another fresh arm to the bullpen while charting a course of action for Luzardo’s rotation spot.
