• Summoned from Double-A
The Brewers recalled Blalock from Double-A Biloxi on Monday.

Advice: Blalock will skip over the Triple-A level and go straight to the big leagues after collecting a 2.27 ERA and 29:7 K:BB over 35.2 innings. The 23-year-old has been used as a starter in the minors, but if he makes his major-league debut during this stint, it would appear likely to come in relief. Rotowire.com Today, 12:27 pm
  • Mets activate Tylor Megill from IL
Mets activated RHP Tylor Megill (shoulder) from the IL.

Advice: Megill looked good in his last rehab outing, so the Mets have deemed him ready to face the Guardians on Monday night. He has made just one start this season, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits in four innings with four strikeouts and three walks. The Mets will use a six-man rotation for the time being since they want to keep both Megill and Adrian Houser in the rotation. Rotoworld Today, 12:03 pm
  • Rays place Zach Eflin on IL with back injury
Rays placed Zach Eflin (lower back inflammation) on the 15-day IL.

Advice: Eflin had a shaky start on Saturday, allowing four runs over six innings against the Blue Jays. Perhaps his back was an issue then. The Rays made his IL designation retroactive to Sunday, but he will still miss at least two starts as he recovers. The 30-year-old has a 4.12 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, and a 44/4 K/BB ratio across 59 innings but it’s unclear who will take his spot in the rotation, but perhaps the Rays will opt to bring Ryan Pepiot back from his leg injury without a rehab assignment. • Placed on IL with back injury
The Rays placed Eflin on the 15-day injured list Monday, retroactive to May 19, with lower-back inflammation, Tricia Whitaker of Bally Sports Sun reports.

Advice: Eflin last pitched Saturday in Toronto, allowing four runs over six innings. It's not clear whether he developed the injury during that outing or another time, but either way he will be sidelined for at least the next two weeks. Ryan Pepiot (leg) is expected back from the IL this week and can slide into Eflin's rotation spot. Rotowire.com Today, 11:35 am

  • Activated from IL ahead of start
The Mets activated Megill (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list Monday.

Advice: Megill is set to rejoin the Mets' rotation Monday in Cleveland after missing all of April and much of May with a right shoulder strain. He was excellent on his rehab assignment, allowing just one earned run with a 23:1 K:BB over 14 innings. Megill threw 74 pitches in his fourth and final rehab start, so he should be good for 90 or so Monday. Rotowire.com Today, 10:38 am
  • Role now being reconsidered
Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol conceded after Liberatore's start Sunday versus the Red Sox that the team is now considering moving the lefty back to the bullpen, Lynn Worthy of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Advice: Marmol had said previously that the club wanted to commit to Liberatore's role, which it did Friday in saying the southpaw would start Sunday and remain in the rotation indefinitely. However, following another unsuccessful, abbreviated start (three-plus innings, four runs), the Cards are now reconsidering the plan for Liberatore. If Liberatore does return to a relief role -- which would appear likely at this point -- it's not clear who St. Louis would slide into the rotation in his place. Rotowire.com Today, 6:29 am
  • Pummeled by San Diego
Elder (1-2) took the loss Sunday against the Padres, allowing seven runs (six earned) on nine hits and three walks while striking out three over three innings.

Advice: The Padres put up a quick three runs on Elder in the first inning, all with two outs, highlighted by a two-run blast by Jake Cronenworth. Elder held them scoreless for the next two frames but ran into more issues in the fourth, allowing four straight hits and three more runs to begin the inning before he got pulled. Sunday was the second time in his last three starts he's failed to reach four innings, both of which he's given up seven runs and walked at least three batters. For the year, Elder owns a troublesome 6.46 ERA, 1.94 WHIP and 19:11 K:BB in 23.2 innings. He currently lines up to face the Pirates his next time on the mound. Rotowire.com Today, 3:19 am

  • Bryce Elder knocked around in loss to Padres
Bryce Elder was knocked around in Sunday night’s loss to the Padres, giving up seven runs (six earned) on nine hits over his three-plus innings of work.

Advice: The 25-year-old right-hander also issued three walks on the night while punching out three. After getting the first two outs in the opening inning, the Padres struck for three runs with two outs, including a two-run blast by Jake Cronenworth. Elder seemed to settle in a bit after that, but allowed four straight hits to start the fourth inning before turning the ball over to the bullpen. He got just eight swings and misses on 93 pitches on the night — six on his slider — while posting a CSW of 23 percent. He’ll carry a troublesome 6.46 ERA and 1.94 WHIP into Friday’s start against the Pirates in Pittsburgh. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:04 pm

  • Continues to struggle
Liberatore (1-2) suffered the loss Sunday against the Red Sox, allowing four runs on six hits and one walk over three innings. He struck out three.

Advice: Liberatore struggled through three-plus innings Sunday, allowing a first inning solo homer to former teammate Tyler O'Neill. Liberatore started the fourth with the game still at 2-0 , but he was pulled after allowing a run-scoring double to Romy Gonzalez, who later scored to add a fourth run to Liberatore's line. The 24-year-old lefty has struggled over his last four appearances, including three starts, allowing 11 runs over 10.1 innings. With the return of Steven Matz looming, Liberatore's stay in the Cardinals' rotation appears to be coming to an end. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:54 pm
