    Manager Alex Cora said Friday that Yoshida will get a second opinion on his strained left thumb, Christopher Smith of The Springfield Republican reports.

    Advice: Cora previously said Thursday that Yoshida may need to undergo surgery on his thumb after straining it during Sunday's win over the Cubs, but the 30-year-old will wait to hear from another doctor before determining the best course of action. He should only need a couple of game’s worth of at-bats before he’s cleared to return to the Nationals’ lineup. Whether or not that will help, is another question.     Advice: Fraley missed the better part of three weeks while battling the illness that was making its way through the Reds’ clubhouse — then developed bronchitis after returning to the lineup for a couple of days. It’s strange to see him in the lineup against a left-hander, but fantasy managers have to be pleased to see his name in the lineup card at all these days.     Joey Wiemer was removed from Friday afternoon’s contest against the Cubs after suffering an apparent knee injury in the ninth inning.

    Advice: Wiemer was fielding a ball off the bat of Nico Hoerner in the eighth inning when it appeared as though his cleat got caught in the grass, causing his knee to buckle.   • Exits with apparent knee injury
    Wiemer was removed from Friday's game versus the Cubs with an apparent left knee injury, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

    Advice: Wiemer's knee buckled on him as he was retrieving Nico Hoerner's single down the left field line in the bottom of the eighth inning.
