• Limited session coming Saturday
Snell (thigh) will throw around 50 pitches Saturday during a bullpen session, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Advice: Manager Bob Melvin said if all goes well, the team will make a decision on whether Snell will have a rehab assignment or face hitters in live batting practice next. It was already anticipated that Snell would need more than the minimum 15 days on the injured list with his Grade 2 adductor strain, so a mid-May return is still the best-case scenario. • Josiah Gray (elbow) to throw bullpen on Saturday
Josiah Gray (elbow) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Saturday.

Advice: The 26-year-old hurler continues to make slow and methodical progress in his recovery from a flexor strain. If all goes well with Saturday’s session he could then be cleared to face live hitters. There’s still no clear timetable on when he may be able to rejoin the Nationals’ rotation. • Shifting to bullpen
The Mets are moving Houser to the bullpen for their upcoming road series, Abbey Mastracco of the New York Daily News reports.

Advice: Houser last started Thursday against the Cubs, allowing four runs on four hits and four walks while striking out two over five innings in a no decision. He's registering an 8.16 ERA, 1.85 WHIP and 16:20 K:BB over 28.2 innings this season and holds an 0-3 record over six starts. With Mets' top pitching prospect Christian Scott making his major-league debut Saturday against the Rays and Tylor Megill (shoulder) inching closer to a return, Houser will temporarily shift over to the bullpen. Following New York's road series against St. Louis, the Mets will determine whether Houser's move will be permanent going forward. Rotowire.com 18 minutes ago
  • Could join MLB rotation next week
Javier (neck) will throw four innings or roughly 60-to-65 pitches Saturday for Double-A Corpus Christi before potentially rejoining the big-league rotation, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Advice: Manager Joe Espada said the hope is that Javier can rejoin Houston's rotation after this first rehab start, which would line him up to return either Thursday in New York or Friday in Detroit. He has been out since April 14 with neck discomfort. Rotowire.com 22 minutes ago

  • Joe Ross holds Cubs to one run in six innings
Joe Ross wasn’t involved in the decision after limiting the Cubs to one run over six innings in the Brewers’ 3-1 victory Friday.

Advice: Ross allowed six hits, walked none and struck out four. Both pitchers today benefitted from a typically friendly umpire and a breeze blowing in from center at Wrigley, but Christopher Morel was able to overcome the wind and homer in the sixth, accounting for the only run allowed by either starter. The Brewers rebounded in the eighth, with four singles off Adbert Alzolay producing all three of their runs. Ross remained 1-3 while lowering his ERA to 4.65. He’ll likely face the Royals next. • Heyden Wesneski turns in 6 1/3 scoreless innings
Hayden Wesneski shut out the Brewers for 6 1/3 innings and struck out eight in a no-decision Friday.

Advice: He allowed three hits and walked two. Wesneski gave up five balls hit at least 100 mph today, yet they all turned into outs. He has a 0.54 ERA after two starts and two relief appearances, but with Justin Steele returning and Kyle Hendricks probably right behind him, it’s unclear if he’ll get another start. • Resumes throwing program
Cobb (hip) has been cleared to begin a throwing program, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Advice: Cobb had to halt his throwing program last week after experiencing soreness in his pitching shoulder, but tests came back clean and he'll now try to ramp things back up following a brief shutdown period. The right-hander will be eligible for activation from the 60-day injured list in late May, but it's too soon to know whether he might have a shot to be ready at that time. • Put on injured list
Eovaldi was placed on the 15-day injured list on Friday with a strained right groin.

Advice: Eovaldi underwent an MRI on Friday which confirmed a right groin strain. He'll be placed on the 15-day IL -- joining Max Scherzer (back) -- while Yerry Rodriguez will join the big league roster in Eovaldi's place. Eovaldi's next start was scheduled for Tuesday, an opening that could be filled by Jack Leiter, who's currently in Triple-A Rotowire.com 41 minutes ago

  • Throwing off mound Saturday
Gray (elbow) will throw a bullpen session Saturday, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.

Advice: It will be the first time Gray has thrown off a mound since he was diagnosed with a flexor strain nearly a month ago. The right-hander will eventually progress to facing hitters and going out on a rehab assignment, but it could be a couple weeks still before he's ready to return. Rotowire.com Today, 1:27 pm
