    • Paul Skenes twirls six shutout frames at Triple-A
Pirates RHP prospect Paul Skenes struck out seven over six shutout innings on Tuesday for Triple-A Indianapolis.

Advice: Skenes touched triple digits 13 times, averaging 99.8 mph on his four-seam fastball, and needed just 75 pitches (53 strikes) to complete six frames for the first time in his professional career. He generated 11 swinging strikes and finished with a 31 percent CSW, allowing only five baserunners over six dominant innings. We’re not sure what else Pittsburgh’s front office needs to see at this juncture. The 21-year-old top pitching prospect boasts a microscopic 0.39 ERA and 41/6 K/BB ratio across 23 innings (six starts). It’s time. Rotoworld 52 minutes ago

    • Placed on injured list
The Blue Jays placed Rodriguez on the 15-day injured list Tuesday with thoracic spine inflammation.

Advice: Rodriguez began experiencing soreness in his back following his start against the Royals on Monday. He was initially labeled as day-to-day Tuesday, but further evaluation resulted in a stint on the injured list being the recommended course of action. Zach Pop will come up from the minors to fill the void in Toronto's pitching staff, though it is unclear who will take Rodriguez's spot in the starting rotation. Rotowire.com Today, 2:37 pm
    • Blue Jays put Yariel Rodríguez (back) on 15-day IL
Blue Jays placed RHP Yariel Rodríguez on the 15-day injured list with thoracic spine inflammation.

Advice: Rodríguez is going to wind up missing at least a couple turns in Toronto’s starting rotation, which presumably opens the door for either Alek Manoah or Zach Pop to get a look with the Blue Jays. Unfortunately, top prospect Ricky Tiedemann isn’t an option due to an elbow injury. Regardless of how it plays out, it’s not a situation fantasy managers want any part of. There should be some clarity on Rodríguez’s status and potential return timeline at some point in the coming days. Rotoworld Today, 2:21 pm
    • Yariel Rodríguez dealing with back soreness
Yariel Rodríguez is dealing with back soreness.

Advice: Not great. Rodríguez appears questionable to make his next start on Sunday against the Nationals after allowing two runs over 3 2/3 innings on Monday in an abbreviated outing against the Royals. The 27-year-old righty could wind up either heading to the injured list or merely having his next turn skipped this weekend. It would presumably be Alek Manoah, who is pitching on Tuesday night at Triple-A Buffalo, coming up to make a spot start if he’s unable to go. There should be some clarity on his status in the coming days. Rotoworld Today, 1:35 pm
    • Rehab start delayed
Scherzer's (back) rehab start with Double-A Frisco on Tuesday will be pushed back to thumb soreness, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The thumb issue apparently surfaced following Scherzer's start with Triple-A Round Rock on April 24, so he'll have his next outing pushed back. Rangers GM Chris Young hopes the veteran right-hander will be ready to pitch by the end of the week, so it doesn't appear to be a serious issue. Rotowire.com Today, 1:34 pm

    • Dealing with back soreness
Rodriguez is experiencing back soreness after Monday's start against the Royals and is considered day-to-day, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Advice: Rodriguez's back issues flared up again following Monday's 3.2-inning start, an issue that bothered him throughout spring training. With his next scheduled start coming Sunday at Washington, Rodriguez will have some time to heal up. However, with Alek Manoah (shoulder) nearing a return, making what's likely to be his last rehab start Tuesday, the Blue Jays could push Rodriguez back to the bullpen and give Manoah the ball Sunday. • Max Scherzer dealing with thumb soreness
Max Scherzer (back) will have his next minor league rehab start pushed back to later this week due to thumb soreness.

Advice: Rangers general manager Chris Young told reporters Tuesday that Scherzer is dealing with some lingering thumb soreness in the wake of last Wednesday’s rehab outing for Triple-A Round Rock. However, there’s optimism he’ll be ready to take the ball later this week. The positive news here is the 39-year-old veteran isn’t experiencing any issues with his back following offseason surgery. Barring any additional setbacks, Scherzer should make his season debut at some point in early May. Rotoworld Today, 1:15 pm

    • Out against left-hander
Busch is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game versus the Mets.

Advice: Southpaw Sean Manaea is on the hill for the Mets, so the left-handed hitting Busch will take a seat. Patrick Wisdom will occupy first base for the Cubs on Tuesday. Rotowire.com Today, 1:13 pm

    • Not facing lefty
Carter is out of Tuesday's lineup against the Nationals.

Advice: Carter has now sat out each of the Rangers' last three games against left-handed pitching and seems to be falling into a platoon. Wyatt Langford will draw the start in left while Davis Wendzel will handle DH duties Tuesday. Rotowire.com Today, 1:01 pm
