Massey (back) took swings and played catch Monday, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Massey received multiple injections after being examined by a back specialist in late May and is finally ready to ramp things back up. There's no guarantee his recurring back issues won't flare up again, but for now Massey looks to be trending in the right direction. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:08 pm

  • Michael Massey (back) takes swings, plays catch
Michael Massey, out since May 24 with a sprained lower back ligament, took swings and played catch prior to Monday’s game.

Advice: The Royals have started giving Nick Loftin a chance over Adam Frazier at second base, and it will be interesting to see if he has a chance to stick after Massey returns. One imagines that’s still at least a few days away from happening. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:07 pm

  • Out of starting nine again
Norby is out of the lineup for Monday's contest against the Rays.

Advice: Norby has now started just four of eight games since his promotion from Triple-A Norfolk, including only two of the previous six contests. With Jorge Mateo's (concussion) return from the 7-day injured list seemingly imminent, Norby could be headed back to Norfolk soon. Jordan Westburg will start at second base Monday while Ramon Urias occupies the hot corner. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:48 pm

  • Connor Norby not in the starting lineup on Monday
Connor Norby is not in the Orioles’ lineup on Monday against the Rays.

Advice: It’s the second straight game on the bench for Norby, with Ramon Urías starting at third base again. Considering Jorge Mateo (concussion) has started taking groundballs, it’s safe to wonder how much more time Norby has at the big league level. He’s gone just 3-for-14 in four games with one home run and will likely need to produce in his next few opportunities if he wants to avoid being sent back to Triple-A. • Not in Monday's lineup
Walls is out of the lineup for Monday's contest against the Orioles, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Advice: Walls started at shortstop in each of the Rays' three games over the weekend following his activation from the 60-day injured list, but he will begin Monday's contest on the bench. Jose Caballero -- who had been the everyday shortstop prior to Walls' return -- will occupy the position Monday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:53 am

  • Geraldo Perdomo will be back with D’backs on TUE
Geraldo Perdomo (knee) will be activated from his rehab assignment on Tuesday and rejoin the Diamondbacks.

Advice: That means Perdomo will be back in time for the series against the Angels. The 24-year-old figures to move back into a starting role, which could mean the end of Kevin Newman’s run as the team’s shortstop. The corresponding move has not yet been announced, but it reportedly will not involve Eugenio Suarez, which means Blaze Alexander may be in jeopardy of losing his spot on the active roster. • Otto López back from Paternity List
Marlins reinstated INF Otto López from the Paternity List.

Advice: López missed the weekend series but will be back to his normal role as the starting second baseman. The 25-year-old has been a nice surprise for the Marlins, hitting .295 with three home runs, 18 RBI, and four steals in 103 MLB plate appearances. That makes him worthy of a roster spot in deeper fantasy formats. Tristan Gray was sent to the minors in a corresponding move. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:35 am

  • Xavier Edwards sent back to Triple-A
Marlins optioned INF Xavier Edwards to Triple-A Jacksonville.

Advice: With Tim Anderson coming off the bereavement list, the Marlins will send Edwards back to Triple-A where he has a .365/.411/.481 slash line in 13 games with three steals. He likely deserves to get a chance over the veteran, but it’s unclear when the Marlins will give him that shot. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:32 am
  • Activation expected Tuesday
The Diamondbacks are expected to activate Perdomo (knee) from the 10-day injured list Tuesday, John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports 98.7 FM reports.

Advice: Perdomo has been sidelined since early April following surgery on his right meniscus, but he's ready to rejoin the big club after seven rehab games, the last four of which came at Triple-A Reno. Gambadoro relays that the Diamondbacks aren't prepared to remove the struggling Eugenio Suarez from the roster to make room for Perdomo. Kevin Newman or Blaze Alexander could be at risk of losing their spots on the active roster, though Newman would have to be exposed to waivers if he's sent out of Arizona in a corresponding transaction.
