• Nabs fifth steal
Vargas went 2-for-4 with a run scored, an RBI and a stolen base in Sunday's win over the Guardians.

Advice: Getting another start at shortstop in place of CJ Abrams (shoulder) and batting ninth, Vargas swiped his fifth bag of the season in a productive afternoon. Abrams could be back in the lineup as soon as Monday against the Mets, bumping Vargas back to the bench, but the veteran utility player has been effective when called upon this season, slashing .288/.368/.385 through 120 plate appearances. • Snaps out of slump
Tellez went 3-for-4 with a two-RBI double and two RBI singles during Sunday's 5-4 loss to the Blue Jays.

Advice: Tellez hadn't logged an RBI since May 5 and had driven in three batters since April 4. He bested that total just on Sunday, plating all four of the Pirates' runs and reaching safely in four of his five plate appearances. Prior to Sunday's contest, Tellez had generated four hits in 40 at-bats with one walk. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:11 pm
  • Homers in consecutive games
Schmitt went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 7-5 loss to the Yankees.

Advice: With Marco Luciano (hamstring) landing on the injured list Friday, Schmitt has a chance to make shortstop his own in June. This was Schmitt's second game in a row in the lineup -- he started versus right-hander Cody Poteet on Saturday and stayed in the starting nine versus southpaw Nestor Cortes on Sunday. Through eight games this season, Schmitt has two homers, five RBI and two runs scored over 30 plate appearances. Brett Wisely has also been an option at shortstop lately, and both Schmitt and Wisely offer utility upside if the Giants opt to get creative with their lineup decisions. • Shut down at Triple-A
Triple-A Charlotte placed Shewmake on its 7-day injured list Sunday due to an unspecified injury.

Advice: After receiving limited playing time with the White Sox, Shewmake was optioned to Charlotte on May 17 and had settled into an everyday role with the Triple-A club. However, he went just 4-for-33 (.121 average) at the dish over nine games with Charlotte before suffering an apparent injury Saturday and landing on the IL a day later. • Luke Raley homers again as Mariners defeat Angels
Luke Raley homered for the second consecutive day on Sunday, powering the Mariners to a 5-1 victory over the Angels in Seattle.

Advice: Raley opened the scoring in this one with his 354-foot (110.8 mph EV) solo shot off of Griffin Canning in the fourth inning. The 29-year-old outfielder was also plunked twice in the ballgame — once with the bases loaded to drive in a run in the eighth inning. He then came around to score on Mitch Garver’s three-run double. On the season, he’s hitting a respectable .265/.315/.441 with six homers and 15 RBI. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:47 pm

Advice: Raley opened the scoring with a solo shot in the fourth inning and added his second RBI in the eighth when he was plunked with the bases loaded. Prior to a one-game absence with a lat issue, he went 1-for-19, but he's gone 3-for-9 with two homers, a double and three RBI over his last three contests. • Scratched from lineup
Clemens was scratched from Sunday's lineup against the Cardinals due to back spasms, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Clemens was set to start at second base and bat seventh against St. Louis, but he'll now take a seat due to his ailing back. Whit Merrifield will replace him in the lineup. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:51 pm

  • Kody Clemens (back) scratched from lineup Sunday
Kody Clemens was scratched from the Phillies’ starting lineup for Sunday night’s battle against the Cardinals due to back spasms.

Advice: Whit Merrifield will replace Clemens at second base against right-hander Lance Lynn and the Cardinals. Clemens should be considered day-to-day and is likely to return to the Phillies’ starting lineup early next week. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:49 pm

  • Homers, doubles in game-winner
Miranda went 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and a run scored Sunday against the Astros.

Advice: Miranda collected his 10th multi-hit game of the season, homering in the sixth to knot the game at three, then adding a go-ahead RBI double in the eighth that served as the game-winner for the Twins. After struggling to a .211 average in 40 games last season, Miranda has fared much better this season, posting a slash line of .280/.311/.469 with six homers, nine doubles, 20 RBI and 19 runs through 151 plate appearances.
