• Raps out two hits in loss
Sanchez went 2-for-3 with a pair of singles in Wednesday's 1-0 loss to the Marlins.

Advice: Sanchez has seen a surge in playing time of late, though he's been aided by the Brewers facing three consecutive left-handed starting pitchers. At the very least, Sanchez seems to have carved out a short-side platoon role, with he and top backstop William Contreras starting at either catcher or designated hitter when the Brewers face a southpaw. After Wednesday's two-hit effort, Sanchez is now holding down a .764 OPS over 99 plate appearances on the season, making him one of the more productive No. 2 catchers in baseball. • Austin Wells on the bench on Thursday
Austin Wells will take a seat on Thursday with Jose Trevino starting against the Mariners.

Advice: Wells had started the last two games, so he was likely always going to sit in the day game following a night game. However, he is also hitting just .200 in May with three extra-base hits in 10 games. He’s not striking out (13 percent strikeout rate), but he’s also not making the same quality of contact as he was to start the year. Trevino has been much better offensively, slashing .283/.330/.446 with five home runs and 17 RBI in 100 plate appearances. Maybe the Yankees will turn to the veteran more often in the coming weeks. • Held out again
Grandal (groin) remains out of the lineup for Thursday's contest versus the Giants, Andrew Destin of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Advice: Grandal will miss a second straight start after exiting Tuesday's 7-6 win with left groin soreness. Joey Bart will handle the catching duties in place of Grandal, who is considered day-to-day. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:24 am

  • Getting rest Thursday
Bailey is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Pirates.

Advice: Though he returned from the 7-day injured list Tuesday after recovering from a concussion, Bailey didn't rejoin the lineup until the Giants' 9-5 win Wednesday, when he started behind the dish and went 3-for-5 with a double, two runs and an RBI. Bailey should see the bulk of the starts behind the dish moving forward, but he'll cede catching duties to Curt Casali as the Giants and Pirates wrap up their series with a day game after a night game. • Three hits in Wednesday's win
Bailey went 3-for-5 with a double, one RBI and two runs scored in Wednesday's 9-5 extra-inning win over the Pirates.

Advice: This was Bailey's first start since he was activated from the concussion injured list Tuesday. He appeared off the bench in that contest, going 0-for-1. Bailey went on the IL twice due to the concussion, but he looks to have the all-clear this time and should resume a starting role behind the plate over Curt Casali. Bailey is slashing .295/.350/.466 with three home runs, 12 RBI, 12 runs scored, six doubles and one stolen base across 101 plate appearances this season. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 9:14 pm
  • Shipped to Baltimore
The Orioles acquired Hunt from the Mariners on Wednesday in exchange for right-hander Mike Baumann and catcher Michael Perez.

Advice: Hunt has spent all season in Triple-A, slashing .293/.372/.533 with four homers and 20 RBI across 86 plate appearances. The 25-year-old backstop has yet to make his MLB debut, though it's possible he gets the chance to do so in Baltimore if the O's decide to replace James McCann with Hunt as Adley Rutschman's backup. • On bench versus southpaw
Soderstrom is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game versus Colorado.

Advice: Soderstrom started the previous three games but will sit Wednesday as lefty Austin Gomber pitches for the Rockies. J.D. Davis will handle first base and bat fifth. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 3:00 pm
  • Resting Wednesday
Lee is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays.

Advice: Lee will hit the bench after starting each of the previous four games, with three coming behind the plate. Martin Maldonado will fill in for Lee at catcher Wednesday. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 2:28 pm
