• Notches first win of season
Wood (1-2) earned the win over the Yankees on Thursday, allowing one run on eight hits and two walks while striking out five batters over 5.2 innings.

Advice: Wood allowed plenty of traffic on the basepaths, but the only run that crossed the plate against him came on a second-inning Jose Trevino solo homer. This was by far the left-hander's best outing in an A's uniform -- he came into the contest holding a 7.89 ERA and 2.03 WHIP while failing to go five innings in three of his five starts. One strong start isn't going to wipe away Wood's poor overall body of work on the campaign, but it at least helped him get into the win column for the first time and provided hope that he could yet turn things around. • Can't escape third inning Thursday
Vasquez allowed four runs on six hits and two walks while striking out two batters over 2.2 innings in a no-decision against Colorado on Thursday.

Advice: Vasquez got another start with Yu Darvish (neck) on the injured list, though he didn't fare well in the Colorado altitude. The Padres staked him to an early 4-1 lead, but the right-hander allowed the Rockies to pull even in the third and was lifted after retiring only two batters in the frame. Vasquez was much better in his first start of the campaign against the Blue Jays on April 20, and Coors Field has a history of demolishing pitcher stat lines, so the right-hander may still get another turn in the rotation if Darvish isn't ready to return when first eligible. • Goes six innings in loss
Heaney (0-3) took the loss Thursday, allowing four runs on five hits and no walks over six innings against the Mariners. He struck out seven.

Advice: Although Heaney only gave up five hits, three went for extra bases, including two-run home runs to Luis Urias and Ty France. Heaney's now surrendered multiple long balls in back-to-back starts. While Thursday's start marked Heaney's first time pitching into the sixth, he's allowed multiple runs in all but one outing this year. He's tentatively scheduled for a matchup with the Nationals on Wednesday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:39 pm

  • Roughed up but avoids loss
Hudson pitched 3.1 innings, allowing six runs on six hits and four walks while striking out four batters in a no-decision against San Diego on Thursday.

Advice: Three of the six hits Hudson gave up went for extra-bases, including a two-run homer by Ha-Seong Kim in the third inning. The right-handed hurler didn't help his cause in issuing four free passes, and he's had control issues of late with 12 walks over his past 13.1 frames. Despite the messy stat line, Hudson managed to avoid taking the loss in a game he started for the first time this season as a result of a late Rockies rally. However, Hudson's season ERA now sits at 6.57, making him an undesirable arm in almost all fantasy formats. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:27 pm
  • Earns first win
Gaddis (1-0) earned the win, allowing a hit in two-thirds of an inning without being charged with a run Thursday versus the Red Sox. He did not strike out or walk a batter.

Advice: Gaddis allowed an inherited runner to score, which cut the Guardians' lead to 5-4 at the time. He was able to escape the jam, and he was ultimately credited with the win despite being the third reliever to pitch after starter Triston McKenzie. Gaddis has not been charged with a run over 12.1 innings this season, adding a 16:3 K:BB and six holds across 13 appearances. The right-hander's strong start to the campaign has earned him a setup role, though Thursday's outing shows that he's trusted to work in any high-leverage situation. • Jack Leiter strikes out eight in return to Triple-A
Rangers RHP prospect Jack Leiter recorded eight strikeouts over six shutout innings on Thursday for Triple-A Round Rock.

Advice: Just a few days after coughing up seven runs over 3 2/3 innings last Thursday in his major-league debut against the Tigers, Leiter delivered a dominant performance in his return to the minors. The 24-year-old righty generated a season-high 19 swinging strikes and finished with a stellar 37 percent CSW. He’s posted an astronomical 33/6 K/BB ratio across 20 1/3 frames this season for Triple-A Round Rock. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:34 pm

  • Throws 60 pitches
Clevinger allowed one earned run on four hits and two walks while striking out three across 3.1 innings Thursday with Triple-A Charlotte, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Advice: Clevinger is ramping up his workload after signing with the White Sox a few days after the season began. He threw 60 pitches in his appearance Thursday and will increase his workload to 75 pitches in his next outing, which will also come with Charlotte. Assuming all goes well, Clevinger's third appearance of the campaign will come in the majors -- setting him up to debut around May 5. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:20 pm

  • Alex Wood goes 5 2/3 innings to beat Yankees
Alex Wood allowed one run over 5 2/3 innings on Thursday in a win over the Yankees.

Advice: Wood was tagged for eight hits, but a second-inning solo shot from Jose Trevino represented the lone tally against him in this one. He struck out five and only issued two walks. He’ll carry an underwhelming 6.59 ERA, 1.98 WHIP and 25/13 K/BB ratio across 27 1/3 innings (six starts) into a home outing on Tuesday against the Pirates. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:38 pm

  • Mike Clevinger continues building up pitch count
Mike Clevinger allowed one run over 3 1/3 innings on Thursday for Triple-A Charlotte.

Advice: Clevinger built up his workload to 60 pitches in this one and figures to be an option for Chicago’s starting rotation at some point in early May. The 33-year-old veteran righty, who re-signed with the White Sox earlier this month on a one-year, $3 million pact, simply isn’t relevant for fantasy managers at this stage of his career.
