Paddack did not factor into the decision Thursday against Kansas City, allowing four runs on five hits and two walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out four.

Advice: Paddack got off to a rocky start, allowing a two-run homer to Vinnie Pasquantino in the first inning before allowing two more runs in the third and fourth. However, the Twins would rally back from a 4-0 hole to spare him the loss in an eventual 7-6 victory. Paddack had been sharp coming into Thursday's outing, allowing just four runs over 13 innings across his previous two starts. Overall, he's 4-2 on the season with a 4.57 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 54:12 K:BB across 61 innings. Paddack's currently in line for a tough road matchup with the Yankees in his next start. • Placed on injured list
The Yankees placed Schmidt on the 15-day injured list Thursday with a right lat strain.

Advice: Schmidt gave up two runs (one earned) in five innings during Sunday's loss to the Padres, and he appears to have injured his lat in the process. His move to the IL is backdated to Monday, so the 28-year-old right-hander will be able to return beginning June 11. In the meantime, Cody Morris will come up from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to fill the opening on New York's roster. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:15 pm

    • Clarke Schmidt lands on IL with right lat strain
Yankees placed RHP Clarke Schmidt on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to May 27, with a right lat strain.

Advice: Yankees manager Aaron Boone told reporters Schmidt will be shut down from throwing for the next 4-6 weeks, which likely knocks him out until sometime after the All-Star break. Schmidt was slated to take the ball on Saturday against the Giants, so New York will have to dip into their organizational depth to fill the void. The 28-year-old righty will press pause on an impressive breakthrough campaign as he’s allowed three earned runs or fewer in each of his 11 starts this season, recording a stellar 2.52 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 67/20 K/BB ratio across 60 2/3 innings of work. It’s a significant loss for the Yankees, and fantasy managers as well. There should be a clearer timetable for his return once he’s cleared to resume throwing in a few weeks. • Paredes blasts 10th home run in win Thursday
Isaac Paredes went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run against the Athletics on Thursday.

Advice: Paredes started the scoring with a two-run home run in the first inning. The home run was his 10th of the season and he’s now up to 32 RBI. Paredes is now hitting a solid .295 with a .890 OPS on the year.

    • Paddack allows four in no-decision Thursday
Chris Paddack allowed four runs in 5 2/3 innings and got a no-decision in the Twins 7-6 victory over the Royals on Thursday.

Advice: Paddack allowed five hits, walked two and struck out four. Two of the hits were home runs. He’s now allowed 11 home runs in 11 starts this season. Paddack allowed two runs or less in four of his six starts in May. His ERA is now 4.57 on the year. The 28-year-old right-hander is set to face the Yankees on the road next week.

    • Logs ninth steal
Fraley went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in Wednesday's 5-3 loss to the Cardinals.

Advice: Fraley swiped his ninth base of the season while extending a hit streak to five games (6-for-19). He's on pace for a second consecutive 20-steal season but has just seven extra-base hits in 134 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:22 am

    • Cruises to win No. 5
Burnes (5-2) earned the win over Boston on Wednesday, allowing an unearned run on three hits and three walks while striking out five batters over seven innings.

Advice: Burnes was splendid in the outing, yielding no extra-base hits and allowing zero earned runs for the second time in his past three starts. The right-hander's five strikeouts were mildly disappointing, but he did have his swing-and-miss stuff working with 16 whiffs in the contest. Burnes has completed at least six frames in seven straight starts and is tied for second in the league with nine quality starts on the campaign. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 9:22 pm

    • Goes deep Wednesday
Perkins went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and a double in Wednesday's 10-6 win over the Cubs.

Advice: Perkins went yard as part of a five-run third inning for the Brewers. That homer was his first since he hit a long ball against the Cubs on May 4. He hit a poor .164 with a .388 OPS over 20 contests between homers. For the season, Perkins is slashing .232/.318/.361 with five homers, 17 RBI, 25 runs scored, five stolen bases and five doubles across 176 plate appearances while seeing a majority of the playing time in center field. • Not starting Thursday
Lopez won't start Thursday's game against the Nationals, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Lopez pitched on four days of rest for the second time all season Saturday, allowing three runs (two earned) in 4.2 innings -- his shortest start of the season. Rather than sending him to the mound after a traditional four-day rest period again, Atlanta will push his next start back and give the ball to Ray Kerr to close out its current series against Washington. The team hasn't yet announced when Lopez's next start will come, though it's possible he simply moves back a day to start Friday's series opener against the Athletics. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 8:33 pm
