    • Struggles with command
Peralta (6-6) allowed five runs (three earned) on six hits and five walks over 5.1 innings Friday, striking out four and taking a loss against Miami.

Advice: The Marlins got off to a hot start by knocking two homers in the first inning. They later tacked on two unearned runs in the second. Peralta walked more than three batters for the first time since June 8 and has now failed to complete six innings in three of his last four appearances. He's gone 0-2 with a 4.43 ERA through four starts this month, driving his season ERA up to 3.94 across 114.1 innings. Peralta is currently expected to face Atlanta at home for his next matchup. • Tagged with sixth loss
Sanchez (7-6) took the loss Friday vs the Guardians, giving up three runs on eight hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out two.

Advice: Sanchez got little run support from his offense, as he ended up with the loss despite tossing a quality start. Sanchez now has lost three of his last four starts after a streak of 11 consecutive outings without a loss. The 27-year-old remains a steady option with quality starts in nine of his last 14 starts, and he's allowed just three home runs in 115 innings this season. Sanchez will take a 3.05 ERA into his next start, tentatively scheduled vs the Yankees. Rotowire.com Today, 8:09 pm
    • Cristopher Sánchez labors his way to quality start
Cristopher Sánchez allowed eight hits and three earned runs across six innings on Friday against the Guardians. He struck out two and walked two in defeat.

Advice: Sánchez was singled to death in this one. All eight of the hits he surrendered were just base hits and the Guardians turned them into three runs. This was bittersweet for fantasy managers with Sánchez finding his way to a quality start despite not seeing the strikeout or whiff totals he did when he’s been at his best this season. • MRI comes back clean
Trout told reporters Friday that the MRI on his left knee came back clean, and he expects to start running again soon, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Advice: Trout added that scar tissue broke up in his left knee, which caused discomfort and his eventual pull from his rehab assignment at Triple-A Salt Lake. Once he resumes running and barring any setbacks, he is expected to return to his rehab assignment before coming off the injured list, which he has been on since April 30 after undergoing surgery for a torn meniscus in his left knee. Prior to the injury, Trout was slashing .220/.325/.541 with 10 home runs, 14 RBI and an .866 OPS across 126 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Today, 2:44 pm

    • Mike Trout (knee) has MRI exam come back clean
Mike Trout (knee) underwent a follow-up MRI exam on Friday that revealed no structural damage.

Advice: Trout had some scar tissue break up in his knee which caused him the discomfort, but it’s not going to be a major setback. He won’t resume running for a few days, but then should be able to start back up again and will be able to resume his minor league rehab assignment in relatively short order. It’s a big sigh of relief for the Angels and for fantasy managers. Rotoworld Today, 2:35 pm

    • Slated for bullpen
Verlander (neck) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Saturday, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Advice: It will be Verlander's third time on a mound as he recovers from a neck issue, with his first coming just before the All-Star break. The 41-year-old was stretched out to 40 pitches in his last bullpen and could be one or two more sessions away from the next stage in his recovery, whether that's a rehab assignment or an immediate return to the Houston rotation. • Getting breather Friday
Garcia is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Cubs.

Advice: Garcia started each of the Royals' first six games coming out of the All-Star break and will get the night off Friday. Nick Loftin will bat seventh and man the hot corner in Garcia's place. Rotowire.com Today, 1:15 pm

    • Maikel Garcia absent from Royals’ lineup on Friday
Maikel Garcia is absent from the Royals’ starting lineup for Friday night’s showdown against the Cubs.

Advice: It looks to be nothing more than a routine night off for the speedy 24-year-old infielder. Nick Loftin will start in his place at the hot corner and will bat seventh for the Royals against soft-tossing right-hander Kyle Hendricks on Friday evening in Kansas City. Rotoworld Today, 1:06 pm

    • Hits injured list
Greene was placed on the 10-day injured list Friday with a right hamstring strain.

Advice: Greene uncharacteristically was held out of the lineup Friday, and the team has now provided an explanation for why. Per Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic the strain is considered minor, which could indicate that Greene won't miss much more time than the minimum 10 days. In the meantime, Mark Canha, Bligh Madris and Ryan Vilade could see more action in the outfield. Rotowire.com Today, 12:11 pm
