• Struggles continue Sunday
Quintana came away with a no-decision in Sunday's loss to the Diamondbacks, giving up three runs on four hits and three walks over four innings. He struck out four.

Advice: The veteran southpaw once again had trouble keeping the ball in the park as he served up solo homers to Ketel Marte and Lourdes Gurriel in in the first inning. Quintana has been taken deep eight times in his last five starts, leading to a 5.13 ERA despite a 1.18 WHIP over that stretch. He lines up to take the mound next during the Mets' trip to London this weekend to face the Phillies. Rotowire.com 18 minutes ago
  • Notches fourth hold
Green walked two and struck out two in a scoreless sixth inning Sunday to record his fourth hold of the season in a win over the Pirates.

Advice: The right-hander had trouble finding the plate, tossing only 15 of 27 pitches for strikes, but Green was able to escape the jam he created while protecting a 4-3 lead. With Jordan Romano (elbow) back on the IL, it looks like Yimi Garcia will get the first chance to fill the closer role, with Green remaining part of the set-up crew. Rotowire.com 42 minutes ago

  • Promotion could be coming
Vespi will travel with the Orioles to Toronto for their upcoming series against the Blue Jays and could be formally recalled from Triple-A Norfolk as soon as Monday, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Advice: Vespi hasn't officially been promoted yet, but the move appears to be imminent. The left-handed reliever has made one appearance with the Orioles this season, tossing a scoreless frame in St. Louis on May 22. Rotowire.com Today, 7:03 am

  • Takes first loss Sunday
Adams (0-1) took the loss against Atlanta on Sunday, allowing an earned run on two hits and two walks over one inning. He struck out two.

Advice: Adams' eventful inning saw him sandwich swinging strikeouts of Ozzie Albies and Orlando Arcia around a walk and a pair of doubles, including Sean Murphy's go-ahead RBI two-bagger. The right-hander saw his streak of seven consecutive scoreless appearances snapped with that hit, but he retains an impressive 2.70 ERA alongside 14 holds over 28 appearances. • Tracking toward brief IL stint
Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Sunday that he's hopeful Gonzalez will be ready to return from the 10-day injured list around when he's first eligible to be activated, Christopher Smith of The Springfield Republican reports.

Advice: Gonzalez was joined on the IL on Sunday by fellow infielder Vaughn Grissom, who is recovering from a right hamstring strain. Grissom's injury is believed to be the more significant of the two, as he'll be sent in for an MRI, whereas Gonzalez won't be subject to any further imaging. Assuming the tightness in his left leg subsides in the coming days and he's able to resume baseball activities, Gonzalez could be ready to return from the IL for the Red Sox's three-game series with the Phillies that begins June 11. In the meantime, the Red Sox are likely to lean on Enmanuel Valdez and Jamie Westbrook as the main options at second base, with the former occupying the strong side of a platoon. • Keaton Winn may not need rehab start
Giants’ manager Bob Melvin told reporters on Sunday that Keaton Winn (forearm) may not require a minor league rehab start before rejoining the team’s rotation.

Advice: With Blake Snell (groin) heading back to the injured list, the Giants have a gaping hole to fill in their rotation and Winn could be ready to fill the void. The 26-year-old right-hander has been shelved since May 15 due to a mild right forearm strain. He was supposed to make at least one rehab start at Triple-A Sacramento, but it sounds like the Giants may need to utilize him at the big league level instead. Either way, expect his pitch count to be limited in his first couple of starts back. Rotoworld Today, 6:42 am

  • Officially demoted to Triple-A
The Twins optioned Julien to Triple-A St. Paul on Monday.

Advice: Julien put up a 132 OPS+ last season as a rookie and opened the 2024 campaign as the Twins' leadoff man against right-handed pitching. While he started off with an .830 OPS in April this season, he posted a .482 OPS with a 36.5 percent strikeout rate since May 1. Julien could regain a regular role with Minnesota later this season, but he'll head to St. Paul for now as he looks to get back on track. Willi Castro will likely take over as the Twins' primary second baseman, with Kyle Farmer being mixed in against lefties. Rotowire.com Today, 6:40 am
  • Works in relief Saturday
Garabito struck out one and allowed two hits and one walk over a scoreless inning out of the bullpen in Saturday's 7-0 win over the Marlins.

Advice: After giving up one run in a 3.2-inning start in his MLB debut May 26 versus the Twins, Garabito went nearly a week without any usage before he finished off Saturday's blowout win. Despite making his most recent appearance in relief, Garabito could be an option to make another start either Tuesday or Wednesday versus the Tigers, with Dane Dunning presumably taking the hill for one of those games. Texas could get Jon Gray (groin) back from the injured list as soon as this weekend, so Garabito likely won't be in line for any additional starts in the near future if he does in fact re-enter the rotation against Detroit. • Braves option Chadwick Tromp to Triple-A
Braves optioned C Chadwick Tromp to Triple-A Gwinnett.

Advice: With Travis d’Arnaud and Sean Murphy both healthy, there’s simply no room for Tromp on the big league roster at the moment. Tromp has hit .250/.259/.365 with zero homers and six RBI in 54 plate appearances with the Braves this season. He’ll continue to bide his time at the Triple-A level until he’s needed once more.
