• Diamondbacks option Saalfrank to Triple-A
Diamondbacks optioned LHP Andrew Saalfrank to Triple-A Reno.

Advice: Saalfrank has struggled mightily in two appearances out of the Diamondbacks’ bullpen this season, posting a 36.00 ERA and 6.00 WHIP in his inning of work. Blake Walston was recalled in a corresponding move. Rotoworld 9 minutes ago
  • Diamondbacks recall Blake Walston from Triple-A
Diamondbacks recalled LHP Blake Walston from Triple-A Reno.

Advice: It’s the first trip to the big leagues for the 22-year-old southpaw. He’ll add depth and length to a Diamondbacks’ bullpen in need of both at the moment. Andrew Saalfrank was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move. Rotoworld 13 minutes ago
  • Back in action Wednesday
Rodriguez (hand) will start in center field and will bat leadoff Wednesday for Double-A Wichita in its matchup with Northwest Arkansas.

Advice: Rodriguez is back in action after he hadn't played since April 24 due to the hand injury he sustained while sliding into second base on a stolen-base attempt in a game against San Antonio. The 21-year-old outfielder had gotten off to a strong start to the season for Wichita before suffering the injury, slashing .294/.507/.686 with four home runs and nine stolen bases in 73 plate appearances. • Willi Castro goes 3-for-5, steals base
Willi Castro went 3-for-5 with a triple, a double and a stolen base Wednesday as the Twins took down the White Sox 10-5.

Advice: Castro has really warmed up, going 16-for-35 with eight RBI in his last eight games. That’s raised his OPS from .538 to 789. He was in line to lose playing time due to Carlos Correa’s return, but the hot streak has changed that, and now that Byron Buxton is down, there’s little doubt that Castro will stay in the lineup for a while. He’s an option for teams in need of steals. Rotoworld 18 minutes ago

  • Tracking toward return next week
Reds manager David Bell said Tuesday that he expects Montas (forearm) to return from the 15-day injured list when first eligible May 7 or the day after, MLB.com reports.

Advice: Montas was placed on the IL on April 22 with a bruised right forearm, which he sustained when he was struck by a line drive in his start a day earlier. Bell noted that Montas threw a side session Monday without issue, and the right-hander will throw one more bullpen session later this week as a final test of his health. If all goes well, Montas should rejoin the rotation for the Reds' three-game series with the Diamondbacks that begins next Tuesday. Rotowire.com 18 minutes ago

  • Steven Wilson walks three versus Twins
Steven Wilson walked three and allowed two unearned runs while getting two outs in relief versus the Twins on Wednesday.

Advice: With Michael Kopech hardly being a sure thing, it’d be nice if there were a clear No. 2 reliever on the White Sox. However, Wilson’s velocity is down and he has an ugly 10/9 K/BB ratio in 13 1/3 innings. John Brebbia is having similar issues after missing more of the spring, and while rookie Jordan Leasure possesses a nice 3.00 ERA, his 8/6 K/BB ratio in 12 innings doesn’t inspire much confidence. Someone else might step up in time. Rotoworld 18 minutes ago
  • Tommy Pham homers in loss to Twins
Tommy Pham homered and doubled in the loss to the Twins on Wednesday.

Advice: Pham is 9-for-24 with just two strikeouts in six games since joining the White Sox. He’s going to have to hit better than usual and keep running like he did last season in order to be of use in mixed leagues while playing for such an awful team. We’re not optimistic, but he’s certainly off to a great start. Rotoworld 18 minutes ago

  • Optioned back down
Saalfrank was optioned to Triple-A Reno on Wednesday.

Advice: The southpaw slinger will head back to the Aces after being brought up in late April. Saalfrank appeared in two games during his quick tenure with the Diamondbacks, and he allowed four earned runs over one inning. Rotowire.com 21 minutes ago
  • Faces hitters Wednesday
Urquidy (forearm) threw live batting practice before Wednesday's game against Cleveland, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Urquidy was able to throw 30 pitches without any problems during Wednesday's session. The 29-year-old righty will likely throw one more round of BP before embarking on a rehab assignment in the minors, though it's unclear when that may be. Rotowire.com 23 minutes ago
