• Lively allows two runs, gets seventh win Saturday
Ben Lively allowed two runs in 5 2/3 innings and got the win in the Guardians’ 6-3 victory over the Blue Jays on Saturday.

Advice: Lively gave up three hits, walked two and struck out four. He’s now won five of his last seven starts and has seven wins overall on the season. His ERA is 3.03. Not bad for a waiver wire pickup. The 32-year-old right-hander is set to face the Royals on the road next weekend.

  • Jameson Taillon fans 10 in dominant win over Mets
Jameson Taillon recorded 10 strikeouts and allowed one run over six innings on Saturday in a win over the Mets.

Advice: Taillon was staked to a five-run cushion by the outset of the second inning and was able to cruise to his fourth victory of the season, setting a new season-high in the strikeout department in the process. A fifth-inning solo shot by Mets emerging star Francisco Alvarez was the lone blemish over six stellar frames as he induced 15 swinging strikes and finished with a robust 34 percent CSW. The 32-year-old righty has allowed two earned runs or fewer, while also completing six innings, in each of his las three starts dating back to June 11. He’ll bring a solid 2.90 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 53/16 K/BB ratio across 68 1/3 innings (12 starts) into a road tilt on Thursday against the Giants at pitcher-friendly Oracle Park. • Tylor Megill lit up for six runs in loss to Cubs
Tylor Megill was shelled for six runs over three innings on Saturday in a loss to the Cubs.

Advice: Megill’s fastball velocity was down noticeably in this outing, which undoubtedly led to him getting roughed up pretty good. Here’s an oversimplification: Megill leans havily on his four-seam fastball, so any time he’s below 95 mph, which was the case in this one, he’s going to get hit pretty hard. He surrendered five hits, including a gargantuan solo shot to Christopher Morel, and only managed to complete three frames. He struck out six and also issued three walks. He’ll bring an underwhelming 4.81 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 43/16 K/BB ratio across 33 2/3 innings (seven starts) into a home outing next Saturday against the Astros. Rotoworld Today, 2:16 pm

  • Miles Mikolas allows four runs in win over Giants
Miles Mikolas gave up four runs over six innings on Saturday in a win over the Giants.

Advice: Mikolas got in trouble right away in the opening frame when Jorge Soler and Michael Conforto delivered run-scoring singles as part of a three-run outburst. He managed to settle in afterwards, limiting San Francisco to just one run over his final five frames of work. He struck out three and only handed out a pair of free passes. He’ll bring an inflated 4.68 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 67/17 K/BB ratio across 90 1/3 innings (16 starts) into a home outing on Thursday against the Reds. Rotoworld Today, 2:01 pm

  • Jordan Hicks coughs up two homers vs. Cardinals
Jordan Hicks was lit up for five runs over four innings on Saturday in a loss to the Cardinals.

Advice: Hicks was hit extremely hard by his former organization on Saturday afternoon in his return to Busch Stadium as he surrendered six hits, including homers to Paul Goldschmidt and Alec Burleson, which accounted for all of the damage against him. He finished with only one strikeout and also handed out a trio of free passes. The only positive here is that he surpassed his previous career-high single-season mark of 77 2/3 innings, which he set back in 2018, in this one. He’ll bring a solid 3.24 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 69/31 K/BB ratio across 80 2/3 innings (16 starts) into a home outing on Thursday against the Cubs. Rotoworld Today, 2:01 pm

  • Drew Thorpe collects first win Saturday vs. Tigers
Drew Thorpe struck out five over six shutout innings on Saturday against the Tigers to record his first career win.

Advice: Thorpe delivered his strongest performance yet in his third big-league start, leaning heavily on his signature changeup in this one, which generated 10 whiffs on 16 swings, and managed to avoid letting his fastball get demolished. The 23-year-old top pitching prospect limited Detroit’s lineup to just a pair of hits and four walks over six strong frames. There’s definitely some streaming appeal for fantasy managers, if he can avoid hard contact on his pedestrian four-seam fastball at the highest level, because the changeup is that good. He’ll aim to keep the momentum going on Thursday when he squares off against Atlanta’s struggling lineup. Rotoworld Today, 1:14 pm

  • Patrick Sandoval exits game with forearm tightness
Patrick Sandoval was removed from Friday night’s start against the Dodgers in the third inning due to left forearm tightness.

Advice: Sandoval delivered a pitch to Shohei Ohtani and immediately knew something was wrong and signaled for the training staff. He’ll almost assuredly undergo an MRI exam to determine the severity of the issue, but it’s likely that a lengthy stint on the injury list is upcoming. The Angels should have a better idea of his status on Saturday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:34 pm
  • Dealing with forearm issue
Sandoval exited Friday's start against the Dodgers with left forearm tightness.

Advice: Sandoval was pulled abruptly in the third inning after issuing a walk to Shohei Ohtani. A timeline for Sandoval's return isn't available, but it would come as a significant surprise if he doesn't land on the injured list. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:30 pm
  • Patrick Sandoval leaves game with apparent injury
Patrick Sandoval was pulled from Friday night’s start against the Dodgers in the third inning due to an apparent arm injury.

Advice: The 27-year-old southpaw delivered a pitch to walk Shohei Ohtani, then immediately called for the training staff to come out to the mound — knowing something was wrong with his arm. He’ll head for further evaluation to determine exactly what’s going on there, but it would be shocking if it didn’t require a trip to the injured list at a minimum. Sandoval allowed two hits and two walks over his 2 1/3 innings of scoreless baseball before the injury. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:11 pm
