    • Sean Murphy (oblique) homers in rehab contest
Sean Murphy (oblique) homered on Tuesday in a minor league rehab game for Triple-A Gwinnett.

Advice: Murphy caught seven innings behind the plate and also threw out a runner attempting to steal second base in this one. The 29-year-old backstop looked ready to return to the majors in this one, but he’ll presumably get at least a couple more contests under his belt before heading back to Atlanta. • Nolan Jones dealing with right knee soreness
Nolan Jones (back) has paused a minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Albuquerque due to right knee soreness.

Advice: Jones underwent a precautionary MRI that came back clean, but will still have his rehab assignment paused for at least a few days to rest and recover before getting back into game action. The 26-year-old slugger has been on the shelf since late April due to a lower back strain after slashing a lackluster .170/.243/.277 with one homer and two steals in 26 contests. • Rehab halted
The Rockies have halted Jones' (back) rehab assignment at Triple-A Albuquerque because of right knee soreness stemming from a slide, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.

Advice: A MRI came back clean for Jones, but he will rest a few days before getting back on the field. The outfielder was placed on the 10-day injured list April 30 with a lower-back strain and just started his rehab assignment Wednesday. It seemed like the 26-year-old was nearing a return and was trending toward being activated after Albuquerque's game Sunday, but this latest development has likely scuttled that timeline. • Launches eighth homer
Varsho went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and a second run scored in Monday's win over the White Sox.

Advice: The 27-year-old outfielder crushed a Erick Fedde changeup over the right-field fence in the second inning for his eighth long ball of the season. Varsho is batting just .182 (10-for-55) in May, but half his hits have gone for extra bases (three doubles, two homers) and he's stayed productive with two steals, nine runs and nine RBI in 14 games. • Swipes two bags
Yelich went 0-for-3 with two walks, two steals and a run scored in Monday's loss to Miami.

Advice: Yelich stole his fifth and sixth bases of the season in the sixth inning. First, the Brewers outfielder stole second before catching starter Ryan Weathers off guard on a throw back from his catcher, taking the opportunity to swipe home. Overall, Yelich is slashing .321/.398/.564 in 89 plate appearances this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:14 pm

    • Christian Yelich steals two bases Monday in loss
Christian Yelich walked twice and stole two bases on Monday in the Brewers’ extra-inning loss to the Marlins.

Advice: Yelich walked and stole second base in the sixth inning before making a daring heads-up decision to steal home on Marlins starter Ryan Weathers later in the frame. It was his first multi-steal performance since back on Opening Day and just the 16th time he’s accomplished the feat in his career. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:04 pm

    • Out of Monday's lineup
Mountcastle is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Cardinals.

Advice: Mountcastle is mired in a 1-for-20 slump and will sit Monday for the second time in Baltimore's past three games. Ryan O'Hearn will handle first base while Anthony Santander (knee) returns to the lineup as the designated hitter. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:22 pm

    • Expected to miss 2-to-4 weeks
Rays manager Kevin Cash said Monday that he expects Eflin (back) to remain on the 15-day injured list for 2-to-4 weeks, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Advice: Eflin landed on the IL on Monday with a lower-back injury that he felt crop up toward the end of his most recent start Saturday. The right-hander said it feels similar to an injury that cost him two weeks last season. While the hope is that the absence will be similar in length this time around, Eflin's manager has allowed for the possibility for it to be a bit longer. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:13 pm

    • Rays place Zach Eflin on IL with back injury
Rays placed RHP Zach Eflin (lower back inflammation) on the 15-day injured list.

Advice: Eflin had a shaky start on Saturday, allowing four runs over six innings against the Blue Jays. Perhaps his back was an issue then. The Rays made his IL designation retroactive to Sunday, but he will still miss at least two starts as he recovers. The 30-year-old has a 4.12 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, and a 44/4 K/BB ratio across 59 innings but it’s unclear who will take his spot in the rotation, but perhaps the Rays will opt to bring Ryan Pepiot back from his leg injury without a rehab assignment.
