    Advice: Gallen finds himself the recipient of a tasty matchup on Saturday afternoon against the rebuilding Athletics following a one-month absence due to a Grade 1 right hamstring strain.     Advice: Gallen was able to build up to 67 pitches while throwing bullpen sessions and sim games during his time on the injured list, so it's possible he'll be under a pitch count as he makes his first start since May 30.     Advice: Arizona manager Torey Lovullo confirmed late Friday that Gallen will take the ball for Saturday’s showdown against the Athletics after making it through a bullpen session earlier this week without any issues just a couple days after tossing a 67-pitch simulated game. The 28-year-old righty has been out since suffering a Grade 1 right hamstring strain back on May 30. It’s obviously an extremely favorable matchup for fantasy purposes and there shouldn’t be any limitations from a workload standpoint for Gallen in his return from the injured list.     The Diamondbacks will reinstate Gallen (hamstring) from the injured list to start Saturday's game against Oakland, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.

    Advice: After spending nearly a full month on the injured list thanks to a right hamstring strain, Gallen will officially return to the D-backs' rotation Saturday. He never appeared in a rehab game with one of Arizona's minor-league affiliates, though he did throw a handful of simulated games, reaching 67 pitches in his most recent session Monday. It's unclear if the 28-year-old righty will be operating under a pitch/innings restriction during his first start back, but he will certainly have a favorable matchup against an Oakland offense that ranks 28th in MLB in runs scored (305).   • No-decision against former club
    Stroman came away with a no-decision in Friday's 16-5 rout of the Blue Jays, giving up three runs on five hits and three walks over 4.1 innings. He struck out three.

    Advice: The veteran right-hander made his big-league with the Jays in 2014 and had trouble keeping his composure in his return to Toronto, getting the hook after 88 pitches (52 strikes) and not sticking around long enough to benefit from a season-best offensive explosion by the Yankees. Stroman completed six innings only once in five June starts, but on the year he still sports a 3.29 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 70:43 K:BB through 95.2 innings.     Marcus Stroman allowed three earned runs across 4 1/3 innings on Friday against the Blue Jays. He struck out three, walked three in a no-decision.

    Advice: Stroman labored through two very long innings against the Blue Jays. He could not put them away despite not allowing much hard contact and many long-at bats drove his pitch count up.   • Devin Williams (back) to throw bullpen Saturday
    Devin Williams (back) is scheduled to throw another bullpen session on Saturday.

    Advice: The 29-year-old hurler felt great after his first bullpen session, so he’ll continue to ramp up as long as he’s feeling good. He’s also tentatively scheduled to throw his first live batting practice on July 9, assuming that he doesn’t suffer any setbacks along the way.     Schmidt (lat) has resumed his throwing program, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

    Advice: The right-hander took the first step in his throwing program Monday when he started playing catch, per Chris Kirschner of The Athletic. Schmidt has been out with a right lat strain and was transferred to the 60-day injured list June 18.     Clarke Schmidt (lat) began playing catch on Monday as he continues to work his way back from a right lat strain.

    Advice: He’s still a long way away from being ready for game action, but it’s nice to see the 28-year-old hurler take a small step in the right direction after being shut down from throwing altogether for nearly a month.
